Local and foreign pilgrims gathered at the shrines of Imam Hussein and his brother Imam Abbas early Tuesday, Aug. 4, while large crowds filled the surrounding streets and joined religious processions. Arbaeen is one of the world's largest annual religious gatherings, with millions of people traveling, many on foot, between Najaf and Karbala.
