Yo, I got caught up in no bars. Nothing like clear, crisp bars. There's
0:08
nothing in the world like this. Nothing. It's like a fresh cup of water. That part. Spring water. The good stuff
0:16
that come in the green bottle. That mountain valley glass. The good water. The glass bottle. That
0:21
one. Mic check. There we go. Yes. Hold up, man. Let's Let's You know what I like about
0:27
this man right here? But we could just sit and have regular conversation. Okay. Yeah. That's we talk about culture and hip hop
0:35
throughout our lives. Yes. Right. And it's interesting when you get in a position of power, so to speak, or
0:41
leverage, and you get on these microphones, people tend to shy away from the
0:46
fundamentals, the the core of what got us into this culture. And we come up with these arguments and these excuses
0:53
to why the things that mattered most to us in the beginning matter least to us
0:59
now. Like creativity. Okay. Like being innovative, like lyricism,
1:07
like individualism. Yes. Like praise for those who raise the bar.
1:12
We start praising metrics. We start praising uh viral moments and
1:18
headlines, right? we start praising trends and so I dare say with this young
1:23
man uh when he first started coming up to this show is as out of I don't know what year it might have been 2011 11
1:30
12 somewhere around that time he was one of the first MC's to come here and set the tone we were on a mission to elevate
1:37
the conversation and elevate the output that comes out of our culture and not being influenced or corrupted
1:43
or uh infiltrated um by the powers that be that now we all are starting starting to recognize what
1:50
was behind the curtain of the music business, right? When we see the collapse of these record labels, when we see when we learning
1:57
that some of these things that we believed about artists and their success in terms of analytics and metrics
2:03
weren't true, right? Um, but those who sustain, yes,
2:09
those who have longevity, yes, are those who have innovation, they have
2:15
individualism. And there's another word I'm looking for. Intellect. Talent.
2:21
Okay. Intellect. Thank you. Talent and skill. Jeff, you
2:26
mind closing that door for me? Talent and skill. I'm setting this up because
2:32
I'm super proud of this guest. I really Yeah. He's somebody I feel like that was
2:37
born and raised at the same time we were. Even though he's younger than us, we share the same values. I believe in
2:43
the same morals. as I watch him as I watch him go on platforms like a Curtis King or or Ray Daniels and
2:51
I watch him talk about the science of this art form that we call rap and I
2:57
want to thank him you could find him whether he's with um Clive Davis over there at NYU whether you see him doing
3:05
speaking gigs on his own whether he's on different platforms or whether he's with his own organization Pendulum I want to
3:12
say thank you to your contrib contributions to our community, to our culture, and to our intellect.
3:18
Thank you. Because people are shying away from that. That's true. Curiosity is dead, right? And we tend to
3:25
focus on the hate. Yes. And not pay attention to the praise. Yes. Right. As you said in your lyrics,
3:32
welcome him back to the show, man. Give it up for the one and only the legendary
3:37
Mickey Fax is here, man. Big facts. Big facts. Mickey Fax. Nikki,
3:44
[Applause] who you got with you, man? I got my guy Chiller Jones in the building. Chill Jones.
3:50
You got Show Rocker in the building. Chilla Jones. Show Rocker
3:55
Ramology. And we got uh uh my man Rap Seminar. We all in the building. Y all in the building. And this is a
4:02
organ. This is your team. Yes. This at Pendulum, right? Co-owners and and a former student who
4:07
is now an employee of Okay. That's what's up, man. Yeah. Let's start with this. Mickey Fax
4:13
is here. He got a new album, One Above All, that's coming out November 7th. Yes. Uh we just played the track Bring
4:19
It Back. Pendulum is um
4:25
is one of a kind. Yeah. It's a very unique platform. Can you break down the beginnings and
4:30
what is it purpose? What do you hope to achieve? Well, yeah. I mean, uh for me, it was one of those scenarios where during the
4:37
pandemic, um you know, we saw the tragic loss of uh DMX. So, the tragic loss of
4:42
Shock G and um the the other tragic loss of Black Rob.
4:48
Yeah. And you know, those MC's, you know, they have hit records. They have stature. And
4:55
sadly and uncomfortably, we we saw their affairs weren't in order in the public
5:01
eye. And for me, you know, I I don't have the um
5:06
I don't have the accolades as as they have from a from a hit record perspective. That's one of the things that has always eluded me for whatever
5:13
reason. Um, so I said to myself, well, you know, I don't want this to happen to me. So, I want to try to create
5:19
something for myself and and and try to teach hip-hop. And I was told no
5:24
everywhere because you need a masters to teach at at higher ed. So, everywhere I I went to to to apply
5:32
for a job, they told me no. And um one day I was just like, you know what, man?
5:37
I'm just going to have to do it myself. And you know we started this thing in
5:42
2022. Yeah. And um you know they say you know most businesses fail after two years and we
5:48
are operational as of four years as of February next year. And let's go.
5:55
You know we went against the grain because you know you got to think about you know during the pandemic it was so
6:01
many scams going on and a lot of people just didn't trust you know what was happening. So, we had
6:07
to kind of push through that narrative. We had to state a course and we had to
6:12
get a lot of people that we consider our peers and and legends of the game
6:18
to kind of solidify what it is that we do. And and that kind of helped us, you know, march along into this space um of
6:26
of teaching not only lyricism uh not only uh uh rhythm and style, but also,
6:32
you know, hip-hop mental health. uh our students are required to go to our uh
6:38
rhymecology classes uh because you know we want to make sure that the emotion is in their music. We
6:43
don't want to create robotic MC's, you know. We teach the business of hip-hop, you know, we teach how to create
6:50
content. We have poetry classes. Um, and then, you know, we also get
6:55
together in person, you know. So, we're it's not just us that's here. You know, our whole, you know, some of our students are here. They flew in from all
7:01
over the world. Yeah. To come here this weekend because we have our retreat this weekend. So, yeah. Y did something with RAS, right?
7:06
Yeah. We did something with Rascast last night. Shout out to RAS at Five Mics. Yeah. You know, so our students
7:12
performed last night. My man Basics, he performed. He flew in from Canada, Montreal, you know, and uh it was it was a good it
7:19
was a good situation. Shout out to Mellow Man Ace andqame and everybody that was there last night. Meow Man Ace came out.
