The rule is, if you have the panel available then the Flexible Shape Pattern is the way to go. If you're recreating the buck from a picture then choose a wire form. It's cheaper to build, you can always change the flow by cutting the wire, fixing it and re-welding it back in. Now when fitting a panel to the buck you'll notice you can see how it fits whereas on a wood buck it's difficult to clamp a panel to it and if you do, it's hard to see.
