Hey what is up Wanderers. As you probably know from my last video I've been kind
0:08
of absent for the past couple weeks. I'm back and from that last video I kind of
0:14
informed you guys that I've had a few things going on in my life. I got married
0:18
and I bought a house and so I've been super busy taking care of all that and
0:27
now I'm back. I'm starting to get settled in a little bit. Still not there
0:31
My office and studio is a wreck but I thought I'd sneak out and do a real
0:38
quick video for you guys and show you a very awesome survival kit that I just
0:45
picked up from our friends at 5 Call Survival Supply. So stick around it's
0:50
gonna be a good video. music
1:15
All right so friends at 5 Call Survival Supply sent me a very cool survival kit
1:25
What this is is their survival kit that they actually put together themselves
1:29
It's called the Wilderness Survival Module. I believe is this is their
1:34
version 2 and it retails for about $114 but before you get sticker shock let's
1:42
go in look at the components and see exactly what is in here and if it is
1:49
really worth that money because I know one thing about 5 Call Survival Supply
1:54
they do not cheap out on their stuff. A lot of the survival kits that you get
2:03
especially like on Amazon are cheap components. Chinese junk usually really not that great so I know this is a much higher quality survival kit than you're
2:18
gonna find probably anywhere else. All right so there it is. I can tell already
2:25
there's some good stuff in here. So first of all it's coming in the Alice Axe
2:34
These are great waterproof bags. They have a really nice zipper closure on
2:40
them. Similar to a Ziploc but much more heavy-duty. And we have our component
2:55
list. Now if you scan this QR code this actually will take you to their web page
3:06
and you can download a free copy of the US military survival menu the FM 21-76
3:17
so that's pretty cool. So here is our component list. Spark Light Kit, one
3:24
Survival Matches, one. Rescue Whistle, one. Signal Mirror, one. SIR-70 Light includes
3:33
three A-76 batteries, one. Three Whirl-Pak water storage bags, 36 ounce. One Katadyne
3:42
MP1 water treatment tablets, Chloridine Dioxide 20 pack. One 5KAL Mini Duck Tape Roll
3:52
2 inch by 100 inch dark green. One Derma Safe Folding Razor. One 5KAL Wire Saw
4:01
One Parachute Cord Type 3, 25 feet. One Parachute Cord Type 1A, 10 feet for tethers. One Skog Band
4:13
EPDM rubber, size medium. A Loksac Resillable Storage Bag, one quart. Pen All-Weather. Two
4:24
waterproof inspection sheets, two pages. That's what these are. Waterproof paper, an extra sheet here so you can write your notes, your kit list, and then it looks like you can do
4:40
expiration dates, add stuff, whatever you want to do. That's waterproof paper. Let's put
4:54
stuff right on top of the paper. So first item we have is this guy. Okay, looks like we have a
5:15
really nice high quality signal mirror. That is heavy-duty. Look at the thickness of it. You are
5:28
not going to break that at all. That is professional grade. It has signaling instructions on the back
5:42
Pretty nice. It's got a lanyard already tied up. Of course they put it in a protective paper to
5:52
keep it from scratching. That's something you really want to be careful with. You don't want
5:58
to scratch your mirror. So we've got that. Of course we have UCO Survival Stormproof Matches
6:15
There's 10 waterproof matches and two strikers in this pack. So nice. That's a quality match for
6:24
sure. Here is a flexible 16-inch saw. Now I will say this, wire saws come in all flavors and price
6:43
points and there are a lot of junky ones out there for sure. I have one of these saws of theirs
6:51
already and another kit that I purchased separately. And this thing is quality. Look at that. See the
7:02
teeth on that thing? That is gonna zip through some wood. And of course with these wire saws it's
7:08
all about technique. They do heat up, they do break, but if you do it correctly and use the
7:13
right techniques these work pretty well. And we'll do some testing of this stuff in another video
7:18
This is just the kit breakdown. There's the wire saw. You can look at the teeth on that. I mean I
7:24
can feel that. Really nice. I've gotten some of those wire saws in cheaper kits and they were
7:33
just wire. There was no teeth. Like picture hanging wire. So we got our saw. Fantastic
7:40
component. Processing wood is so important. Another really important aspect of survival kits is fire
7:50
making. We've got our matches which is fantastic, but now this is a really great product. I've had
