VARIOUS OF PROTESTERS CHANTING SLOGANS / HOLDING BANNERS / MARCHING / POLICE PRESENCE THESSALONIKI, GREECE - SEPT. 5, 2026: Thousands of protesters rallied in Thessaloniki, Greece, on Saturday, Sept. 5, demanding higher wages and measures to ease the rising cost of living as Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addressed the opening of the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair. Trade union members, pensioners, students, political groups and farmers joined the demonstrations. Protesters called for higher wages and pensions and stronger collective bargaining agreements, while farmers gathered with tractors near the White Tower to highlight economic pressures facing the agricultural sector. Around 4,000 police officers were deployed across the city center, while drones were used for surveillance. The demonstrations ended without major incidents.
