hey guys this is T at uh the Eternal conversation Eternal perspective conversation and I have in front of me a
0:41
young couple and I'm going to let them introduce themselves so whoever wants to
0:47
go first I'll go first my name is yaha sh
0:52
not um I'm 26 years old and I work at pic case management um it's a nonprofit
0:59
organiz ation and we just help um clients connect to certain resources that they
1:05
need my name is Cyrus shoro um I am 21 turning 22 this month
1:13
uh I work for therof Fisher it's a scientific um organization where we
1:19
just do DNA testing and um do a lot of chemicals and and stuff like that okay
1:27
all right then would you guys give me a little little bit of your background as far as like where you from originally
1:33
like yaha that's a uh I want you to elaborate on that a little bit Yeah so
1:38
well I was born here um Fairfax Virginia my family is from nicara it's in Central
1:44
America um so parents older siblings were all born
1:49
over there um just myself and my younger sibling are born here in the US
1:56
um what about you Mr shauk um half of my family is Iranian and the
2:04
other half is Native American um so the last name is Native American but the first name is Iranian
2:11
good you know about King Cyrus in the Bible in the Old Testament so let's jump into these uh questions so you guys are
2:18
a young couple you just got married about a month and a half ago and uh I want to ask you some questions about
2:24
marriage I know a lot of people go well they've been married for like a month and a half so how can you ask them questions I don't think that matters at
2:30
all so my first question to you guys is this like how long did you date prior to getting
2:37
married dating it was like a little over a year and a half less than two years um
2:46
yeah and how was it like it was great I mean in the
2:52
beginning it's always always nice um going on several dates or meeting each
2:57
other's family getting to know each other more um I feel like we were more I don't know
3:04
adventurous we like to hike a lot of the time or be outside or stuff like that so
3:09
that was pretty fun okay and uh how and where did you
3:15
guys meet how did you meet um we met at church um so we've
3:23
been going to church together for a while and now we just never talked um I guess we never caught each
3:29
other's attention um but uh one day we had to I guess there
3:38
was a uh a youth retreat that they wanted to go to um King's Dominion for
3:44
all the youth to hang out to get to know each other um and yahida was a youth
3:50
leader um and she out of everybody decided to
3:56
come ask me I was led to the Lord led me to okay the Lord LED you um so from there
4:05
it all started from when she asked me to go with her um and of course I said
4:11
yes so ever since then we were talking and communicating and and hanging out
4:18
and um our passion for each other just grew now y you made a a good observation
4:25
you said the Lord LED you to ask him so did you you hear an audible Voice or how
4:31
did you know that it was the Lord that was leading you to ask him to come
4:37
um well it was definitely it's it was something new for me for me to approach
4:44
a guy it's it's not like me to be honest um I'm very shy and reserved so when I
4:51
say I felt led it was it wasn't me so you know I felt that it was the Lord
4:58
telling me to do it at the time I didn't know we joke about it like oh I approached him first um but when I
5:04
really get to think about it I mean it wasn't it wasn't me um God was leading me to approach him so and cus um when
5:13
you were going to church and you saw your hi that were you ever attracted to her as far as like this is somebody that
5:19
I want to be able to talk to or how did that happen how did you catch on um no I wasn't attracted to her don't
5:28
say that no specify why I wasn't attracted her to
5:33
her because she had very short hair okay and um so I never paid an attention to
5:40
her until I would say yeah at King's Dominion I started feeling feelings for
5:47
her and I was very excited when we went on our first date you know oneon-one
5:53
together um and I think from there um it was a completely different feeling than
6:00
any other girl that I've been with um so I knew there was there was something um
6:06
great to come out of this so she mentioned that the Lord led her did you feel at any point that this was somebody
6:12
that God was bringing into your life so how would you describe spending time with her in contrast to the other girls
6:19
that you spoke to or you talked to in the past what was different number one
6:24
um we both went to the same church so I already knew that um God was present um
6:30
in her life yes um as well as as well um
6:35
in mine um so that was one thing that definitely um stood out to me and I
6:42
would say another is um it's just you get a a more joyful
6:50
feeling um when you know that somebody else um believes in um God the same as
6:57
you do so you guys were basically equally yoked we say in the scripture where you believe the same thing so it
7:04
was kind of like a common uh theme that got you guys together right yeah right so now you guys announced that you
7:11
wanted to get married about I guess sometimes in what month was I forgot if
7:16
you can remind me when did you actually propose to yaha July July okay so the
7:22
question is um when you proposed to her and uh it was she said yes and you told
7:30
it to the world around you your friends your family members and people that know you how was the reaction did you run