7:57
these in the past. Let's see if I can get it out of here. Stuff is always kind of difficult the first
8:04
time. It's packed in nice and tight. There we go. So what this is, this is the Sparklight Aviation
8:22
Survival Firestarter. So what we have here is it comes with these tender tabs which are basically
8:27
kind of like a dental dam. But then you have basically just a flint like on a lighter. But
8:37
that's how you get those tender tabs going. So really simple. It's not going to be affected
8:45
by cold. It shouldn't be affected by moisture too much. I think there's like five or six of
9:00
those tender tabs in there. So we have our duct tape. We have a whistle. We have, oh boy if I can
9:26
get that out. There we go. There's a right and ring pen. That's that small one. And then this
9:32
it's jammed in there, is that's just the DermaRazor. And here's the Sear 70 light. These are fantastic little lights. Just a really cool product
10:04
Basically a mini kind of glow stick that you can use as a task light. This is the red one
10:11
So you can direct light there or you can use it as a marker. You put on the black cap that directs
10:25
light even more. Really cool product. I have several of these. I love them. So here's the
10:39
550 core. This is the good stuff. Good quality. And there is the what they call a Skog band
10:45
Basically a ranger band. Great item because you can of course secure stuff with it. But also it
10:52
makes a very good fire starter as well. So you can tell that that is nice quality. That's not
11:00
your cheap just around the middle hardware store 550 cord. It pretends to be 550 cord
11:07
Then we have the Whirl-Pak Emergency. Then we have the Whirl-Pak Emergency water storage bag
11:21
This is kind of cool because what 5-Call does is they package these in these these mylar I guess
11:30
you'd call it mylar reusable bags. They have like a lining on the inside and then they're
11:38
coated on the outside. So you can reuse these multiple times as storage. You can put water
11:46
in them, food, whatever. But here is the Whirl-Pak Emergency. If you're not familiar with these it's
12:01
a great way of transporting and storing water in emergency situations. These are the big ones
12:12
These will actually stand up when full and then you can roll them down and close them up with
12:18
that with this wire. Since they fold down so small and they're so lightweight there's no
12:32
reason not to have some of these in a kit. It just makes a lot of sense because you can fill
12:41
these with water and stick them in your u-pocket or coat pocket and transport water that way
12:49
The only thing I forgot to show was the water purification tablets but you know that's we all
12:55
know what those look like. So there's the kit. I think the only thing that really it's lacking
13:01
is a compass of some sort. There are some small micro compasses on the market that are fantastic
13:11
I'll try to put a link to one of those below so you can see it and then add it to your kit. I know
13:21
for the money this seems like a lot. It's a lot to purchase at once. $114 seems like quite a bit
13:29
But like I said the components are very quality. This is not cheap and if you just don't feel
13:36
comfortable putting together your own kit or sourcing this kind of stuff these are a good
13:41
option. You can buy several of these pack those into your get home bags or bug out bags. These
13:48
will fit into a BDU pocket very easily. Kind of stash them everywhere put them in a vehicle
13:54
whatever. Or you know you can go to 5-Call and buy a lot of these components individually make
14:00
your own kit and then add what you want and what you think is necessary. This covers a lot of bases
14:06
If you add navigation to it you've got a lot. And then of course you know you should always
14:12
be carrying some type of pocket knife, multi-tool, or fixed blade when you're out in the woods. And
14:19
of course food and things like that and water. But as a bare-bones minimal survival kit this
14:27
is fantastic. So links down below to this. Check out 5-Call's website. Make sure you check out
14:33
all the affiliate links for the Amazon store and check out the Facebook group. We're growing
14:39
2.9 thousand members right now and it's there's a lot of fun information on there people are sharing
14:45
and you're more than welcome to share your info too. And I'm gonna get out of here I got boxes
14:51
to unpack at the new house so we'll see you next time on the Prepared Wanderer. Thanks for watching