7:25
Yeah, Melan was our master. Oh [Â __Â ] Okay. Mellow Man Ace um legend
7:31
out here on on the West Coast of course. We had him on the show recently. Another
7:36
legend. Uh Bumb was the first keynote speaker right at the right at the
7:43
graduation. Right. Yes. Yes. Shout out to to big bro Bum B. You know he uh he didn't know what he
7:50
was walking into when he came and and did it that first time and he walked out saying that Pendulum
7:56
Inc. is a wellness center, you know, after he saw everybody's
8:01
reaction to to being at the school. And you know, I just told him, I need you to, you know, be a commencement speaker
8:06
for 15 minutes. I said, just I'll take care of your flight. If you need a room, I got you. I'll get you car service,
8:12
whatever it takes. Just I just need you here, you know, for that inaugurational, you know, commencement speaker. And he
8:18
said, Mickey, I got you, brother. And he and he he was phenomenal. Of course, that's Bun B. Give it up for
8:24
Bun B, man. Shout out to Bun. Um people, this is something you want to
8:29
We got a lot of um kids that tune in to this show. A lot of youth. uh parents who grew up in hip hop if they want to
8:36
get their children involved with Pendulum, how can they do it? Um they could just uh DM us at uh
8:42
Pendulum Mink on Instagram or uh DM me on any of the social media platforms. I
8:49
have OCD, so I answer every DM. Mickey.fax. Yeah, Mickey.fax ckey. Facz on
8:56
Instagram. Um twitter.com if you still on there. Ask uh Mickeyfax. Facebook, most people
9:04
probably on Tik Tok now. So, real Mickey Facts on Tik Tok and just just DM me, send me a message,
9:09
you know, and we respond back to everybody because you just never know who you're talking to, you know, and you want to make sure that everybody gets
9:15
that same response and love uh because we're all human and we all we all have
9:20
the same goals in this space. So, if you have ever sent me a DM, as long as you're not soliciting, you just jumping
9:26
in my inbox, then yeah, we can have a conversation. Hey, man. Um there's a you you respond
9:32
to any and everybody, right? Including your haters, right? Cuz I'm thinking about the song Money Dance, right? And
9:38
then Well, you say this is a tribute to my haters. You say we don't block our haters,
9:45
right? What you press mute or something on them. But but so when you talk about wellness,
9:51
health and wellness, one of the things I did was kind of cut back on reading people
9:58
comments and critique. I don't need to hear this [Â __Â ] right? You know, you don't do that. What's the theory?
10:03
So on Twitter, I don't I don't block anybody. Okay.
10:09
I mute them. Okay. So they can they'll be talking to a wall.
10:14
They not talking to me. Uhhuh. They not talking to me. I'd never see it. But they have to see me.
10:21
So I don't want to block you so you can't see my success. I want you to continue to see my success
10:28
and talk to me as if I'm going to actually see it. I never see hate on my Twitter wall. And
10:36
if you come on my post on Instagram, I'm deleting your comment. I don't have to I
10:43
don't have to deal with that. I'm deleting it before you even can finish typing it. It's gone. It never It
10:51
never was here. Same thing on Facebook. I'm deleting it. I'm delete. I'm not doing I'm not dealing with any of that
10:58
because for me it's And you know my guy um my guy DJ uh he he he was telling me he was
11:05
like, "Yeah, but it you know, leaving the comments up, it adds to the algorithm, but what about my mental health, brother?"
11:11
You know what I'm saying? And so like I it's not it's not I'm not here for none of that, man. You got to go.
11:17
You got to go. And then I'm also I'm Listen, I'm not responding. I'm not responding to you if you ain't
11:23
got a profile pick. Hello. We're not doing this no more, man. Okay. I need to see your face. If it if if Why
11:30
am I arguing with somebody? Why am I going to argue with somebody with a picture of somebody that I actually know
11:36
and it's not you? Feel stupid, huh? Yo, this yo
11:41
yo there was this guy yo this there was this guy with Jada Kiss face on talking crazy Jaden kiss I know Jaden kiss n I'm
11:50
not responding to you man that almost happened this morning I saw somebody he cuz you I did a breakdown on
11:56
Cam. Shout out to Cam on his lyrics. Yeah. Yeah. On his lyrics style. And then this guy was like this guy is
12:02
trash. Why would you do that? He has six followers. I I typed this whole thing out. I looked at his page. He ain't got
12:08
no profile pick. I deleted it. I said, "Man, I'm out of here and I'm not dealing with you, man. Get out of here. If you don't got no profile pick, I'm
12:14
not talking to you." There it is. Mickey Facts, man. You You stand on yours. That's how That's why I'm bringing it up. Yes.
12:20
And I like what you did with Cam. Um I like what you did with Ray Daniels,
12:25
right? Yes. Shout out to Ray Daniels. That's my brother, man. Yo, Ray is a pillar in this thing, man.
12:31
He done been behind a lot of successful careers. Yes. from produ from ANR to
12:36
management, you know, big names, super big names. And so I thought it was great um to
12:42
watch you guys interact. One of the things I like about you is your subject matter, your content. You made a
12:47
conscious decision to to kind of veer away from violence. Yeah. Right. Um a while back.
12:54
Yeah. But it didn't seem like probably initially it would work, you know, because right now a lot of the What do I
13:01
want to find what are your thoughts on the conversation that we're having in hip-hop right now? Not just on speaking
13:09
platforms, but also in songs. So, I think that hip-hop has always,
13:16
somebody said this to me the other day. They was like, where who is this era's public enemy?
13:22
Mhm. And you know, and I was like, "Wow, that's a great question." Um, and I
13:30
didn't have an answer for them. And late last night, I saw this guy, uh, Cure Paranoia. Have you guys heard of that
13:37
guy? Paranoia. Let's look him up. I I think that's what his name is. I saw
13:42
that thing. And I this guy was he's just giving so much information
13:47
and he's doing it with so much uh so much style, so much technique. It's
13:53
really really good and and that was I saw that on my flight to uh LA yesterday. Um I thought that was pretty
14:00
good. But in terms of just the conversation, I just feel like there needs to be more conversation about
14:06
life. Like I feel like life has just kind of it feels like hip-hop has been more escapism than
14:12
anything, right? Like everybody just is kind of avoiding the realities of
14:18
what we are experiencing in the nation right now. It's it's it's almost kind of like we're in the matrix.
14:26
You know, people are still rapping about spending a lot of money, you know, when you know, EBT is cut off.
14:33
I think as of what, like two days ago or something like that. I don't Heather [Â __Â ] I don't know.
14:40
I don't [Â __Â ] want to know either. I don't I ain't even part of my [Â __Â ] Some states will be coming.
14:46
I thought it was the first of the month. Um some SNAP benefits is scheduled to come to an end in most states by
14:53
November the 1st. Uh some states are already cutting back saying they won't be funded by October 28th and October
14:59
29th and October 30th. So different states have different timelines and they'll be cutting back and run out of benefits. Um there might be an emergency
15:05
contingency plan that could last a couple more weeks past November the 1st, but after those two weeks, um the extension and the remaining
15:11
discretionary budget will run out. Damn, that's that's scary. So we do, you know,
15:16
shout out Chiller Jones. You heard my man Mike Muse over there. That's what we do. He just pulled up out of nowhere.
15:23
That's what we do. You know where y'all at. Shout out to Mike Muse. Look at him.