7:36
into any objections did you have any questions when when people heard about it were they like why are you guys so
7:43
quickly getting married was the was there like anything like that from anybody that you know um I
7:51
would say no um I would just say that um maybe some people were like joking or
7:59
you know saying like already you know kind of thing but um it was just jokes
8:07
and they were all very uplifting about it and encour encouraging encouraging so
8:13
I think that those sorry those jokes those jokes lean more towards
8:18
Cyrus's end I feel like because he is younger um so I think that age
8:24
difference there I think surprised a couple people too but it was never like an objection of no this can't be
8:30
happening I think they were all happy for us in the end okay because sometimes when people joke about were you too
8:37
young sometimes a joke is actually a form of saying what is what's really on your heart so my my question to you is
8:44
this like being young and being so like being married at this young age have you ever heard someone telling you hey you
8:51
should have waited till you had this kind of job or maybe you had your career going before you got married have you
8:57
had any kind of of objections like that from anybody that you know I don't think specifically from
9:05
anybody but I think it was definitely on the back of our minds like those were obstacles we were both kind of um facing
9:13
and thinking about like okay financially are we ready can we afford an apartment or bills or student loans like it's just
9:21
like things add up um so I think that was definitely heavy on both of us um
9:27
you know financially speaking okay so the main uh thing that you guys ran into
9:33
is a financial challenge that's basically the main thing that was on your mind is are we able are we gonna be able to like do this together yeah did
9:41
you have any other fears like are we compatible like are there any other things that you actually um Talk talked
9:48
about thought about beside the financial [Music]
9:54
challenges not so much when it comes to compatibility I feel like we're pretty comp comptible
10:00
um obviously but um I don't think that was a fear for me
10:06
personally um I think when it comes to like marriage I think one of the fears that I
10:11
was thinking is like fitting that wife role um obviously
10:17
I've never been a wife before so from what I've heard from like my SI older siblings from my mother from other Role
10:23
Models it's like uh that was one one of the scary things cuz I I want to be a
10:28
great wife and in all kind kinds of aspects so I think that was one of them for me okay and when you say great wife
10:36
in your mind how do you describe the ideal wife according to what you believe
10:41
what do you think they an ideal wife should be like um just being there for
10:46
my husband um and or whatever means like not belittling him in any way uplifting him
10:54
um being there for him um being his security when he needs it um um you know
11:00
and all those little things around the house too like cooking cleaning all that stuff um yeah okay what about you cus
11:10
what does it mean for you to be a husband how do you describe uh what a husband should be like a husband should
11:18
be um an image of God that's deep my brother image of God how could you
11:26
explain please um he needs to be able to make his wife
11:33
holy uh without blemish um to present to the
11:39
Lord now you hit on a very important topic and I'm very proud of you for saying that because I've know heard a
11:46
lot of young people use that kind of language when it comes to what a wife and what a husband should be like so
11:51
that's EP you wereing out of Ephesians if I'm not mistaken and I think I may I may it might not be Ephesians I may be
11:58
wrong on that but the scripture says husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church in order to make her holy and
12:05
S you hit on that and and so how are you making your wife holy today um
12:12
so instead of doing what the world is telling you to do you listen to what God
12:18
is telling you to do and if your wife is watching you do that most likely she's
12:25
going to do the same amen and you guys work you know you work together as
12:31
one um and you never work to defeat each
12:38
other that's some very good points that you're making now on the theoretical you
12:44
you mentioned some good things now practical like what do you do now like since you've gotten married it's been
12:49
like a month and a half two months what are some of the things that you've implemented in your household now that you're a unit to preserve your marriage
12:59
I think one of the things that we were set on um is having like this
13:06
time alone with God before bed um so we'll have a prayer time or a quick
13:13
devotional or um my mom actually just gifted us this book um forgot the title
13:19
but it's about marriage um so just like reading over that and just having a time
13:25
to talk about each other's day um when we when we we eat together we don't
13:31
sometimes we'll turn on the TV and just eat together sometimes we'll sit and just talk about how our day went um you
13:37
know the good and the bad and all that so I think that's really helpful when it comes to that that's that's excellent
13:44
now the other question that I have for you is this it's it's okay to be a unit
13:49
