Lebanon: IDF Says Militant Who Killed Maj. Itamar Sapir Was Eliminated in Southern Lebanon.

Lebanon - May 27, 2026 The Israeli military said the militant responsible for killing Maj. (res.) Itamar Sapir during a clash near Qaouzah in southern Lebanon last week was eliminated. According to the IDF, the gunman opened fire from the area of a church toward Brigade 401 troops, after which Israeli forces returned fire. The military said the suspect was later identified entering a building near the church and was killed by tank fire and a targeted airstrike. During the incident, Israeli forces also struck Hezbollah observation posts, a weapons depot and buildings allegedly used to support attacks.
