De La Espriella arrived early at his polling station, located at a school in the northern part of the city, accompanied by his family. He greeted supporters during the election day as Colombia voted to choose the country’s next president for the 2026–2030 term. De La Espriella advanced to the runoff after winning the first round with 10,361,499 votes, while left-wing candidate Ivan Cepeda Castro finished second with 9,688,361 votes. The two candidates are competing to succeed President Gustavo Petro. The candidate who receives the highest number of votes in the runoff will become Colombia’s next president for the 2026–2030 period.
