Mormonism, officially known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), is a Christian restorationist religious movement founded in the 19th century by Joseph Smith. Its followers, known as Mormons, are predominantly based in the United States, with a significant presence in other parts of the world.
