Poor Janitor Buys Old Doll at Flea Market, Gives it to Child & Hears Crackling Sound from It
A poor janitor buys an old doll for her daughter at a flea market and hears a crackling sound as she hands it to her. What she discovers brings her to tears.
"Oh, this one's lovely. Eve will love it!" Pauline exclaimed as she stopped by a stall where a woman was selling toys.
Pauline was a single mother to her 8-year-old daughter Eve and worked as a janitor. Her husband had died years ago due to cancer, and since then, she'd been raising Eve on her own.

exclaimed as she stopped by a stall
0:25
where a woman was selling toys Pauline
0:27
was a single mother to her
0:29
eight-year-old daughter Eve and worked
0:30
as a janitor her husband had died years
0:33
ago due to cancer and since then she'd
0:36
been raising Eve on her own when Pauline
0:39
saw the doll at the flea market she knew
0:41
it would be the best birthday present
0:43
for Eve unfortunately she didn't have
0:46
enough money to buy anything expensive
0:48
so looking for something at the flea
0:50
market was her best option
0:53
when Pauline decided to buy the doll she
0:56
was so preoccupied with the thoughts of
0:58
Eve that she didn't bother to inspect it
1:01
two days later when she gave it to Eve
1:03
on her birthday she heard a weird
1:06
crackling sound coming from the doll a
1:08
few days earlier mommy said eve sadly
1:12
can you get me a doll
1:13
honey Pauline gently replied you know
1:16
we're on a tight budget this month Mommy
1:18
will buy you one next month that's a
1:20
promise but mommy Eve's voice began to
1:24
crack my birthday is in two days did you
1:27
forget about it
1:28
oh no sweetheart not at all Pauline said
1:32
but she had actually forgotten and felt
1:34
terrible about it are you still not
1:37
going to get me a doll I don't have any
1:39
friends mommy nobody wants to be friends
1:41
with me because we are poor that doll
1:43
can be my best friend oh honey Pauline
1:47
hugged Eve I will get you the doll
1:49
Promise don't be sad okay Pauline knew
1:52
the kids at Eve school didn't treat her
1:54
well because she wasn't as rich as them
1:56
but there wasn't much she could do about
1:58
it children can be cruel at times
2:00
present day
2:03
Pauline was delighted after buying the
2:05
doll she couldn't wait to give it to Eve
2:07
and see her beautiful smile the doll was
2:09
one of those vintage kinds holding a
2:11
tiny baby in her arms oh Eve will be so
2:15
happy Pauline thought on her way back
2:17
home and Eve was the little girl's Joy
2:20
knew no bounds when Pauline showed her
2:23
the doll on her birthday sometimes the
2:25
cause of someone's smile is the source
2:27
of another person's grief
2:30
mommy got the doll for Evie Pauline
2:33
exclaimed holding the doll in her hands
2:34
can Mommy have a kiss for that it's so
2:38
pretty they
2:39
chirped as she kissed Pauline on the
2:41
cheek as Pauline handed over the doll to
2:44
Eve she suddenly heard a strange
2:46
crackling sound what was that Pauline
2:49
wondered she shook the doll holding it
2:52
close to her ears and heard the
2:54
crackling again mommy give it here I
2:57
want to hold my doll please please Eve
3:01
said excited to play with it one second
3:03
honey I think there's something in here
3:06
it was then that Pauline examined the
3:09
doll and found a secret pocket sewn into
3:11
the doll's outfit she undid the loose
3:14
threads around it and a note fell from
3:16
it Eve quickly picked it up and said
3:18
mommy it says happy Birthday Mommy it's
3:21
not your birthday it's my birthday this
3:25
is so silly
3:27
when Pauline read the note she noticed
3:29
the message seemed like it was scribbled
3:31
by a child at that point the thought of
3:34
the woman selling the doll flash through
3:36
Pauline's mind
3:37
the next day she returned to the flea
3:40
market with the doll and luckily the
3:43
woman's stall was still there oh I'm
3:45
glad I found you here Pauline said I
3:48
bought this doll yesterday and I found a
3:50
note inside when the woman Miriam saw
3:52
the note her eyes welled up daughter got
3:55
this doll for me she said quietly
3:58
she passed away two days before my
4:00
birthday my husband and I oh I'm sorry
4:04
the woman covered her face as her tears
4:06
started to flow I'm really sorry for
4:08
your loss Pauline said apologetically I
4:11
had no idea I know I can't take away
4:13
your pain but if it helps I can give you
4:16
a hug oh thank you Miriam said Pauline
4:19
gave her a warm hug after which Miriam
4:22
revealed her sad story which brought
4:24
tears to Pauline's eyes
4:27
diagnosed with cancer Miriam said we
4:31
needed money for her chemotherapy my
4:32
husband and I work at a factory we
4:34
didn't have enough money to cover her
4:36
hospital bills so we set up a stall here
4:38
to sell our old furniture and things we
4:41
didn't need but we couldn't save our
4:43
daughter she she left us too soon we're
4:46
selling her toys because every time I
4:48
look at them it just makes me sad one
4:51
night when I held my baby girl's hand
4:53
she asked me to be happy she had said
4:56
Mama when I am gone please remember me
4:58
with a smile so I decided to sell the
5:01
toys she had bought that doll saying it
5:04
would remind me of her I'm sorry I feel
5:06
like I'm over sharing with you but my
5:08
heart feels really relieved today thank
5:10
you for listening to me as Miriam
5:12
finished she broke down into tears again
5:14
Pauline consoled her and the two women
5:17
talked about their lives for a while
5:19
Pauline told her how she'd been raising
5:21
Eve by herself and invited her over to
5:23
spend time with them Eve would love to
5:26
meet you she said and thank you so much
5:28
for the doll it made my daughter's day
5:30
I'm sure your daughter's looking at you
5:32
and smiling thank you again she added
5:35
before she left a few days later Miriam
5:38
visited Eve and Pauline at the trailer
5:40
where they lived this is an appreciation
5:42
of your kind heart and patience in
5:44
listening to me that day I hope this
5:46
helps you and Eve Miriam said handing
5:48
Pauline an envelope when Pauline opened
5:50
it she found a couple of dollar bills
5:52
inside dollar 3 000 in total oh Miriam
5:56
we can't take this this is a lot no no
5:59
this doesn't feel right
6:01
take it Pauline Miriam insisted a
6:05
mother's heart knows how much it hurts
6:06
when you can't do enough for your child
6:08
we made this by selling the toys please
6:11
keep it if not for my sake please keep
6:14
it for Eve's sake Pauline cried oh
6:17
Miriam thank you this will help us a lot
6:19
thanks
6:20
from then on Miriam and Pauline became
6:22
friends and Miriam loved and spoiled Eve
6:25
too much but the best part was that
6:27
Pauline and Eve's company helped Miriam
6:29
heal and move on from her loss
