The Flood, Noah’s Reverent Fear, The Dove & The Freshly Plucked Leaf | The Implications
Feb 20, 2025
I didn’t plan on reading Genesis 8 at all this week, but as I was reading Hebrews 11, the chapter centered on faith, I was led to go back in time to look at certain specific events during Noah’s Life. And the elements that caught my attention were the flood , Noah’s reverent fear, the dove and the freshly plucked olive leaf after the flood. I wanted to understand the significance of each of the elements mentioned and that’s what we’ll be looking at today.

welcome back again this is ty from Ty
0:03
XCOM or Hazuki XCOM whichever one you
0:07
want to use and today we're gonna be
0:09
talking about the floor
0:11
Noah's prevalent fear the dog and if
0:14
freshly plucked olive leaf and their
0:16
significance like there's some kind of
0:18
implications and at first let me go to
0:21
my intro real quick
0:22
bye I did not plan on talking about
0:26
Noah's Ark and all this stuff and
0:28
actually I didn't plan on reading
0:30
Genesis 8 are all this week
0:33
was my focus was on Hebrews 11 the
0:36
chapter is centered on faith so I was
0:38
led to go back in time to look at
0:40
certain specific events in Noah's life
0:43
and the elements I caught my attention
0:46
where the flawed Noah's reverent fear
0:48
the door and it freshly brought olive
0:51
leaf after the flood now I wanted to
0:54
understand the significance of each of
0:56
the elements mentioned and that's what
0:58
was gonna be looking at today basically
1:00
so before I do that less actually I want
1:05
to read Hebrews 11 real quick and then
1:07
we gonna get to this in a second okay so
1:10
let's go to Hebrews 11 verse 6 to 8 and
1:15
I'm reading out of the ESV now the
1:18
scripture says and without faith it is
1:21
impossible to please God for whoever who
1:25
draw near to God must believe that he
1:27
exists for he is and that he rewards
1:30
those who earnestly seek after him and
1:33
by faith Noah being warned by God
1:36
concerning events as yet unseen in
1:40
reverent fear constructed an ark for the
1:43
saving of his household and by these he
1:45
condemned the world and became an heir
1:47
of the righteousness that comes by faith
1:50
now what is all that means you know what
1:53
I read it you know I'll take it at face
1:56
value but at the same time I was led to
1:58
go back to Genesis 8 to look at Noah's
2:00
reverent fear and why that's so
2:02
important so we're gonna be looking
2:04
right now so now the first thing I
2:06
wanted to talk about was there fraud any
2:09
significance
2:10
now the inhabitants of Sodom we
2:13
just after Noah especially lots
2:15
sons-in-law didn't take lots of warnings
2:19
seriously and finally because Lord
2:21
Himself wasn't living as righteous as he
2:24
could he should have and as a result the
2:27
wrath of God consumed the entire city my
2:30
burning son for everybody died and I'm
2:32
sure a lot of people you know they knew
2:34
what was gonna happen didn't know they
2:35
were living up to what God expected and
2:37
he just laughed because their privacy to
2:39
themselves nothing is gonna happen we
2:42
are good in the same way like prior to
2:45
Sodom folks in Loris time they laughed
2:48
at the idea of the impending destruction
2:50
and therefore they never took it off
2:52
nor seriously and he perished Noah
2:55
talked to the people he told him there's
2:57
gonna be a flood everybody's gonna die
2:59
the rain is gonna come - probably 40
3:00
days and 40 nights and they just laughed
3:03
they laughed him to scorn and that's
3:05
gonna happen even today in our day many
3:08
laughs and ridiculed a reality of Lost
3:11
Ark and story and do you think it to be
3:13
a fairy tale they think is just a
3:14
bold-faced lie all this Bible stuff is
3:17
not true man while who believes that
3:19
kind of stuff but here's the thing just
3:22
like that someday Christ will return and
3:25
charge the world and it might be too
3:27
late for some people to repent and God
3:29
has always given us prototypes and the
3:32
flawed Sodom and Gomorrah are a small
3:34
copy of what is to come when Christ
3:36
returns
3:37
so my exhortation is today if you hear
3:40
his voice if you listen in to this and
3:42
it's always really speaking to you do
3:44
not harden your heart and repent take
3:47
this time to repent now let's hear what
3:49
Jesus himself had to say about his
3:51
second coming we're gonna read Luke
3:53
17:26 to 37 to understand them so again
3:58
this is the ESV and the scripture says
4:01
just asked it was in the days of Noah so
4:04
will it be in the days of the Son of Man
4:06
they were eating and drinking and
4:09
marrying and being given in marriage
4:11
until the day when Noah entered the Ark
4:14
and the flood came and destroyed them
4:16
all likewise just as it was in the days
4:21
of lot they were eating and drinking
4:22
buying and selling planting and building