15:28
Um but yeah, I wanted to ask you there's so many things I I'd like to ask you. Um
15:34
uh because I love your how how your um curriculum. Yeah.
15:39
Um I love how you teach and I think these are very necessary conversations to have. I want to ask you about AI.
15:46
Okay. Um because you were very vocal with AI, especially about Timberland that time Timberland
15:52
got caught up in the fiat the the fiasco of using someone else's beats, right? Uh but AI is something that's
15:58
inevitable. On the flip side, you got our counterpart, Lupe Fiasco, who's also a teacher. Give it up for Lupe Fiasco,
16:05
who's a professor at John Hopkins. Lupe. Yes, sir. Right. Uh um and he's using AI to teach
16:12
rhymes. Yeah. And And so what are your thoughts on AI and how we could best utilize it in rap?
16:19
Is there a place for AI to write rhymes? I don't I don't subscribe to it being a
16:26
place to write rhymes. I think that the creativity should still come from
16:33
the soul of the artist in my opinion, right? Uh and that's, you know, obviously I know my bro Lou has his own,
16:41
you know, vision for it. Um but, you know, I I I I personally
16:46
just don't I I I don't want to feed AI the knowledge that we have at Pendulum,
16:53
Inc., right? There's just things that AI can't do with what we have because we
16:58
have the actual science behind some of the techni some of the techniques that we have. So, we won't be feeding AI that
17:05
stuff. So, there's things that it just won't be able to do. Now, yes, can it rhyme? Sure, it can rhyme. Can it multi?
17:11
Sure, because it's because people are feeding that. But then there's like some intricacies
17:16
to lyricism that we have specifically that we will not be feeding into. You
17:22
know what I mean? Okay. Okay. So, do I think AI serves a space in the music industry? Yes, but
17:27
not in writing rhymes, per se. Mickey Fax is here. Uh, give a round of
17:33
applause. Show Rocka is here. Uh, Chiller Jones is here. These boys got bars. They got bars. Heather B.
17:40
Um, from your if when I'm talking to Professor Mickey. Yeah. And I asked Professor Mickey, from
17:48
your point of view, which MC in the battle,
17:54
not not in the career, right? Um, executed the best and what would be
18:00
your reason for that MC getting the edge in the battle with Kendrick and Drake?
18:07
Okay. So, I think that, Professor Fax. Oh, yeah. I mean, I I've shared my I've
18:13
shared my opinion on this. You know, again, I had to mute both of their names because it was just too much to see on
18:19
Twitter. Okay. Um but uh uh for me, you know, I I felt like Kendrick
18:25
showcased what needed to happen to to kind of take that W. Um it was a lot of
18:30
character assassination. Um you know, technically and lyrically, he he just did a little bit more. I do
18:37
feel like that Drake went into it trying to, you know, he was antagonizing
18:44
antagonizing him, but he also wanted to kind of attempt to outwrap him. Uh, and
18:50
I think that it just didn't work out that way. Uh, in ter I when I went on Curtis King, I did say that Drake had he
18:57
he was he had a he had more multis than him. Like if we were to count him out, that was there. But from a win
19:03
standpoint, I had Kendrick win the battle. Motes. You gotta break that down for I know what a mot
19:10
yeah you know my freestyle. We know what you do. We know what you do.
19:15
Shout out to Mcoo. Tuttaloo is crazy. Uh so you know any
19:21
you know any anything with a a word that has more than one syllable is considered
19:26
a multi-elabic word. So if you match the vowels and the syllables with that then you get that as a rhyming word. So, you
19:34
know, Drake was doing that a lot and I I feel like he felt like that was going to be enough to win when, you know,
19:39
Kendrick was attacking him, you know, ferociously a little bit too much. Okay. Now, there's also a sentiment
19:45
because that battle got to be so damn dark. Yeah. Right. Like we just I tuned out after
19:52
[Â __Â ] man. It's start stressing me out. Uh, no, I didn't. I listen to
19:58
everything. Who am I fooling? I'm like, don't be doing that in front of me. I am hip-hop. Of course, I listen
20:04
to the battle. I just don't always interject because I'm at a different place in my career, right? And I know
20:10
what people do with your words, right? I mean, but you know, I think for for someone such as yourself, I mean,
20:15
you gave Jay and Nas their first interview together. Yes. Right. So, so you was you was there, you
20:21
know, for that when that was the biggest battle in hip-hop and then you brought them together.
20:27
These two guys will not be together. They won't be together. No, I don't think that's ever going to happen. Nah, it's what do you think
20:33
there's been a sentiment, you know, in from a lot of people in the culture, but mostly from people out of the culture
20:39
that says this is stupid. This battling thing, let's just get rid of it. Let's eradicate it. It's not good for
20:46
the community is not good for the culture. What are your thoughts on that? Nah, I mean, sometimes you got to you got to
20:53
you got to you got to spank somebody sometimes. Sometimes you got to you got to remind somebody sometimes that this
20:59
is what this is this is what happens when you cross that line and and you know I think it's as long as it doesn't
21:05
you know go into you know the streets or anything like that it's all fair you know what I mean just keep it respectful
21:12
and you know you sometimes you got to sometimes you got to remind people I mean that that's that's just the reality
21:18
of the scenario in the situation and especially just even from the space of battle rap like they they get in each
21:24
other's faces they go back back and forth. They shake it out and then they they go in their separate ways. It's hip-hop was built on that competition
21:31
aspect. And if we remove that, then it's like we are bending to the the the realm
21:36
of society in this particular era where it's like you can't say anything. And hip-hop has always been the voice of the
21:43
people in the streets. So, and this is for all of y'all, but let's start with Mickey. Yeah. So, is this era of hip-hop battling
21:50
different? Because Sway and I can attest to, I thought I'd never see KRS1 and
21:55
Shan together. I thought I'd never see Ice Cube in common together. I thought I'd never see Nas and Jay-Z together.
22:02
Like you you say we say these nevers, but then eventually five years pass, 10
22:08
years, 50 Fat Joe. All of the all of the things that we saw and then somehow someway they come together. Five years,
22:15
10 years, Farah Khan gets involved. I don't know. I'm just kind of telling you what we saw. So, do you think this era
22:21
takes it so personable that they can never get together again? I think that this specific battle is
22:29
that I think that Drake and Kendrick, they don't like each other for real. For
22:35
real. And I think that there was just lines crossed on both sides. I think
22:40
that, you know, bringing up someone's, you know, partner and then calling
22:46
someone a a pile and then doing that at the Super Bowl. I mean, I I I can't I
22:52
Okay, let's All right. All right. That's all I'll take all of that. Jay said, "I skated in your baby seat." Like, it
22:57
that's up there with one of those things though, facts. Like, we're heads. Like, we're hip-hop heads in here. Like, lyric
23:04
for lyric, bar for bar, I relish. Like I'm like, damn, there's no way I could be his friend. Like, I got to punch you
23:11
in the face when I see you. You know what I'm saying? But we watched them somehow come together. Nas
23:16
Nas did the rock salute. Like, what are we saying? Nas
23:22
is is a better man than Kendrick.
