Hi Hi, my name is Paul and I want to welcome you here to my kitchen and today I'm going to make Norwegian wapo
0:10
If you've been to Norway before, you might have a norwegian wafel already, maybe in a cafe with a coffee
0:25
And they're shaped, you might have a Norwegian waffle already, maybe in a cafe with a coffee
0:37
and they're shaped like a heart. They're much thinner than a Belgian waffle and we also have very different
0:46
toppings on them. There are probably hundreds if not thousands of waffle recipes out there but I'm gonna
0:55
follow the recipe of my favorite waffle house here in Oslo which is called Haddall's Waffli and
1:01
actually the guy who runs that place not so long ago he was was appointed by the Minister of Culture to be the Minister of waffles here in Norway and that shows how seriously we take waffles So to make this
1:19
recipe you will need two eggs, 125 grams of sugar, 225 grams of butter, half a
1:28
tablespoon of salt, half a tablespoon of cinnamon, half a tablespoon of cardamom, and
1:34
a quarter tablespoon of baking powder, 175 grams of an orange pop, 175 grams of water, 525 grams of 1% milk
1:45
and 500 grams of wheat flour. This makes approximately 10 waffles. The waffles are ready and here comes the best part which is to eat the waffles
2:35
In front of me here I have various kinds of toppings. There is butter, sugar
2:43
sour cream, strawberry jam and Norwegian brown cheese brunozst which is a caramelized goat cheese
2:55
There's one important thing to know about waffles and it is that you always eat the
2:59
waffles with your hands. So you grab it like this and then you break them apart
3:06
You can see that they're all little hearts. And I'm going to
3:13
I going to start with one nice combination and that is just a little bit of butter and then some sugar Next one is I think it one of my favorites and I put a little bit of sour cream and then I have some homemade strawberry jam
3:38
Now the last one is the one with the brown cheese. This is what we call a Oste-Havul, a cheese cutter
3:48
You hold on to the brown cheese and you cut off a piece
3:52
This is a very sweet cheese. Let's do two pieces. Like this
4:02
You fold it together and enjoy. Well, I think I've had my fair share of waffles now for at least a couple of hours
