Dr Baruch's Website: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv6lT--qdAk The last book of the bible I gave my attention to was the book of Galatians. I’ve always wanted to dive deep into the Gospel of John but never really got through it. But after watching Dr. Baruch Korman’s exposition of John, I felt compelled to share it on the site. The Gospel of John is a unique and powerful book, and Korman’s insights helped me to understand it in a new way. In particular, I was struck by his analysis of the structure of the book. As anyone who has read the Bible knows, the festivals of Israel play a significant role in God’s word and plan of redemption.

hello and this is tahiba times.com and
0:02
uh i just wanted to uh
0:05
um
0:06
share this um study this morning that i
0:08
did on the book of john john chapter one
0:11
verse one through ten
0:13
and i've been watching uh dr baruch on
0:15
corman he's a messianic jew
0:18
and he's being his exposition of the
0:20
scripture is pretty solid i really like
0:22
it because
0:23
as uh gentiles
0:25
and us as gentile christians we don't
0:28
fully understand
0:29
the richness
0:30
and uh
0:32
um i'll say the power of scriptures
0:35
because we don't have uh we are not
0:37
jewish by nature so the jews were given
0:41
the oracles of god as told in the book
0:43
of romans
0:44
so for to see a judah actually
0:46
understand the scripture and explains it
0:48
from a jewish background is incredible
0:50
and i've enjoyed his lectures because he
0:53
gives the meaning of all the jewish
0:55
festivals what they were meant to convey
0:58
and how they all point to the messiah
1:00
jesus christ so
1:02
i've been dodging the book of john for a
1:04
long time i mean i've read it but i've
1:06
not read it throughout i've read
1:08
portions of it and i keep going back to
1:10
the beginning because it's a big book
1:12
and going through the book of john
1:14
probably might take us two years
1:16
a little less
1:17
but i wanted to also look at it because
1:19
i believe it is so
1:21
rich with truth that uh i felt like it's
1:24
a good it's a good book too to endeavor
1:26
to to study and i've really enjoyed uh
1:29
dr baruch's um lectures i will have a
1:32
link for his entire exposition of the
1:34
book in the description below but i just
1:36
wanted to cover um verses 10 today
1:40
so um before i get into it though i just
1:42
want to let people know like we are
1:44
living in
1:45
extremely dangerous times
1:48
i mean if you look around
1:50
as i was saying as we if you look around
1:52
we are living in very precarious times
1:54
like
1:55
people are dying left to right there's a
1:58
pandemic there's people shooting up
2:00
schools and
2:02
and then roe versus wade and the fiasco
2:04
people are more interested in
2:05
hypothetical cases and actual abortion
2:08
is just incredible to see how things are
2:11
turning like upside down and and then
2:14
the scripture talks about it there will
2:15
come a time when people will be more
2:17
interested in the lies and the truth and
2:19
we see that in the book of timothy he
2:21
warns about these things where people
2:23
will be brutal lovers of themselves
2:25
lovers of um just
2:28
crazy stuff and the book of romans
2:30
speaks of
2:31
the unnatural relations between men and
2:33
men women and women and how the level of
2:35
violence will increase in the last days
2:37
now again i'm not saying that this is
2:39
the last day's last days but this is
2:41
just giving us a preview of what may
2:43
happen in years to come
2:45
and uh for us christian is better that
2:48
we are equipped with the truth
2:50
to stand strong uh in the scripture and
2:53
and i believe right now more than ever
2:55
you better be scripturally grounded
2:57
because there's going to be again an
3:00
increase of false prophets and false
3:02
teachers so the best thing for you to do
3:05
as a christian eye is to invest yourself
3:07
in understanding the scripture and what
3:08
they mean okay
3:10
so with that said we're going to be
3:12
looking at the book of john
3:13
uh chapter chapter 1 verses 1 through
3:16
10. so basically
3:18
um
3:19
if you go to the book of leviticus uh
3:21
god lays out on specific instructions
3:24
for how
3:25
the jewish festivals are to be
3:27
celebrated and then throughout the
3:29
entire old testament we see the example
3:31