23:27
That's just Kendrick, right? Kendrick down the block. Kendrick
23:32
came up in the Compton era. You know what I'm saying? Like that's that's what I'm saying. Is this era just different?
23:37
I just think I just think with these two MC's I I just can't I can't see it. Like
23:42
he he he he did it at the Super Bowl. Like Nas did it Jay and Nas they was at Summer Jam. That was a contained space
23:50
in New York and we heard we heard rumblings of it. Right. But that but at that time the
23:57
Super Bowl wasn't even an option. You know what I'm saying? So that was the biggest thing. Yeah.
24:02
Yes. But th but this is a global stage and he's performing he's performing this
24:08
particular record as his headlining song all over the world and then everybody is
24:15
screaming that line everywhere even Drake fans. I think it's just I just think it's just and
24:21
maybe it's too fresh. Maybe it's maybe too fresh because when you look at No
24:27
one ever thought I didn't think that Jeezy and Gucci big would do a versus. I mean, okay.
24:33
Death involved in that, you know. You know, I mean, but Kendrick also did say like, you know, he saw Drake and Kanye get
24:39
together. You a bigger man than me. That That's literally what Kendrick said. He said that on his on his last. They all still very young. And I feel
24:46
like in this era of therapy, who knows what can happen in the future. Reconciliation could be on the menu.
24:53
And see, for us, I didn't I never saw Jay and Nas except check. But a check.
24:59
A check brought them together. I don't know if a business deal brought them together and
25:04
you but then Okay. Okay. And but then and I know these guys I know they want to answer but I would love to hear too.
25:09
Yeah. But then you you got to think about Kendrick's opponent. You got to look at the art the person
25:16
on the other side. Okay. And and and the type of person that guy is.
25:21
You know what I'm saying? And that's Drake, right? He's very he's just he's an emotional guy and he's he takes
25:27
things to heart. like he he had a he he had a great freestyle fighting Irish
25:33
but he was going at LeBron because LeBron was at right was at the was at the show. So
25:39
I don't know this is not this is not like Nas and Jay. Okay, Chilla Jones is here. Give him a big round of applause.
25:46
What up Chiller? I love this conversation. I love hip-hop.
25:52
How many battle belts you own? Belts. I own I own a few different
25:57
championships. You own a few different championship. Champion of the year. King of the dodge champion. You better talk your [Â __Â ] Different
26:02
things. You standing up for getting riled up. You want to battle
26:08
few different things. I felt like I got the the title or something, right? Few different things. Few different things.
26:14
You battled Charlie Cliff before, right? Twice. Twice. Right. What was the What was the outcome of
26:19
that? Unless you got Charlotte. Oh, wow. Charlotte. The point I'm making though,
26:26
the people that you battled, are you still cool with? 100%. Every single one. Okay. Every single one. I think I think the
26:32
battle rap culture is a little different. You know what I mean? Because
26:38
we we're literally contracted for a job, right? And so the the way we look at it,
26:44
the way we approach it, like if if I get contracted and paid a good
26:50
amount of money, Mhm. listen, I I'll give you a I'll give you a 10-minute window to say whatever you
26:55
got to get off your chest and then go get my money after. You know what I'm saying? Cool.
27:01
Um there there are battlers who may cross the line. There are battlers who may say things that are
27:08
triggering. They may talk about your, you know, loved ones, people who have passed and things like that. And there's
27:17
still real life consequences for that in most cases. But for me and
27:23
what I've gone through and my experience in the past 14 years that I've been, you know, a name in this battle culture,
27:29
um, I don't I don't feel like I have any enemies. I don't I don't have anybody who I've crossed the line and have
27:35
have upset them and and nobody's really gone to that extent with me. I think the
27:40
um I think the difference comparatively with like Kendrick and Drake and Jay and
27:47
Nas for for me it's one thing. It's social media.
27:53
That's it. Right. like you're and instead of with Jay and Nas
27:59
it was like you'll hear it in the barber shop. That's true. You'll hear it, you know, in in in
28:05
certain spaces privately. Right. We'll we'll have this discussion in private
28:10
and Jay or Nas won't be they won't be privy to it. Right
28:16
now we're we're in an age where everything is on Front Street. Everything is publicized. So, not only
28:21
is is is is Drake having to deal with these, you know, certain things and Kendrick as
28:26
well, but now he's getting 15,422
28:32
notifications on every social media platform. Yeah. Right in his face. So, imagine how that
28:38
affects you if you have an ego. Uhhuh. Imagine how that affects you if you're sensitive, right? Um, I I think that
28:46
that just it's just a different ballgame with the way social media is and how that's changed the landscape of hip-hop.
28:51
So, I I think that's the biggest difference between Jay and Oz and Kendrick and Drake. It's just the era that we're in. We're
28:57
in the social we're in the social media era where everything's going to get thrown in your face a million times. You're going to
29:03
have to see it when you pick up your phone, when you log into your socials, when you when you go to the shade room,
29:08
TMC everywhere, you know, little free store. It's it's just a different climate that
29:14
we're in. And I think that makes it so much worse to be able to like forgive somebody or
29:19
find any type of peace or or you know what I'm saying after something like that. It went into the machine. So it's never
29:25
Yeah. It's never going to work. Yeah. It's it's just different. I like this conversation. I love it.
29:30
Where you from? Boston. Yes, sir. Boston. Yes, sir. Boston M going to race. Mr. Boss. Who's the illst MC to ever
29:36
come out of Boston prior to you? I'm glad you said priority. Um, n shout out shout out to, you know,
29:42
Eto G obviously, you know, Edg, you know, one of the forefathers. Shout
29:47
out to Mantra, Champagne Gang. Um, Guru, I believe from Guru. Yep. Shout
29:53
out to Guru. Rest in peace. What terminology from? He's from Lawrence, just outside of Boston. Definitely one of the most
29:58
prolific from Mass for sure. Shout out Static Select as well. Okay, put on um current day. Shout out
30:05
Millies. Shout out Beia, Joiner, Lucas, Cousin Sts, Token.
30:11
Um, you know, the the Massachusetts scene right now is is is definitely on
30:16
the way up. Um, everybody's been cooking and putting in work, man. So, I'm I'm proud of all my my peers.
30:21
Joiner Lucas. Salute to that kid, man. Yeah, you're right. You name it. So, I'm I'm glad you counting that out. Shaka,
30:28
what's going on? What up, man? Pay the rappers, man. Pay the [Â __Â ] rappers, bro.
30:33
I like that. You like that? Thank you. No, no problem, man. Now, where are you from? I'm from New Haven, Connecticut.
30:39
New Haven. Wow. Money craving New Haven. Money craving New Haven. What was your entry to the game?
