How do we know that we believe in the true God, see link below

Several months ago, we embarked on a journey to understand the meaning of the word faith. If you ask ten people what faith means, I can guarantee you that you’ll get ten different answers. Some define faith as a leap in the dark, others see it more as strong feeling that leads to an action, still others think of it as a personal element that defines how one lives his/her life, the list goes on. This morning, our task is to understand the nature and object of true Faith. I’m solely going to be addressing the choir right now, and my hope is that anyone who listens will be given the mind to understand what genuine faith is all about. See video

hello good morning this is tayiba
0:02
taibbs.com
0:04
and today we are going to be talking
0:05
about the nature
0:07
and object of true faith and
0:10
uh our passages that we're going to
0:12
focus on are hebrews 11
0:14
verse 1 to roman stain 17
0:17
and we might look at some other uh
0:19
passages
0:20
so let's jump into the intro
0:24
so basically um several months ago we
0:27
embarked on a journey
0:28
to understand the meaning of the word
0:31
faith
0:32
and if you ask 10 people what faith
0:34
means
0:35
i can guarantee you that you're going to
0:36
get like 10 different answers
0:38
and some define faith as a leap in the
0:41
dark
0:42
and others see it more as a strong
0:45
feeling that leads to an action
0:48
and some other people think of it as a
0:49
personal element that defines how one
0:52
leaves
0:52
his or her life and the least goes on
0:56
so this morning my task is to understand
0:59
and the nature and object of true faith
1:02
that's what we're gonna do
1:03
and i'm gonna be so like like
1:07
solely preaching and and talking and
1:10
addressing the choir
1:12
basically this message has a specific
1:15
target
1:15
is believers in christ and my hope is
1:18
that anyone that listens to this
1:20
will be given the mind to understand
1:23
what genuine
1:24
faith is all about okay so
1:27
that's what we're gonna do and so let's
1:29
jump into that
1:30
so first we need to understand the
1:32
nature of true faith
1:35
so according to hebrews 11 verse one to
1:38
two our faith is
1:41
faith is the assurance of things to hope
1:44
for and the conviction of things
1:46
not seen for by it the people of old
1:49
received the accommodation
1:53
so basically the biblical definition of
1:56
faith
1:57
is pretty clear faith according to the
1:59
bible
2:00
is being sure of what you hope for and
2:02
certain of what you believe
2:04
and when the author writes on these
2:06
words he's not
2:08
validating all belief system he's not
2:10
saying that every
2:11
belief system has this type of
2:14
definition of faith
2:15
so when you write he's not saying that
2:17
the assurance of things hoped for and
2:19
the conviction of things not seen is
2:21
equally valid
2:22
for all belief systems his definition of
2:26
faith is exclusively
2:28
applying to those that have put their
2:30
trust in the god of the bible
2:32
let me repeat that again his definition
2:34
of faith
2:35
exclusively applies to those that have
2:37
put their trust in the god
2:39
of the bible this is why the author adds
2:42
that the people of
2:43
old received the accommodation for their
2:46
faith
2:46
is talking about people like noah
2:49
abraham
2:50
moses and sarah david samuel
2:53
samuel and then the list goes on there's
2:55
a lot okay if you go to
2:57
hebrews 11 the author talks about by
2:59
faith
3:00
abraham did this by faith noah did this
3:02
by faith
3:03
sarah did this so he's referring to
3:05
those people so
3:07
when he's talking about faith and he
3:08
gives that definition
3:10
of being um the assurance of things
3:12
hoped for and the conviction of things
3:14
not seen
3:14
he's addressing specific people of a
3:17
specific
3:18
background he's talking about those that
3:20
believe in the god of the scripture
3:22
the god of the bible and there's a
3:24
reason why
3:25
i said earlier that i'm i'm talking to
3:27
the choir i'm addressing the choir
3:30
faith isn't true faith if you don't
3:32
believe in the god of the bible let me
3:33
say that again
3:35
faith is not true faith if you do not
3:38
believe in the god of the bible
3:39
and i know some people are gonna get
3:41
upset but this is the truth
3:43
and the reason why i'm saying that is
3:44
because if you have been following uh
3:47
these lectures
3:48
uh i established long ago through a post
3:52
and video
3:53
that the god of the bible is the true
3:55
god so
3:56
if you you want i'm gonna give you a
3:58
link and you can check that link in the
4:00
description i'm gonna have a link for
4:01
you
4:02
because before i say these things there
4:04
is a premise the premises
4:05
we believe and we know for sure with
4:07
certainty
4:08
that the god of the bible is the true
4:10
god this is why his definition of faith
4:13
is the only one that matters because he
4:15
is a true god and for proof of
4:17
about it i have a link for you so
4:20
since he since he is the only true god
4:23
so his words are true
4:24
and that's the case his definition of
4:27
faith is objective
4:28
absolute and that's the true definition
4:30
so we cannot have any definition of
4:32
faith
4:33
apart from the god of the bible's
4:34
definition so this is
4:36
the true definition of true faith
4:40
