Apple AirPods 5 hands-on: Better noise canceling for less!

Hey, I'm here at Apple's Surprise and Shine event, where it announced the new foldable phone, but it also announced new AirPods 5

And they do come in two versions like before, but a couple of key differences here

For starters, both have active noise canceling, and Apple has actually lowered the price, if you can believe it

It's raised the price on its phones, but the AirPods have come down in price

The base model with active noise canceling is now $129. That model used to cost $179 before, and the new step-up version costs $149

That step-up model has a few extra features. It has wireless charging

It also has swipe controls for volume in its stems. And on top of that, it has a little bit better battery life

The step-up model has five hours with noise canceling on and up to seven hours with it off

and the step-down model, the entry-level model, has four hours of battery life with noise cancelling on

and up to six hours with it off. So that's what it was before with the original active noise cancelling model

So there were a lot of rumors with AirPods with tiny infrared cameras in them

We didn't get those maybe next year with a new AirPods Pro model

On top of that, while the earbuds look identical to the AirPods 4

Apple says it's changed the acoustic architecture on the inside to make them sound a little bit better

I didn't really get a chance to hear them. It was a noisy demo room. They're supposed to sound a little better clarity, maybe a little bit better bass

So there are both improvements to sound and noise canceling. Apple says it's 50% more effective

One thing we didn't get with these earbuds is the Apple H3 chip

These use the H2 chip. but you are getting better earbuds for essentially lower prices