like you are right now but do you have any support system because you guys are still young I know you guys you don't
13:56
really need that much help but do you have any kind of support system in case you run into some kind of challenges who
14:01
do you go to like do you have anybody around you that can kind of help you and would you please elaborate on that and
14:07
how important is that um I would say um we obviously have
14:16
our parents um and um also church
14:24
members um I think a big our big role models are definitely our
14:30
parents um and since they since both of our
14:35
parents are big Believers in in God um we we know that they have um great
14:43
advice and we know that we can come to them and we can all pray together and see what God has to say to all of us um
14:51
at you know any time we need it yeah okay and um next question that I
14:59
have for you is this how do you actually start your day when you get up in the morning what's the first thing that you
15:05
do that's one you mentioned that because we were literally just talking it's not a quick question it's just a question um I start my mornings pretty
15:13
rushed I I um I feel like I'm always running around trying to get dressed
15:18
trying to brush my teeth and get ready running out the door um I think the only time I really have sit down and just
15:25
relax in the car when I commute to work but I feel like sarus is kind of the opposite if you wanna tell yeah um I my
15:36
day at work starts at um 6 but I'm up at 4:30 and I'm just strolling through the
15:44
morning and relaxing I'm able to sit um eat some breakfast and watch some
15:51
videos on YouTube um and then once I get into the car I'm I'm just listening to
15:57
91.9 and just um really focusing on what you know God has prepared me for the day
16:03
and um you know asked him to be with me and and prepare me for what is ahead of
16:11
me you mentioned 91.9 now some of people that are listening to this may not know what 91.9 is so would you please tell us
16:18
real quick what is 91.9 it's a um it's a Christian radio
16:24
station um they have awesome um great
16:30
Christian songs um older songs newer songs um they also give you some um
16:39
quotes from The Bible um let's say you're down at at one point and you hear
16:44
a quote from them and you know that you know God is still there listening um
16:50
whenever you need him yes and also I wanted to ask you guys you guys are talented I know s is a
16:57
he he's good with his hand he can build stuff he can do a lot of things and yida you are a an excellent artist could you
17:04
please tell us what your talents are like I wna I want people to know like what you can do and you may even want to
17:10
bring some of your artwork to show it to us yes why not sure you have like two
17:16
minutes you can just go and grab something that you did I have a couple back there um no um I loved art for
17:24
since I was a little girl um I I just remember like my family
17:30
being so amazed at what I could do and I was like really this is nothing like that but um I went to Talon University
17:37
got my B Bachelor's in Fine Arts and I just enjoy drawing um specifically
17:43
portraits I'm trying to improve with that and hopefully one day you know get to utilize it and I don't know get to
17:50
the point where I can sell it I think confidence wise I'm not there yet but um
17:56
I want to be so um I've been able to use my Graphics skills too with like the church church logo and stuff like that
18:03
little projects here and there with the youth group so that's fun too even at work um so I really enjoy doing that
18:10
artistic creativity field to things well while I ask cus a question would you go
18:16
grab something for us to see okay and cus you did something amazing about a
18:23
year and a half ago which I don't think a lot of people know about is you bought a car and the car was totaled up like
18:29
the engine blew out and then what you did was you went and bought a new engine and rebuil the entire engine now would
18:36
you tell us how long the process took you and also once you built the engine you had a stick on a car that say built
18:44
by God could you please elaborate on that a little bit so I bought a uh 2005 in Infinity
18:53
G35 coupe um when I was in um senior year so 2007
18:59
um I only got to drive it for about eight months um and I thought this was going to be a great car it only had 880,000
19:06
miles on it and the engine just stopped working um so all my friends were
19:12
telling me Oh you should do this um engine swap and I thought it was
19:18
ridiculous and then finally you know all these people telling me I
19:23
should do it then I just went ahead and decided to do it um
19:29
and it's never been done before only by maybe a couple people um so it was
19:34
pretty hard to find you know directions on how to how to go
19:40
about it um so throughout the whole I think it
19:46
took me about two years of of really working on the car um at many points I
19:53
wanted to just be done with it and and get rid of it um
19:59
but for some reason I I just kept going on and and kept doing it and um even
20:06
though people were telling me man you're spending a lot of money on this car um is it going to be worth it and
20:12
then I kept I just kept telling them yeah it's going to be worth it and um finally I finished it and um I wanted to
20:21
make sure that everybody knew you know how I finished it and it was because of
20:26
God and now whenever um you know somebody sees the car or says man that's
20:31