30:45
Um, I've been rapping since I was a little kid, man. Since Salt and Peppers Push It, my mama gave me a tape and ever
30:52
since then, like I knew I just wanted to rap. Okay. And um and did you um anticipate
30:58
ever becoming What is your title with Pendulum? You you're the the I'm a professor professor of rap tech
31:04
advanced rap techniques. I teach the you know the big dogs. The hell me and chill coach
31:10
gave you the right Chill did. Chill and Mick.
31:16
Yeah. Chill. Okay, cool. What's the difference between teaching technique and advanced techniques?
31:23
Well, when you teach advanced techniques, you do the stuff that you see people doing on your freestyles on
31:28
your radio show. um not just okay you can do a multi-elabic rhyme you can
31:33
rhyme you know this word with that word no this is different this is where you start to mix your complex flow patterns
31:40
where you do things like a reverse punchline you rhyme backwards and all the things that kind of give you that
31:46
wow factor that when you see somebody on on a freestyle platform you say yo son is nice
31:52
that and and you teach that we teach him how to do it [Â __Â ] you teach that like I'm like you
31:58
you can't teach them what to say. We can't teach them what to say. We can't give them the lived experience,
32:04
but we could give them the textbook. And once you have the fundamental skills,
32:10
then you know, you got to add the sauce on it yourself. This I love this, man. [Â __Â ] I wish we had more time, too. I I want to sit and
32:16
talk with y'all. This is great. Great. Tracy, jump in. I know you got a question. Yeah. No, absolutely. What I appreciate
32:22
about all three three of you, um, you're all preserving depth in a very surface
32:28
level era that we're in, you know, and especially since you guys are all teaching. I'm just wondering, you know,
32:36
short form content dominates our attention spans, right? And cuts our
32:41
attention spans in the classroom. Like, how are you unlearning that with the
32:47
students? I'm sure you're seeing how it impacts their capacity to just sit still
32:53
and pay attention. I would love to know it from inside the classroom. And also, super super extra shout out to you,
32:59
Mickey, because the fact that you were once enrolled as a student at NYU and now you are hired as faculty is just the
33:07
craziest full circle Mickey moment that she just got a highlight.
33:13
And plus, we got a great we got a great friend in common, too. our girl Alex Wolf, tech philosopher. So, I have to
33:19
shout her out, too. But, but yeah, talk about the un the unlearning.
33:25
All right, let me just pull my chain out. Hold on. Let's go. That's your purple diamonds. That's my chain. That's
33:32
not my It's my chain. That's my piece. You see my piece? Oh, look. Nikki faculty. That chain fac.
33:43
Oh, wow. Um, and it was a three-hour class and they loved every single minute. And
33:50
then after class, they was like, "Okay, let's talk about office hours. We want to continue this conversation." And I
33:55
think a lot of it is hip-hop is not as mundane
34:01
as the academic space can be. you know, when it's being taught by, you know,
34:06
older people that do not have their pulse on what the younger people and generation want, it could kind of come
34:13
across as, okay, enough is enough. You know, what we try to do is we try to
34:20
meet our students where they are and and and let them know that they're not alone in this space, right? They might feel
34:26
scared. They might feel like there's a language barrier, but we do our best to connect with everybody in that space.
34:32
And it's a safe space for us, right? And I I do my I do my due diligence to let
34:38
them know that, hey, yeah, even though I do this and I do this and I know that person and I know that person, I know
34:43
you and you matter in this moment right now. And let's utilize this time to show that
34:51
you matter. And once they see that, it's the floodgates is open and they can stay there for eight hours if I ask them to.
34:58
You know what I mean? Locked in. This is what I want to do, man. We've been talking a lot. First of all, congratulations to Mickey Fact. You got
35:04
the new album, One Above All, right? That's dropping November 7th. November the 7th.
35:10
Pre-order that. Do you feel pressure? You guys are like teaching people how to be extraordinary
35:16
artists and now you put out your art and everybody going to be critiquing it, right? You know, I mean, that's that's what
35:21
it's that's what it's meant to to be. It's meant to be critiqued. Art is meant to be critiqued. So, you know, somebody
35:27
doesn't like something that I'm doing, I mean, that's their opinion. You can't please everybody. Even Jesus had haters.
35:35
[Laughter] I was going to throw the song. I'm a He had a hater at the table with him.
35:40
He had a hater at the table with him. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? You can't duck a hater.
35:46
Do we overuck the word genius? I feel like in recent years, I've just seen genius thrown out in so many different
35:53
ways. And for folks that I wouldn't personally, you know, give that title
35:58
to. But I also understand that the term genius, the compliment genius, can be subjective. But I wonder if you see it
36:05
as that or is there a standard that we should all collectively uphold before we
36:11
call someone a genius? I mean, I think that um you know, in this particular era that
36:18
we're in, words are diluted a lot. You know, people get called geniuses, people
36:24
get called legends, MC's. Oh. Woo. Talk to him.
36:30
Well, y'all adding on the list. I'm at the grocery store, too. People get called people get called
36:36
goats, you know, like legend, you know. So, like, you know, I just think I just think
36:41
DJs Oh, she's cooking tonight. All right. I love I love so much, man.
36:50
She need to be a keynote speaker. I'm here. I'm here. Oh my goodness. Whenever you're ready.
36:55
Whenever you're ready. Whenever you're ready, he look up on us. But so you agree with Trey? You think
37:01
Yeah, I I I agree. I agree. I mean, genius to me, genius is Steve Jobs.
37:06
Okay. That's genius, right? He changed an entire culture. He changed an entire generation. That's
37:12
genius. Michael Jackson, that's genius. You know, Kanye, even as wild as he may be, that's genius to me. You know what
37:19
I'm saying? Um Einstein, like that's genius to me. When somebody, you know,
37:24
does something that is cool and it looks great and he is done one time and then
37:30
calling him a genius. No, that's luck or that's just a hit record, right? That's just Mike Mu, you want to
37:36
jump in? Yeah, I do. Actually, I just have a question about the teaching and the structures in particular and your
37:42
students are going to be like future MC's. How do you guys think how do you guys instruct them about song structure
37:48
and what to draw upon? Um, and the reason why I say that we have a lot of freestyles come up here and and you can tell the difference from those who are
37:54
very well-versed, well read, have seen some things, um, versus those that has
37:59
maybe a limited POV if you guys talk about that at all.
38:04
So, that's the class that I teach, right? What's it called? It's a it's called advanced rhythm and
38:10
style and that is the senior class, right? So
38:15
after they done with Chiller Jones and Show Rocker, right, and in that class,
38:22
they prepare you for this arena. Okay? When they come to my class, I tell them
38:27
specifically, everything you learn there, throw that [Â __Â ] out the window. You come in here to create a vibe.