of how these festivals were observed but
3:34
in the new testament there's like a
3:36
different approach and if you look at
3:38
the book of john for example he writes
3:40
his gospel with a strong emphasis on the
3:43
festivals of israel
3:45
and in doing so he gives like weight to
3:48
their deeper spiritual meanings this is
3:50
the whole reason why
3:52
john writes his gospel he wants to
3:54
convey a certain truth about the messiah
3:56
christ and he goes into all the
3:58
festivals he talks about it i never saw
4:00
it until i i uh
4:02
i was listening to dr baruch corman's
4:04
lecture and i was like wow this is
4:06
interesting the progression and uh the
4:08
way he does that he breaks it down is
4:10
incredible now um
4:12
basically uh what what what john does is
4:15
he links these festivals to specific
4:17
events in jesus life and john shows that
4:20
they foreshadowed and pointed the
4:22
ultimate uh redemption that was going to
4:24
be accomplished to through jesus christ
4:27
so again he provides us a deeper
4:29
understanding of how these festivals fit
4:31
into god's larger plan of redemption
4:34
so again in his exposition i just really
4:37
enjoyed how he broke down the entire
4:40
passage i mean it was long and i tried
4:42
to summarize it into like smaller chunks
4:45
so i'll tell you exactly what i believed
4:47
um i gathered from his exposition so
4:50
first let's read on the passage and i'm
4:52
going to read from the esb version
4:55
so the scripture says in the beginning
4:58
was the word and the word was with god
5:01
and the word was god he was in the
5:04
beginning
5:05
with god
5:06
all things were made through him and
5:09
without him was not anything made that
5:11
was made in him was life and the life
5:15
was the light of man the light shines in
5:18
the darkness and the darkness has not
5:20
overcome it there was a man sent from
5:23
god whose name was john he came as a
5:25
witness to bear witness about the light
5:28
that all might believe through him he
5:31
was not the light but came to bear
5:33
witness about the light the true light
5:35
which gives light to everyone was coming
5:38
into the world he was in a world and the
5:40
world was made through him yet the world
5:43
did not know him
5:45
so i was thinking about going through
5:48
verses one through ten but i think i
5:50
might just do verse one today i'm just
5:52
gonna look at john one verse one in the
5:54
beginning was the word and the word was
5:57
with god and the word was god we're just
5:59
gonna look at that and then maybe
6:00
tomorrow i'm gonna continue with verse
6:03
two so in the very first like verse of
6:05
his gospel
6:07
john makes a reference to the beginning
6:10
so in doing so he's making a strong
6:13
connection with the book of work genesis
6:15
because he wants to give the reader a
6:18
deeper understanding of his relevance
6:20
so john also makes use of the keyword
6:22
word w-o-r-d in the verse right
6:26
so he's going to use it several times in
6:28
the first chapter so we're eventually
6:31
going to see that the word it like word
6:34
the word is a reference to the messiah
6:36
jesus christ
6:37
and the word has to do with god's
6:39
mindset
6:40
god's plan and god's purpose
6:43
so the word logic
6:45
is derived from the logos which means
6:48
word logos is word the word
6:51
and so basically what this is
6:53
essentially saying is this the messiah
6:55
christ
6:56
who's the word of god reveals what
6:59
the logic of god he reveals the
7:01
reasoning of god he reveals on the plan
7:04
of god and the purpose of god so we also
7:06
learn from this verse that the word
7:08
himself was also what god because the
7:11
scripture say in the beginning was the
7:13
word and the word was with god and the
7:15
word was god
7:16
so we also learned that jesus is also
7:18
god
7:19
so what is john trying to convey to his
7:21
readers and to you and i today
7:23
so
7:25
the word being with god when he says in
7:27
the beginning in the beginning was the
7:28
word that reveals what the intimacy
7:30
between
7:31
god the father and god the son
7:34
and when you hear these two terms god
7:36
the son and god the father
7:38
the first thing that should come to your
7:39
mind is what the trinity now again i
7:42
don't want to open a can of worms
7:44
so i know that the term trinity doesn't
7:46
appear in the bible but the concept is
