Storyline AI-powered aquaculture farm produces 3,000 tons of salmon annually in E China A deep-sea fish farm off the coast of Rizhao, China is using AI and naturally cooler waters to produce thousands of salmon every year. Traditionally a cold-water fish, salmon thrive in 12-to-18-degree Celsius water, significantly colder than the 22-degree surface temperature of the Yellow Sea during summer. There is a portion of water deep in the sea, however, that remains cold year-round- the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass-which is precisely where the Deep Blue No.2 aquaculture cage is located. The whole operation is powered by advanced technology including artificial intelligence to feed the fish and gather information. A researcher at the center recently explained how the AI monitoring system works. Hu Yuze, deputy director, production department, Deep Blue No.2 aquaculture farm: "The green frame in the monitor is the fish, which make us know how the fish grow. And this is a sonar monitor, which let us know the distribution of the fish. When we feed them, we can see how many fodders the fish eat." The facility is 71.5 meters high, 70 meters in diameter, and holds 90,000 cubic meters of water. [Restrictions: No access Chinese mainland]