38:34
You're coming here to create an aura. You're coming here to unlearn what you
38:41
learned for song structure. It's about the content. It's about the feeling of what you are putting together, right?
38:48
And then on top of that, they've already been at the school for two years, our school, Pendulum Inc. for two years,
38:54
maybe three. So, they've been in classes with Jeff, right, at Rhymeology. They've been in that group therapy session where
39:00
they're breaking down and talking about different emotions, whether it may be grief or loss or depression or fighting
39:08
suicide or these things. And that's like a a mandatory class for them. So now when they come to me, I tell them,
39:15
listen, we have to now dumb down everything. We have to create hypnosis,
39:22
right? Music is hypnosis. You have to put hooks in your verses. You have to put hooks in your choruses. You have to
39:28
create melody. You have to have chorus crafting. All of these different things to sustain a space. And then when
39:35
they're done with us, we take them to Pendulum Sync with our other other professor, Professor Dean Kano, who
39:41
places 300 songs in the sync licensing space. So now we hire him. So he doesn't have
39:48
to place 300 songs. He'll place 200 and then the other 100 will go to our students because now after coming to me,
39:55
they go to him and he's going to ensure that the songs feel more ready and
40:01
palatable for society. Damn, Professor Fax.
40:08
I like that, man. This is what we're going to do. Uh, we got Chiller Jones in the building. We got Show Rocker in the
40:14
building. We got Mickey Fax in the building. You know what's next. We going to come back and everything
40:21
they just talked to you about, they about to demonstrate it. All right, that's coming up next. Shave four or
40:26
five. I'm I'm just adding to the list, Mike. It's just like a journalist.
40:34
influencer. I don't like that either. Any other ones before we get Well, yeah, we something before they
40:40
start spinning. We'll get to the boss. Hey, horse. Where horse go? Who knows?
40:46
He's right there. I need horse in here. Horse. Horse should be teaching that pendulum. He's written hit records before. He's an for
40:53
projects. He's That's horse. Braveheart horse. Yeah, that's horse. What up, horse? Done. Ye. What's good?
40:59
I'm just saying, man. Mickey wants you to come teach one day. Wow. You just You have Is that That's the horse from
41:05
Uchi Walle. Yeah. Oh, he must be. I heard he husky. Yeah.
41:11
But I want Horse. Whenever we do these, I like Horse to kind of oversee it, you know, to give his feedback and the whole
41:17
nine so you know who you rocking with. And you know, it's good to have everybody here. Jeff is good friend with
41:22
my partner at King Tech. And Jeff post stuff for that on behalf of us. He got a this or that album. That album in gold.
41:29
you know, and uh with me, Keem Tech, and DJ Revolution, the whole concept of this or that was back then 99, we were like,
41:38
you could go with this, you know, which is hip-hop, you know, rooted in hip-hop or you go with that,
41:43
which is rooted in industry, right? You know, and so that's when we were on our, you know, when we was marching back
41:48
then. I don't be marching right now, but uh Have y'all ever been to LA?
41:54
Yeah. Chile been rock. Yeah. Are you familiar with the area? No. You know, you know where you are.
42:01
I know I'm in LA. No, that's not No, that's not where you are. No. Chiller Jones, you know where
42:07
you are. I'm at Sway. That's all that matter right now. Close. You almost there, man. I know where I'm at.
42:13
Where you at, Mickey faction? I'm in the land of the hyena. The Valley of the Hyenas.
42:19
You know exactly where you at. You done explored this valley many of times.
42:24
Yeah, I smelt it. I smelt it as soon as I walked in. I said, "Ah, feels good to be home. It's good to be home.
42:30
We expanded the home now. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. You know, and this is what we going to do. You about to get thoroughly
42:36
entertained. Some of the best freestyles that have ever happened on this show have been pinned by this man. Some of
42:42
the most legendary, we have cult followings because of his verses. I be having kids come up to me. I'm
42:49
like, "What are you talking about?" You know, and then talk about Mickey's verse. And I'm like, "Oh, snap." Yeah. So, let's get thoroughly entertained.
42:55
They ain't These dudes ain't got nothing to prove. They hold belts. They've been in this for a long time. They got experience. This is an ex This is an
43:02
exhibition for your enjoyment. Welcome to the Valley of Hyenas. Turn that beat up, John. Drop that beat on.
43:12
Yeah. Yeah. What's up, y'all? It's Mickey.
43:18
Yeah. It feels good to be back here. Good to have you, Nick. Yeah.
43:23
I'm in the building. Look, look. Rest in peace to a side of Shakur.
43:30
If she told me one thing is that we got to endor. Sway news since 08. When I got in the door, I'm the guy people got to
43:36
endor. Still the best with views. Pendulum school extra cool. I tweet my opinion. [Â __Â ] hit the net is news.
43:42
Haters is mad. I got influential views. Rappers walk me through their bars to get met with views. Top floor Trump
43:48
Tower, presidential views. Watch raw, sundial, presidential hues. I don't make drill music. I just blessed the tune. So
43:55
if I got a drill music through your head, you're screwed. I ain't lax. I'm in LAX. Drew and D used to fly out of
44:01
JFK, but they blew his dreams in Atlanta. My heart's filled with cruel themes. Chiller flying out of Logan so
44:06
much. He's Wolverine. Y lion, sparks flying. Would you believe that I got the mutant gene and you know it supersedes
44:12
you and me. I was talking yesterday through the pendulum. Look what I said to sway. I love Cardi and respect the
44:18
Jay, but you an imaginary player like drop dead Fred. Okay. Rocking newer Marys and scooping fairies. Know what I
44:25
do to bellies. What I do on a daily is super scary. Dropped out of NYU to teach there. I'm pulling strings like
44:31
ukuleles. Prepared for anything. I'm super ready. Chasing with two machetes on Neo in the matrix. Agent shooting
44:38
semis. Patience moving petty. Damn near gay to kill the parade and through confetti. They asked me for a band. Damn
44:44
it. They should have sibling and sexy. Still a symbol for sexy. Push keys competition for Pepsi. Huh? That's Coke.
44:51
Give Mickey and then you feeling me desy while shorty filling my trumpet like Dizzy Gillespie. Look what her cheeks
44:58
do. Child prodigy. Look at my jean pool from my footage in preschool. Bullets in people. Words of weapons. I put bullets
45:05
in people. Stop doing push-ups. I'm not looking as diesel. 225 on the bench. Pull-ups and keeles like I'm putting a
45:11
needle with steroids. Oh yeah boy. Shouldn't be legal. Holy flow. My picture should be putting cathedrals.
45:17
Trying to be Christlike every day with it. The way he died on the cross. I'll get the hang of it. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.
45:23
The favorite. I copy my writing style. So you know they plagiarist. If I rematch somebody dangerous [Â __Â ] Taking
45:30
two wells. Not even with angling. A big fan of big L. He on my greatest list. Big fan of LL. He almost made me quit.
