Stevie Mckenna Tears Into Conor Benn And Talks Florian Marku Fight!

Stevie, how are you doing? Yeah, I'm keeping well, training, always as usual, just always ready

Always ready, mate. That's exactly what I love to hear. You know, I see that you're in the gym. How is that going

Yeah, gym's just right outside my back door, so it's always handy getting ready

and training now at four o'clock so I'm just out here early and doing an interview so

it's handy to have the gym right at the back door no excuses every morning every day full time so

it's a good job well that's brilliant I mean obviously you know I'm gonna ask you but a lot

of fighters don't really live the life in between fights you look to me somebody who's really serious

about your craft and I can tell by the way you're talking about it that you're training in the gym

every single day so that is exceptional. Obviously thank you for giving me your time

just going to run through a couple of questions with you my brother. So when are we going to get

some fight news for you Stevie? Fight news coming really soon hopefully this week we'll know very

soon but I'm always in the gym as I said so I'm always ready to go no matter you know

give me a week or two notice, I'll be ready. I'm always in the gym, I'm always ready

So you'll hear something hopefully this week, some fight news, exciting news coming soon

And well, just on that, so I'm assuming that you know your opponent already

Is it going to be a step up from Mr. Brandon Dennis? Brandon Dennis My last opponent yeah Every fight I looking for step up fight I want to go in the right direction I want to go up in the rankings

I want to be in the top 10 in the world so my next opponent will be a step up

and I'm looking forward to going in there and being active again

I was a little bit inactive over this last year so I want to be banging out the fights

and banging out the knockouts yeah because the last time i obviously interviewed you was uh at the uh uh wembley arena um you

know and that was back in february mate so it is really good that we're going to get some fight

news hopefully i can grab that exclusive from you by the end of the week um so just you know the last

time that we spoke you had obviously um decimated your competition and you had said to me that you

wanted to fight a Mr. Conor Benn you said you don't care what he's taking you you said that you

you'd fight him on absolutely anything is that still the case are you still chasing that down

yeah 100% Conor Benn's a guy I've been calling out a long time as well a guy I'd like to get

into the ring but I don't see him taking a fight with me as it's too big of a risk a fight that

could be made as a me and Marku you know fight that I've been looking as well the past two years

He's been running from it. So that's a fight that, you know, a very fan-friendly fight

that people want to see all out action. You know, he's a big fan base in Albania

I have a big fan base in Ireland. So I can't see why that fight can't be made

You know, we've approached Ben Shalam a few times. And, you know, it's just he's the man to make the fight

and get it over the line. That is a fight that we would love to see Especially seeing that Florian Obviously I interviewed him Straight after his First round knockout win You know as you said all action How because you want to fight Marco next

Who else at 147 and thereabouts is on your hit list? Anyone, anyone that will, you know, take a fight

I'm one of the most avoidant fighters in boxing at the minute in the UK and Ireland

So anyone that will send me in the right direction, I want to be fighting active

I want big step-up fights. I want to become world champion. So any guys that is out there that wants to fight, let's do it

Incredible. And they will definitely be hearing this and they'll definitely be watching this interview

One thing that I wanted to talk about here at No Smoke Sport

We see what's happening, obviously, with the matchroom fighters. It seems like there's a fighter that's getting popped every single week, Stevie

Can I ask you, when and how often have you been tested

Yeah, there's not enough testing in boxing. So it's great to see matchroom, you know, weeding out all these cheats in boxing

because at the end of the day, it's life or death when you go into that ring

and any enhancements at all, all these fighters being caught out on

it's the proper order. I think more testing should be in play and weed out all these cheats

There's too many guys out there that's getting caught and there's too many fighters out there that's cheating

How often are you being tested, Stevie? I haven't been tested yet

When I was fighting in America I was tested but in the UK they don test unless it a big fight That is terrible you know I can see just how passionately that you are speaking um about you know the whole testing within boxing I can tell

that you're a clean athlete mate okay and that's just an opinion of mine uh and a strong one at

that now just one more question for myself and then I'll let you go and I just want to say thank

you so much for giving me your time uh you had said that anybody can get it you know at any time

I want to know, what is the dream place and the dream opponent that you would like to have

Obviously, you know, any time in your career. Now in my career, I'd like to fight Conor Benn

That's a fight that in the future could be made. You know, his father fought an Irishman

and I'm sure he'd like to live it back and get revenge for his father

and an Irish guy beating him. It's a fight that could be made in Dublin

It'd be a sellout. Two entertaining style fighters both always going in for the knockout

Fights like that need to be made in boxing. Too many guys are avoiding each other

It's getting boring and the best have to fight the best and put on entertaining fights