this is the premise now we need to talk
4:43
about the
4:44
object of true faith and that's
4:46
important
4:47
because most people base their faith
4:51
on personal experiences and empirical
4:53
evidences
4:54
and i'm not saying that empirical
4:56
evidence and experiences
4:58
are not good they help in some cases but
5:01
it can be very dangerous to fully
5:03
rely on them it can be very dangerous if
5:05
that's all
5:06
you you rely on because an experience
5:09
can lead me to believe that what i
5:11
believe is true when we all know that
5:13
satan
5:14
is a deceiver so he can also deceive you
5:17
so this is why the
5:18
object of true faith must be god himself
5:21
the word of god
5:22
okay so if the object of my faith and
5:24
your or your faith is my experience
5:26
then it is given to change which means
5:29
i'm standing
5:30
and you are standing on shaky grounds
5:32
but if the
5:33
object of true faith is the word of god
5:36
then you are standing
5:37
on solid ground that's not sinking saint
5:40
so according to romans 10 17 this is how
5:43
romans 10 17 defines
5:45
faith so faith comes from hearing and
5:48
hearing from
5:48
the word of god so faith comes by
5:50
hearing and hearing
5:52
by the word of god so basically what
5:55
this is saying in essence is that
5:57
god himself is the author of faith
6:00
in a person i'll repeat that again it is
6:03
god himself who is the author
6:05
of true faith in a person scripture also
6:08
says that without
6:09
faith it's impossible to please god
6:11
that's hebrews 11
6:12
5 or 6 this means that the person
6:16
without
6:17
true biblical faith is not pleasing to
6:20
god
6:21
and now we need to define what the
6:23
person without true beautiful faith is
6:25
or looks like again i say that again a
6:28
person
6:29
without true biblical faith
6:32
is not living by faith and is not
6:35
pleasing to god
6:37
this is so key now
6:41
who's the person without true faith you
6:43
will see
6:44
anyone who does not have the spirit of
6:47
god
6:48
i'm talking about the god of the bible
6:50
does not have true faith
6:52
which means anything else beside the god
6:56
of the bible
6:57
is not true okay again i'm saying
7:01
i know people are gonna get offended but
7:03
rightfully so because this is
7:05
clear anyone who does not have the
7:07
spirit of the god of the bible
7:09
does not have true faith what you have
7:12
is a placebo
7:13
what you have is a counterfeit it's not
7:16
true
7:17
because only the regenerated person
7:20
can exude true faith so if you're not a
7:23
child of god
7:24
and by a child of god i mean if you are
7:26
not a disciple of jesus christ
7:28
then your faith is futile and is a
7:30
delusion
7:31
you don't have faith because you cannot
7:34
please god
7:35
and you are not pleasing to god as a
7:37
matter of fact you are an enemy of god
7:39
because
7:40
now you have a counterfeit and you are
7:42
basically opposing
7:44
true faith because scripture says in
7:46
romans 8 verse 7 to 8
7:48
for the mind that is set on the flesh is
7:50
hostile to god
7:51
for it does not submit to god's law
7:53
indeed it cannot
7:55
so those who are in the flesh cannot
7:57
please god and by those who are in the
7:59
flesh he means those who do not have
8:01
true faith those people are not pleasing
8:04
the god because they do not have the
8:05
spirit of god
8:06
living in them and this is important and
8:10
scripture also adds in romans
8:12
8 14 for all who are led by the spirit
8:15
of god are sons of god
8:17
he didn't say anybody he said all who
8:19
are led
8:20
by the spirit of god and the god is the
8:23
god of the bible
8:24
those are the true sons and daughters of
8:26
god okay
8:28
so basically if you are not in dwell
8:30
with the holy spirit
8:32
you are not exuding true faith but what
8:34
you have is a fabrication
8:36
of your own so how do you acquire true
8:39
faith it's impossible
8:40
you cannot acquire true faith because
8:42
true faith is only
8:44
uh given by god himself this is why
8:47
scripture says
8:48
faith comes by hearing and hearing by
8:50
the word of god so it's impossible
8:52
unless god himself enables you to
8:54
receive his word
8:55
so if you are hearing these words that
8:57
i'm sharing with you
8:59
and the holy spirit has enabled you to
9:00
not resist them
9:02
consider yourself blessed i'll say it
9:04
again
9:06
if you are hearing this word that i'm
9:07
sharing with you and the holy spirit has
9:09
enabled you
9:11
to not resist them then you can consider
9:13
yourself blessed
9:15
but if you find yourself raging that you
9:18
are not a child of god
9:19
just yet and i pray that he suffers he
9:22
suffers your heart
9:23
so you can receive these words with
9:25
grace because it's very clear
9:27
the scripture says it without faith
9:30
it's impossible to please god and faith
9:33
comes from god so if you do not have a
9:36
faith that is based on the true
9:38
biblical definition of faith that you do
9:40
not have faith what you have is a
9:42
counterfeit
9:43
and this is so clear that's all i wanted
9:47
to say this morning so i want you to go
9:48
back and and watch this again
9:51
and then if you want proofs for why i
9:53
believe
9:54
the the the god of the scriptures the
9:56
true god again i gave you that link in
9:58
the description
9:59
be sure to check that out have a
10:00
wonderful day and i'll see you next time
10:02
thank you
