Storyline Global experts commend China's growing role in BRICS The two-day BRICS Summit has concluded. Besides President Xi’s five initiatives, several key outcomes are worth highlighting. The New Delhi Declaration calls for comprehensive reform of the United Nations, urges the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy amid ongoing global tensions, and reaffirms a strict zero-tolerance stance toward all forms of terrorism. China and India also reached an important consensus that the two countries should be partners. They reaffirmed that the two countries are partners, not rivals, and pledged to work together to maintain peace and tranquility in their border areas. India expressed appreciation for China’s support in hosting the summit and voiced full support for China’s BRICS chairmanship in 2027. China, together with other 10 member countries and 10 partner countries, will work together to push for greater and further representation of the Global South in global governance. Fernando Reyes Matta, Former Ambassador of Chile to China: "China chaired the BRICS three times in the first quarter of the 21st century. The second quarter is filled with even greater challenges, profound transitions, and a need to carry forward the values that have been built up through global solidarity. I see there is a very strong interaction between Global South, China leadership, and those changes for a shared growth."
