Bratislava, Slovakia - October 07, 2026 The Danube River runs at a record low water level in the Devin borough of Bratislava, Slovakia, on October 7, 2026. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute reported that the river's average daily flow fell to 575.9 cubic meters per second on October 5, the lowest recorded since measurements began in November 1900, surpassing the previous record low of 580 cubic meters per second set in January 1909. The milestone follows an especially dry summer, with severe to extreme drought affecting roughly 90 percent of Slovakia in recent weeks.