4:25
but only
4:26
day when lot went out of Sodom fire and
4:29
sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed
4:32
them all so will he be on the day when
4:34
the Son of Man is revealed on the second
4:36
coming on that day let the one who is on
4:39
the housetop move his goods in the house
4:41
not come down to take them away and
4:43
likewise let the one who's in his field
4:45
not turn back remember Lot's wife
4:49
whoever seeks to preserve his life will
4:51
lose it but whoever loses his life will
4:54
keep it I'll tell you in that night
4:56
there will be two in one bed one will be
4:59
taken away and the other left there will
5:01
be two women grinding together one will
5:03
be taken and the other left and they
5:04
stayed home where our Lord and you say
5:07
to them where the crossings there
5:10
diverges from God
5:11
this is the Word of God take it very
5:13
seriously now let's go back to the
5:15
slides so now we understand they're the
5:18
flawed any significance because someday
5:20
there will there will be judgment and
5:22
it's not up it's not optional
5:23
it's going to happen because we have had
5:26
two prototypes and this is to remind us
5:28
to be to be watchful now no one's
5:31
reverent fear now Noah he obeyed God and
5:34
took God's warning seriously and he did
5:37
he did it by faith
5:39
now scripture say that without faith it
5:41
is impossible to please God
5:43
scriptures also say that faith comes by
5:45
hearing and hearing by the Word of God
5:47
in other words nobody heeded the warning
5:51
of the Lord because the Lord Himself had
5:53
enabled know what to do so that's good
5:56
to say we love him because he first
5:58
loved us so we responded our love God is
6:02
the one that is doing the drawing we
6:03
don't go to God because God draws us
6:05
scripture says no one can come to him
6:08
unless enabled by the Holy Spirit now
6:10
the only thing that set apart Noah from
6:13
his contemporary is the grace of God God
6:16
chose Noah because of God's own purpose
6:18
Noah wasn't any special or chosen
6:21
because he was his own doing it's not
6:23
because of his now because of Noah's
6:25
doing but the Spirit of God on him
6:27
working Noah to will and act according
6:30
to the purposes of God
6:32
so Noah's reverent fear was a result of
6:34
the Spirit of God in aiming interfere in
6:38
the same way you and I obey God because
6:40
she commanded us to obey Him and God
6:43
creates what he commands and that's why
6:46
I David said create in me a pure heart
6:49
every new a right spirit within me has
6:51
me not away from your presence and do
6:53
not take your Holy Spirit away from me
6:55
and I want you out actually I want to
6:58
read Psalm 51 this is after David had
7:02
been he sinned against the Lord by
7:06
taking another man's wife and Nathan the
7:09
Prophet confronts David and he doesn't
7:12
say well ugly because I was under
7:15
pressure he admits that he was wrong and
7:17
this is what he says I'm gonna pick it
7:18
up from verse 10 create in me a clean
7:21
heart O God and renew a right spirit
7:24
within me cast me not away from your
7:27
presence and take not your Holy Spirit
7:29
away from me restore to me the joy of
7:32
your salvation and uphold me with a
7:34
willing spirit then I will teach
7:36
transgressors your way and sin as we
7:39
turn to you to return to you now G David
7:41
understand something he knows that
7:43
without God I can't do it I can't do it
7:47
in my own strength this is what he's
7:48
saying create in me Lord you do the
7:52
creating you do the sustenance you
7:54
sustain me
7:55
the sanctification process is a work of
7:57
the Spirit so we will bring nothing to
7:59
the table for ourselves we empty ourself
8:02
of ourselves and say lord please fill us
8:03
create in us those desires that we
8:06
should create in our state desire to
8:07
obey you create in us the desire to fill
8:10
you and then sustain us and when you do
8:12
so lord please teach us to also hard to
8:15
transgress us so that they can know what
8:17
you have done in our life so everything
8:19
that we do is by faith the fear of the
8:23
Lord is by faith we fear because he put
8:25
a fear in us so we have nothing to do
8:28
with it is all God's doing this is what
8:31
this is so important to understand why
8:34
no I was able to obey God in reverent
8:37
fear because if you obey God's Word is
8:39
because his spirit is working in erst to
8:42
respond that way and that pleases God so
8:45
no one can boast in their own strength
8:46
see God is pleased with his Spirit
8:49
working in us he is pleased with himself
8:51
so
8:52
when he is working in us that pleases
8:54
God because God is the one that is doing
8:56
the work so he works in us to will and
8:59
act according to his good purpose and
9:01
God's purpose will always please God but
9:04
we get to enjoy that partner should we
9:07
