Watch John MacArthur exposition of this passage, see link below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=To_sAVeDG5U&t=23s British philosopher Bertrand Russell once said that the reason why he couldn’t become a Christian is because Jesus was not reliable. And he based his assertions on Matthew 24:34-35 34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.’ He basically accused Jesus of being a false prophet; Russell claimed that Jesus made a false prophecy since the generation he mentioned didn’t experience the events Jesus claimed they were going to be part of. Bertrand Russell isn’t the only one who has struggled with this passage, it has been a stumbling block for many even within the body of Christ ( The Church). I also had a very difficult time understanding this verse. If Jesus was wrong, then obviously He can’t be trusted and Christianity is a waste of time. So today we’re going to be looking at this verse more closely and see if Bertrand Russell made a valid statement, see video Scripture References: Matthew 24 Matthew 11:25 1 Corinthians 2:14 1 John 4
