Storyline China's approval of 6G trial spectrum set to accelerate real-life applications China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has approved a 6GHz band trial spectrum for 6G applications, marking another step in the march toward next gen comms. MIIT officials say the move is aimed at advancing technical R&D and testing from lab simulations and indoor prototypes to real-world scenarios as defined by the International Telecommunication Union for 6G. Wang Tan, director, frequency planning division, radio administration bureau, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: "The approval is conducive to integrating the efforts of industry, academia, research and application, leading domestic industrial forces to make early arrangements for key links such as 6G chips, terminals and instruments, and accelerating the maturity of the industrial chain." Industry experts say 6G will face rapid evolution and integration into space, air and ground, communications with commercialization expected by the year 2030.
