Spain: Riot Police Clear Migrant Camps In Ceuta As Migrants Are Moved Onto Buses.
Sep 30, 2026
Ceuta, Spain - September 27, 2026 Riot police clear migrant camps and move migrants onto buses during a two-day operation in the Spanish city. Videos released by the National Police show officers in riot gear walking through a shoreline camp of tarps, cardboard and makeshift tents beside the sea and a white industrial wall near the desalination plant. About 350 officers, including riot units, took part on September 27 to clear camps beside the plant and keep migrants away from the facility and the rocky breakwater. A second clip from September 29 shows officers on the Playa Benítez promenade, with migrants lined up behind a low wall before being escorted onto a blue city bus. Police described the operation as the second part of the clearance. Several hundred migrants were moved by bus to the Tarajal center for identification and then toward the Loma Colmenar camp. Police cited safety concerns around a dam spillway and incoming rain. Around 20 to 30 migrants ran from the police cordon, while a small number were detained. Some migrants later chose to return voluntarily to Morocco.
