DIY DEER FENCE for Small Gardens - Inexpensive & Easy in Under 1 Hour
Jan 26, 2026
Deer, deer, deer. You're so cute but such a nuisance in my garden! In this video I show how you can make a very easy and affordable deer fence to protect small areas of your garden from deer browsing. This approach is best for areas that are about 10' wide by 5' deep or smaller.
You can also use this same approach to protect small trees that you have recently planted so that the deer don't rub up against the trunk and destroy your newly planted tree. This is the same method you will often find at nature preserves protecting some of their newly planted sections.
I purchased all the items in this video for under $100 at Home Depot so it is definitely reasonable. The fence is rather non-invasive and doesn't look like an eye sore in the garden. Use this method to protect some of your favorite shrubs like Hydrangea, Roses and Viburnum or to protect smaller beds of newly planted perennials like Coneflower, Black eyed Susan, Daylily, Daisies and more. #deerfence #gardening #plants