45:37
The last time I was with my dude Sway I was Robert Danny Jr. on the set of Doomsday. Heather V. If I put my Glock
45:43
down on Tuesdays I'mma rob a bank and give Tracy G's. Hooray.
45:51
That's what he faculty faculty.
45:57
I would take that [Â __Â ] Don't be a spirit of Tracy. Don't be a Cody.
46:05
Don't be a Cody. Hip hop is alive. It's alive.
46:10
That was fun. Hip hop is alive. Appreciate that. Hip hop is alive. manifested in the one
46:17
and only Mickey Facts. Hello. Yes. Yes. Yes. Rap game ain't dead, Heather Bean. No, it ain't.
46:22
Bars count. They count. Like Gina Bu say, "Make these [Â __Â ] rap."
46:30
Yeah. Yeah. Yo, I'm happy. [Â __Â ] man.
46:36
Man, I'm happy, man. Thank you, Mickey. That was great. I can't wait to listen to that back. Mickey Facts.
46:41
Yes, sir. Yes, sir. I was Robert Downey Jr. on the set of Dreams Day. They'll get that later. They'll get
46:47
They'll get that later. They'll get that They'll get that later. They'll get that later. Don't worry about it. They'll get it later.
46:53
They going to catch it. Come on. They'll get it later. They'll get it later.
46:59
Max, we got Shrock next. Oh, okay. You said Chiller. So, I'm looking at Oh, yeah. I looked at Chiller. He looked at you
47:05
like, "Why you looking at me?" Yeah. We got Rocka. We going to put you on that same beat.
47:10
Sh rock. New Haven, Connecticut. New Haven, Connecticut. to New Haven, Connecticut. New Haven, Connecticut.
47:16
Okay. All right. New Haven, Connecticut. Y'all still got it. We got it. We got this.
47:21
Why should we pay the rapper John? Drop a beat on him. Levels good for you. Up, brother.
47:28
Levels is good. All right. I said, "Hey yo,
47:35
when it comes to these ciphers, I'm a sant that everybody hate.
47:40
I'm so mature. Patiently watch. I got them on their knees fast. Guess they make us a lot changing the plot like
47:45
grave robbers and same comma say they want the smoke but it's fake and [Â __Â ] I hate drama evade drama with a proper
47:51
team. Y'all just seen the wave I was on. I got sick. That's what the drama mean. My mama dreamed I'd be successful upon
47:56
arrival. Your mama dreamed a baby daddy ain't coming. I got a jazzy little thing. She let me touch a bottom. Fresh
48:02
prints on her butt cheeks. I just summer timed up having way too much fun with it. So come get it. Kang Griffy senior.
48:08
My son hit it. I'm done with it. Ray J Kim K shorty one wishes to make a sex tape. Maybe save a son's Christmas. I
48:14
told her you bug tripping. You better tell that little [Â __Â ] you Jehovah witness and y'all don't indulge gifted.
48:19
[Â __Â ] I'm that cold. I know you love it but it hurts that you can't see me in public. [Â __Â ] ab soul a black hippie. I
48:25
preach peace but my brass tones got these [Â __Â ] thinking I'm an [Â __Â ] Is that so? Brown skin talking loud. Yeah
48:31
that tone hail stone in the glass roof. I crack domes like the Liberty Bell. Don't kiss it and tell. Good lord I
48:37
finesse. Go ahead, sit with this L and see the bigger picture. I'm raising cane. I'm a chicken stripper. Life
48:42
short. Learn that from a [Â __Â ] stripper. Enter the era of short tempers and tall tails. When [Â __Â ] scared to do
48:47
time inside a tall tail say there, but they all sell. Ain't that much that she going to do for love? Bobby Cwell. I'm
48:54
all George Orwell at your doorbell. Animals will pop you for cheap like Corbell. Get you slash like Cordell.
49:00
Steward of the land. I'm the man entertainer while you all fail quite miserably. A tight infantry proving you
49:06
going to get the sweet chin music. I'm in tune with the right symphony. So you going to get your bell rung or kicks
49:11
pushed off the roof like a Jezebel tongue rock. New Haven stand up. New Haven stand up.
49:20
Wow. Wow. We got some hyenas up in here,
49:26
man. Wow. We came to rap. Swe. We came to rap. We got chill. We got chilling next, man.
49:32
You know, we going to close this thing out. Chill. Chiller got a lot to say, man.
49:37
Chilla got a lot to say. We going We going to let Chilla close this up. Rock.
49:43
What the [Â __Â ] Yo, and it's so crazy. Thank you. I will come back.
49:49
Tracy got to acknowledge Haiti. Go ahead, Trace. Thank you, Billy.
49:54
I appreciate you. No, Rocka. It's it's insane the timing of that bar about Tucson because we literally had like a
50:00
spontaneous Haitian appreciation day for like more than half of the show. So,
50:06
it's crazy. And for those who do not know, yes, Billy talk, I got I got to pull in with just a little extra. The
50:12
Tucant that Rockco was referencing as Tusant Lvu, who was the formerly
50:17
enslaved man turned revolutionary who led Haiti to his freedom against France.
50:23
Boom. Talk talk your What year was that, Tracy? I was so worried they wasn't gonna catch
50:29
that bar. There you go. We had a whole celebration of Haiti this morning. We playing Haitian music all crazy.
50:36
We dissected Zo. What is Zo standing? All the whole Z. You Haitian?
50:42
No, I'm not Haitian. And he's still showing love. Still showing love. I thought he look
50:49
tones, boy. That dude ain't said [Â __Â ] since y'all started rapping. He just I just saw I'm just I'm just glad to be here, man.
50:56
Enjoying the, you know, enjoying watching my brother's work, man. I hope y'all enjoying this time. This is what we've been doing for years,
51:03
man. It's like you come up in here, it's different, man. This ain't no radio show, bro. This is different. This is
51:08
something gathering time. And don't think we don't know who we are.
51:13
You know what I mean? This ain't this ain't about that logo, you know? This is about this and who we
51:20
are in the culture and in the community and have been for decades. And we still
51:25
get excited when exceptional artists come up here like Mickey Fax and Show Rocker and do what y'all just did today.
51:32
And after you spit this verse, y'all made me think of something that's been circulating. I'm going to ask a question. But now I'm champion. I'm
51:39
championing this right here. Chiller Jones. I've seen his battles. You about to be entertained. Ladies and gentlemen,
51:45
John, drop that beat on him. Oh, that's Oh, wow.
51:51
Oh, no. All right. All right. Yo. Yo.
51:57
72. TBL. In the morning. 2 in the morning. Let's
52:02
go. And the beat right here. Hey, trying to cipher with me. It's like
52:09
being at the lake with your friends. Hearing the jaw steam music start to play again. Looking at the waves, seeing
52:14
something great that might favor a fin. And then thinking that it's safe for a swim. I'm him. Operation palm tree in a
52:21
calm breeze. In other words, wait for the wind. Huh? I shouldn't have to say it again. I'm the best by a long shot.