an awesome car you know tell me the story behind it they can see that sticker um and I can let them know you
20:38
know the only reason why I finished it was because of him and you mentioned
20:43
something that is very important that I don't think a lot of people know you said it took you two years to do it yeah
20:49
now one of the things that I know someone that knows you mention is this thing called perseverance which means you you stay
20:56
through the process and you go through it as hard as it is and what that's one of the abilities that I believe God has
21:02
given you is the ability to stay through the course and then run run it and run it and not give up and I'm glad you you
21:09
you put that sticker on the car because that's a testament to what he has done in your life and how what kind of abilities he's given you so that's
21:16
that's incredible now y would you please show us your beautiful art so this is one photo um I made for
21:24
Cyrus yes him and his dad that's incredible
21:29
so that's s when he was younger and I wish I wish we had the picture so you
21:35
could have showed the picture and then so people can see actually how incredible this art is oh I don't
21:41
have yeah that's okay but you know this is what she can do now the question that I have for you now is um I know this is
21:49
I didn't ask you this before but how do you hear the voice of God because you guys mentioned a lot of God and a lot of
21:55
and when you say God who are you speak like talking about is he any God or when you say the name of God because I want I
22:01
like specifics So when you say the name of God who you who are you really talking
22:08
about I'm talking about the one and only God and what's his
22:14
name he has many names okay he has I am he has King of Kings Lord of
22:21
lords um but I would say um the way I hear from him is just
22:30
when I'm praying and I feel like if I'm just talking to him
22:37
um I get this um this definite answer um in my head saying you already
22:46
know what to do um and go go and do it go and do it
22:52
and um I know some people say that it may take it may it may take some time um
22:59
to hear from the Lord but um you know sometimes that is the case but for me I
23:05
feel like a lot of the times as soon as I start asking him I know the
23:11
answer um because he lets it um clear to me and I would say those are the uh you
23:17
know the the the easier things in my eyes but I say I would say the more
23:22
difficult things in my eyes um he makes it um
23:29
he he really wants to see if I'm going to really rely on him for those difficult things um and I continue to uh
23:38
you know continue to pray and continue to seek um until he gives me an answer right and
23:46
how do you um because sometimes we hear voices in our head and we may think this is the voice of God it may not be the
23:52
voice of God so is there any other practice any other thing that you do to
23:58
confirm IR that this is indeed the voice of God do you have any Scripture that you go to in case you don't really know
24:03
what is clear or do you have anybody that prays with you to kind of solidify what you think you've
24:12
heard um I would say also I asked God for a um a
24:19
verse um and um I go from there and then also I will ask um more people in a
24:29
group to pray for this one specific thing that I'm asking okay and um we
24:35
wait until the end to share what we have heard okay um and
24:41
once um there's more people that have heard the same thing then we know that that is God speaking amen so you don't
24:49
just make irrational decisions because you think this is God's voice you always want to make sure you confirm what about
24:55
you y how do you practice listening to the voice of the Lord um I think
25:03
with I know people often say they get this feeling and I I know I mentioned this when I approached Cyrus and I knew
25:10
it was the Lord because it was UN unlike me um so I would partially say that and
25:17
then through prayer um one of the things we actually went over uh in premarital
25:23
counseling right premarital counseling with our pastor um is how do we know
25:28
that we were called to one another and um I think one other things other than
25:34
feeling and emotions and all that um and compatibility is um I asked I personally
25:41
asked God for these qualities in a man so having them answered
25:46
like like it was just like checking off a box like with each quality each characteristic is just amazing to me so
25:54
it's it's when it comes to things like that um where the answer is clear
25:59
there's no um you know doubting anything big on yeah yeah I think for
26:06
me you guys have given me a a lot of things to to to think about tonight and
26:12
one of the questions that I have for you is this like why what would be the advice the one advice that you give to someone in their early 20s that wants to
26:20
follow in your footsteps like what would be like some of the uh things that you would tell them hey these are the pitfalls these are the things that you
26:26
need to watch out for like you if if a guy comes to you a girl comes to you and say I'm 20 I'm dating this guy I'm
26:32
dating this girl and so what would be the advice that you would give
26:38
them um one main thing I would say is don't listen to the
26:44
world um listen to what God has to tell you because the world is just all the
26:50
advice that you may think it's good advice but all the advice that the world gives you is just going to bring you
26:55
