Africa as a child he was quiet and
0:50
curious while other kids played outside
0:53
Elon loved
0:56
reading his favorite books were about
0:58
science fiction which made him dream
1:01
about Rockets robots and the
1:05
future but elon's school life was hard
1:08
he was often
1:11
bullied one day classmates pushed him
1:14
down the stairs and he had to go to the
1:18
hospital even though these experiences
1:20
made him feel lonely they also made him
1:25
stronger Elon learned how to stay
1:27
focused on his dreams no matter what
1:29
what others
1:32
said when Elon was 10 years old his
1:35
parents bought him a
1:38
computer for most kids it would have
1:40
been just a fun
1:43
toy but for Elon it was a challenge and
1:47
a chance to learn something
1:50
new he taught himself how to program by
1:53
reading a
1:55
manual at 12 years old he created a
1:58
video game called blaster and sold it
2:00
for
2:02
$500 this was his first step into the
2:05
world of technology and
2:10
business as a teenager Elon dreamed of
2:13
living in the United States the land of
2:18
opportunity at 17 he left South Africa
2:22
and moved to
2:24
Canada then to the US to study at the
2:27
University of Pennsylvania
2:31
after graduation Elon started his first
2:34
company ZIP 2 in the
2:38
1990s zip 2 helped newspapers go online
2:42
by creating City
2:44
Guides it was a new idea and it became
2:48
very
2:50
successful in 1999 Elon sold zip 2 for
2:54
$37
2:57
million he was only 2 7 years old and
3:01
already a
3:03
millionaire but instead of stopping
3:05
there Elon wanted to do
3:08
more he used the money to start a
3:11
company called
3:14
x.com this company became PayPal one of
3:17
the first online payment
3:21
systems in 2002 eBay bought PayPal for
3:25
$1.5
3:28
billion El now had enough money to
3:32
retire but he wasn't interested in
3:35
relaxing he wanted to make a
3:41
difference with his Paypal earnings Elon
3:44
started
3:47
SpaceX his goal was to make space travel
3:49
cheaper and help humans explore other
3:54
planets many people thought this idea
3:57
was impossible and SpaceX faced a lot of
4:02
failures the first three rocket launches
4:05
didn't work and by 2008 the company was
4:08
almost out of
4:11
money but Elon didn't give
4:14
up on the fourth try the rocket
4:17
successfully launched into
4:21
space it was a historic moment SpaceX
4:25
became the first private company to send
4:27
a rocket into Earth's orbit
4:30
at the same time Elon joined Tesla
4:35
Motors Tesla wanted to make electric
4:38
cars but many people didn't believe it
4:40
could
4:42
work Elon believed in the idea of clean
4:45
energy and worked hard to prove the
4:47
doubters
4:50
wrong in 2008 Tesla released its first
4:55
car the Roadster an electric car that
4:58
was fast and Stu
5:01
stylish later Tesla introduced the model
5:04
S model 3 and other cars which made the
5:08
company famous around the
5:11
world today Tesla is a leader in clean
5:16
energy creating electric cars solar
5:20
panels and Battery
5:23
Systems but elon's Vision didn't stop
5:26
there he started other projects too
5:31
with Solar City he wanted to bring clean
5:34
energy to
5:36
homes with neuralink he began exploring
5:40
how to connect the human brain to
5:43
computers and with the boring company he
5:46
started building tunnels to improve
5:48
transportation in
5:51
cities these projects all show elon's
5:54
Big Goal to solve problems and make life
5:57
better for people everywhere
6:04
elon's personal life has also been full
6:06
of ups and
6:09

6:11
actress Tula Riley and had a well-known
6:14
relationship with musician
6:17
Grimes he has 10 children and even
6:20
created a special school for them called
6:23
Ad
6:25
Astra the school teaches kids to think
6:28
creatively and solve problems instead of
6:30
just memorizing
6:33
facts elon's life is not without
6:36
controversy his bold ideas and outspoken
6:40
personality sometimes cause
6:43
debates for example some people didn't
6:46
like his decision to buy Twitter in
6:49
2022 others criticize his
6:53
tweets but Elon doesn't let criticism
6:56
stop
6:57
him he wants said if something is
7:01
important enough you should try even if
7:04
the risk of failure is
7:07
high today elon's biggest dream is to
7:10
take humans to
7:13
Mars he believes Earth is fragile and we
7:16
need a backup plan for
7:19
Humanity with SpaceX He is building a
7:23
spaceship called Starship which could
7:25
carry people to
7:27
Mars many think this dream is impossible