get to be in there and he gets to put
9:09
his spirit in us and we feel an
9:11
experience and see the joy and we
9:13
rejoice and we thank him in return so
9:15
everything begins with God and ends
9:18
we've got and we get to be part of it
9:20
that's the thing it's not like we have
9:22
to do this for ganas in luck God look
9:25
what I'm doing for you now is thank you
9:28
for what you're doing in me and through
9:30
me to please yourself because God is
9:33
pleased with himself but we are the
9:35
recipient of his love and we we get to
9:37
enjoy her and this is great guys because
9:39
that takes away the pressure of trying
9:41
to please God in our own strength we
9:43
please him by faith next which I'm gonna
9:48
show here now the dog and the freshly
9:50
cracked olive leaf now that was the one
9:54
thing that also caught my attention why
9:56
did God want the author to write this
9:58
particular phrase now olive oil olive
10:02
trees and dogs are usually
10:03
representative of the Holy Spirit and I
10:05
think this is the case here as well out
10:08
of all the living things and trees that
10:10
were flooded the only tree that survived
10:12
the flood and actually produced a fresh
10:14
leaf was the olive tree in other words
10:18
the Holy Spirit withstood the flood
10:20
because he was God and God is righteous
10:22
by Nature
10:23
the righteous will not be judged on
10:26
Judgment Day but only the unrighteous
10:28
and who are the unrighteous is what we
10:31
need to know those that are not in
10:32
dwelled with the Holy Spirit so when
10:35
Jesus comes back he will take his bride
10:37
and what will characterize his bride
10:40
then folks on whom his spirit rest so if
10:43
you're a child of God then you don't
10:45
fear the judgment because you are
10:48
waiting the your your Lord and Savior
10:50
you say I came with the same again I
10:52
came with the same because I want to
10:53
know my bridegroom and this is what we
10:57
are what the church is waiting for the
10:58
Lord to come back and take us back to
11:00
himself you see like we don't fear the
11:03
judgment but we just looking forward to
11:05
being with him
11:06
- being in his presence - being intimate
11:08
with it you see what I'm saying it's so
11:10
close because you wanna know the person
11:13
who died for you and I'd want to know
11:15
the person who put his spirit in you to
11:17
sustain you so the leaf is a sign of
11:22
just joy saying hey I'm waiting I'm
11:25
looking forward to seeing the Lord again
11:28
and we are righteous not because of our
11:30
supper because when God sees us he sees
11:32
Christ in us the hope of glory he's
11:35
pleased with his sunlight in us that's
11:38
what pleases God he is pleased to see
11:41
his son in us through us working in us
11:43
to accomplish his purpose and that
11:45
pleases God you see see what my son has
11:47
done see I see my son in you I see my
11:50
son in this guy I see my son in this
11:52
woman I see my son in this little child
11:54
because this is the righteousness that
11:56
we have received by faith now I also
12:01
check to see if olive trees could
12:03
withstand floods and came up with some
12:04
very amazing discoveries like you know
12:07
when I read stuff like this in Scripture
12:08
you always make me think wow this is
12:11
incredible because God is also making it
12:14
a case here and and I went in line I
12:16
looked on Google you know I didn't do
12:18
any deep investigation and I saw some
12:20
olive trees floated by heavy rains and
12:24
look at this green leaf still there
12:26
still standing you see this they're
12:27
still standing this is an oil olive tree
12:30
they are really deeply rooted they're
12:31
still standing the leaves are still
12:33
there and this is incredible because God
12:36
uses nature to convey his messages now
12:38
if this doesn't like blow your mind now
12:41
I don't know what else could blow your
12:43
mind because the book of Genesis it was
12:46
written thousands of years ago and God
12:48
knew something about nature and biology
12:50
and science that we did not know about
12:52
you see this like and to me this is
12:55
amazing how you can corroborate the
12:56
Bible and science and mathematics and
12:59
whatever think field of study you're
13:01
studying it's always like point of
13:02
contact so to me this is just reinforces
13:05
what I believe it makes me really happy
13:07
to know that okay now again I would
13:10
invite you to read on this chapter
13:12
yourself and dig through it because
13:14
there's a lot of truths in it and and
13:16
and no one can claim to know all because
13:18
nobody knows because God is the one that
13:20
Arthur the Bible through people so I
13:22
will invite you to go back and read the
13:24
scriptures again because I would love to
13:26
hear your take on it alright thanks
13:28
again for watching this is time and stay
13:30
tuned for more stuff