52:27
I'm feeling like playing a gym. Man, them writers is in danger. How they cocky with the skill chiller body in it.
52:33
Still was the cryogenic chamber. My mind is getting stranger. I got a brain disorder. Fair warning for everyone
52:39
who's a sway supporter. To the haters, this pain and torture. These rappers ain't coming close like we filed a
52:44
restraining order. I'm sort of mad. Let me explain. This new move producers is doing is just lame. Like how they turn
52:51
the AI out of nowhere. It's feeling like a 2K wreck game. I mean, I respect change, but for me, it's partly a
52:58
detriment. Artificial intelligence going to start to be prevalent. Record labels trying to get cataloged for these
53:03
digital avatars to be relevant. No more artist development. Tibble, I love you, but you part of the president. And I
53:09
know your heart is benevolent, but can you imagine hearing a song thinking soon rob me? Is that a pendulum beat? Nah, I
53:16
sue no problem. Puls no probably. And when that happens, I hope you don't sue nobody. Hey, how we
53:23
go from smack DVD to hyping stars writing bars on chat GPT man. Enough of these fake leaders. No offense, but this
53:30
where we need the gatekeeper. Shout out to St. Peter. The OG's being quiet got my faith weaker cuz I remember when
53:37
pioneers was great speakers. The day I don't say how I feel, you'll hear a new Kendrick single with Drake feature. Then
53:44
I can make a star boat like a bape sneaker. You couldn't get rid of chill with a space heater. I'm representing a
53:50
takeover with straight ether. Yeah. Push my pin to the brink. Go and sign up at Pendulum Inc. Somebody in
53:57
here go send them the link. What the [Â __Â ] just happened like man?
54:05
We got lions up in here. Hey man, they killed Diana.
54:12
Chiller Jones. Chiller Jones. Let's go. I remember when pioneers were great
54:18
speakers. I remember that. Remember that, right? Oh my god. I remember that. So he, you know, he answered he answered question
54:25
everything. That's why he didn't say nothing. That's why you know, we going to Hey yo, stand up, man.
54:32
Write is right. Can y'all give him a stand up right? Come on, man. Pendulum. Say it twice.
54:38
Pendulum. Pendulum. Pendulum. Pendulum. Twice is nice. Give it up for Show Rocking. Give it up for Show Rock.
54:45
Give it up for Chiller Jones. Jones. Give it up for Jeff.
54:51
Give it up for Rob. And give it up for the legendary the
54:56
legendary Mickey Facts. Ladies and gentlemen,
55:01
try you stand up better. Yes. Before we cut out, I just saw
55:07
something really cool. And watching y'all do this, I think I think there's
55:12
something that has to happen. I saw Most Death said he'll go in the middle of a football field with Black Thought. Who
55:18
do you say him? Black Thought. That was that was 10 years ago. That was
55:23
That was 10 That was 10. That was 10 years ago. Oh, I thought that was recent. Yeah, cuz you know cuz King Los King Los
55:29
reposted it. Shout out to King. That was 10 years ago. Okay. So, yeah, that was 10 years ago.
55:35
Your algorithm update your phone, bro. All right. Never mind.
55:42
Don't call yourself a radio host neither. No. No.
55:48
[Music] Add it to the list, [Â __Â ] Oh, I love that.
55:54
I love Can you let the guest talk, Heather? Thank you. Yeah,
56:01
we need you at the school. I was just thinking about that. King Los, he he reposted it. Oh, okay. And uh he, you know, he was reposting it
56:07
cuz cuz uh Most Deaf had mentioned him and Black thought that they would face anybody.
56:13
But, you know, the the very next day, Lupe called me and was like, "What do
56:19
you want to do?" I love And I said, I said, "Listen, I'm with
56:26
it." He was like, "All right, call Daylight and we going to issue." My god. We're going to issue the challenge.
56:31
So So Lupe went out and issued the challenge and then like a week later most deaf
56:37
retracted. What? A week later, most deaf. What do you mean retracted?
56:42
So he retracted because he said that that was a private conversation that he had after a show that one of his friends
56:49
had taped and then he told the person not to put it online, but the person still put it online. Okay. and then it
56:55
gained traction and he was like, "Yo, I don't want to, you know, I don't want to do that." You know what I'm saying? So,
57:01
um, but you know, you know, Lupe, you know, you know, Lupe, one of my favorite people in Lupe,
57:08
y'all know this lately when cuz you know, Lupe been on the weights and stuff, you know, and he shows you his his techniques and his whenever I see
57:15
him, he kind of bullies me a little now. He pulls you. Y'all don't get that. I haven't seen him. I haven't seen him
57:20
in a while. He throw Hey, what up, Sway? He always throws a little punch or something. That's like my little brother. But I
57:25
noticed that. Yeah. I mean, you know. Yeah. But you know, you know, he you know, just that just lets you know that you know.
57:31
Oh, it's love the the it's love. And whenever it's an issue that he he's
57:37
ready and I get the call right after, you know, that's another that's another topic for
57:43
another day. That's another day. But we got to have y'all back. And and I I want to officially say on the air anytime I get
57:50
that next invite um I want to be a part of Pendulum and come up and speak speak to the uh to the students of all
57:57
right and I I think Heather will come with me. Oh yeah, that would be you saw her face.
58:03
We need that. We need that. We need that. We need Heather. You can speak with me directly. Don't call yourself a manager or agent either.
58:12
[Â __Â ] out of here. I ain't paying 10% to everybody. the [Â __Â ] out of here.
58:18
Beat it. All right, man. Let's give it up for the crew right here. Pendulum is in the building, man. Great job, man. Uh
58:23
Mickey, you got your new album coming November 7th. November 7th, man. Uh one above all,
58:28
sign up for Pendulum, Mink. Shout out to my NYU students. I think we're going to have Jada Kiss pull up to the school
58:34
next year. That's amazing. Shout out to Jada, man. So, yeah. I mean, you know, we we we're still trucking. We still keeping it
58:40
going. And uh you know, just sign up, man. Even if you even if you scared or you you feel like you're super nice,
58:46

58:52
nice. You know what I'm saying? So once again, they can sign up where? Pendulumink.com, send us a DM, go to the website, fill

59:06
conversationalist, too. I appreciate that. Absolutely. Thank you, man. Thank you for getting up, making the track,
59:11
Mickey. Damn. Woo boy. These they got me excited for the weekend. Come on, man.
59:17
Boss, we got we going to do some more, man. You got to leave every Friday like that. They do their job, man.
59:22
That's right. Yeah. Sometimes don't call yourself an MC. That's a fact. All right. Right. Heather, you want to add that? I started it. That's how I started, son.
59:29
Okay. My bad.