7:49
there even from genesis the scripture
7:51
says let us make man in our image so
7:53
again
7:54
you can't deny the trinity you can't
7:56
deny that is god the son and god the
7:58
father now we are not talking about two
8:00
different essences but we are talking
8:02
about the same being
8:04
with three distinct persons god the
8:06
father god the son and god the spirit
8:09
now if you go um um a little further
8:13
god the son
8:14
uh yeshua or messiah the messiah christ
8:16
he is the one that took upon the flesh
8:18
and came
8:19
up on planet earth and the reason why he
8:21
came is to do what to reveal the plans
8:23
of god so we're gonna see a connection
8:25
between the gospel of john in the book
8:27
of genesis as we go through this entire
8:29
book but today i just wanted to
8:31
introduce um that to you today so again
8:34
this is not done in verse 1
8:37
he talks also about the divinity of
8:38
jesus which i just mentioned earlier and
8:41
the word was god he said and the word
8:43
was god so by saying that the word was
8:46
god
8:46
john is basically demonstrating the
8:49
divine nature of the messiah jesus
8:51
christ and to put it in simpler terms
8:53
jesus is god
8:55
yes i said it jesus is god and if you
8:58
say this uh in the midst of muslims they
9:01
lose their mind
9:02
they say god has no son and that's
9:04
because a lot of muslims don't
9:06
understand the meaning of son they think
9:09
when we say jesus is god son or god
9:12
himself they think they are saying that
9:13
god has relations with a woman and out
9:16
of it became a person that's what my
9:18
cousin said to me when i was talking to
9:20
my cousin he's a fervent muslim and i
9:22
said no when we say that jesus is god's
9:24
son he's in of the same essence as god
9:27
so he is god very god now
9:30
when jesus took upon the human nature we
9:33
refer to that as the hypostatic union in
9:36
the sense that jesus has two nature he
9:38
has the divine nature and also the human
9:41
nature now when this descript the
9:43
scripture says that jesus is god or in
9:45
the beginning was the word and the word
9:47
was with god and the word was god that
9:49
means that he existed for all eternity
9:52
in the sense that there was never a time
9:54
when jesus wasn't so you he always is
9:57
and he always existed
9:59
and john would later
10:01
he speak he's going to speak about the
10:02
the dual nature of christ in the later
10:05
verses i just introduced that earlier
10:07
and theologians call that the hypostatic
10:10
union and we call him the god men
10:12
now but now all we know from the first
10:14
verse is that in the book of genesis
10:17
the word jesus word already existed
10:21
because he is eternal and he is god of
10:24
the same essence as god himself so i'm
10:27
going to stop here and then we're going
10:28
to continue with this lecture maybe
10:30
tomorrow or some other time so all i
10:32
want you to remember today is that in
10:34
the beginning was the word and the word
10:37
was with god and the word was god in the
10:39
sense that he existed since the
10:41
beginning in genesis when the scripture
10:42
says let there be light
10:45
jesus is the reason of god the the the
10:48
plan of the he is uh the word of god the
10:51
logos the logic of god he reveals the
10:53
plan of god so he existed from all
10:56
eternity there was never a time where he
10:57
wasn't he always is he's in that
11:00
intimate relationship with the father
11:02
it's almost like he's a face-to-face
11:03
relationship this is what the scripture
11:05
says he was with god
11:08
in an intimate relationship and he was
11:10
god himself so his essence is divine so
11:13
jesus is god that's what i want you to
11:15
take away from here jesus is god and
11:18
then the next thing i want to talk about
11:20
is verse 2 we're going to go into a
11:21
little deeper all right again so john
11:24
wants to connect genesis and and then
11:27
his his gospel because he's trying to
11:29
show us a pattern here that since the
11:31
beginning
11:32
jesus was there he's always been there
11:34
because he is god because he is so there
11:37
was never a time where he wasn't as far
11:39
as his divine nature is concerned
11:41
alright so we're gonna continue uh next
11:43
time again if you want to learn more i
11:46
will encourage you to watch dr baruch's
11:48
uh lecture on love
