San Cipriano del Condado, Spain - July 29, 2026 Aerial footage from helicopters shows massive columns of thick white and dark smoke rising over green forests, agricultural fields, and scattered villages beneath a hazy sky. The video captures active flames burning along ridges near roads and residential areas as smoke drifts across the landscape while the aircraft circles above the fire zone. The forest fire started at approximately 2:38 p.m. on July 29, 2026, in San Cipriano del Condado, in the municipality of Vegas del Condado, León province. It was quickly raised to Índice de Gravedad Potencial (IGR) Level 2. Authorities evacuated about 312 people from nearby areas, including the Montesol urbanization, Santa María del Condado, Castro de Condado, and Barrillos de Curueño. BRIF Laza crews, supported by two helicopters, joined the firefighting effort as the blaze threatened populated areas and forced the closure of the N-621 road. "We are working on the San Cipriano del Condado fire with a team of 18 forest firefighters and two helicopters." By the following morning, the situation had improved and most evacuated residents were able to return.