down and um this world is is is not um built to
27:03
uplift you when you say um the world could you I want you guys to give me
27:09
specifics when you say the world tells you this some some somebody may not understand what the world means like so
27:15
what do you could you give me some specifics there um I would say um your own
27:22
flesh um I would say other people um maybe non-believers
27:29
non-believers um just you know not obviously not not
27:37
anybody else but you know God God is the is the one that um you need to fully
27:43
rely on so there's just going to be many many
27:48
obstacles um that you're going to think about that are going to come your way um
27:55
people are going to you know disagree with with with what you say just because you're young and they're going to say
28:01
you know you don't know better um and then you're going to obviously try to listen to them because you say oh you
28:08
know they're older than me they must know better yes especially we live in in a
28:15
day and age where um it's a hypersexual uh society that we live in where
28:21
everything is about well you need to live together you know we don't know if you really fit so let's live together before we get married so we can kind of
28:27
see if we fit now you guys didn't take that route obviously because you knew that it
28:32
wasn't uplifting or glorifying to the Lord so when you come across a young man
28:37
or young woman that tells you listen I don't know if this is the guy that is for me or this is the girl that is for me so I just want to leave together with
28:44
our person to see if we fit what could be a Biblical advice that you give
28:50
them you said Biblical advice or advice advice in general MH
29:00
um well as as Believers um it's not what we're told to do biblically um and I
29:08
feel like following those those footsteps will lead you to a a
29:14
[Music] um uh I don't know like a stronger relationship a stronger relationship
29:21
marriage um in your future when you know other than taking the route you want to
29:26
take now which is moving in right away way and just seeing how it goes um we're
29:31
not led to that um but for I feel like for a non-believer I mean it'd be tough um but
29:38
[Music] um if they if they want marriage in their life I feel like that would be
29:44
their first step before before moving in together and just seeing how it goes because I feel like that's uh it's an
29:52
easy way out to commitment and if they're really trying to commit to someone they could easily I feel like
29:57
flee I would say um number one if there's if if already
30:06
they're saying how do I know if this is the right person then there's something
30:12
wrong um with that situation because if they have to say let me just
30:18
you know live with them and and see if we're going to work then then why why
30:25
are they together in the first place so they need to figure out first why are
30:31
they together why has God put them together um is it a learning process or are these
30:40
the ones that you know they're going to be with together forever um
30:46
but yeah I would say that um god
30:52
[Music] um you'll be you you'll you'll be closer to God when you obey his Commandments
31:00
and and um follow what he has asked you to do
31:06
um how like let's say h how are you supposed to be best friends with
31:11
somebody you know if you're not on their good side or you're not you know hanging
31:17
out with them talking with them and stuff like that so it's the same thing
31:23
um with God but at a higher standard yeah I understand well I'm I'm glad you
31:29
guys are saying this because this is not the kind of society that we live in and uh that's why I wanted to hear from you
31:35
guys and I want I wanted you guys to give your take on what it means to be married and um what would you say to
31:43
someone through young man or young woman about fleeing these youthful passions
31:48
you know how do you preserve your integrity how do you preserve your body
31:54
because the scripture says your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit right so what are some of the things that you can
32:00
do to not fall into these kind of sinful uh habits as far as like I'm I'm I'm I'm
32:07
talking about should you not be watching certain things on TV should you not be engaging in some conversations so how do
32:13
you preserve yourself from falling into these Temptations what have you done in your
32:19
own walk I think um personally uh most
32:25
importantly diving into the word in scripture and see what God
32:30
has um in store for you and also um you know separating yourself
32:38
from people who who are toxic in your life or are not the best example or
32:43
leading you astray um I think that was a big impact for me personally um and also
32:50
even the things you do watch on TV the music you listen to it could hit you the wrong way or the enemy could be getting
32:56
to you in that certain way so I think you know uh putting those things aside or having to not watch scary movies
33:04
stuff like that it's it necessary
33:10
yes what about you anything you want to Addus um I would say it is um really
33:18
difficult to do all that stuff um but yeah
33:26
just I would say a big part is the people you hang out with um they
33:32
influence you a lot U people at work um could be your bosses your your fellow
33:40
employees um it could even be your best friend right now
33:46
um but you know sometimes you always you don't have to say you know I'm not your
33:52
friend anymore or I'm you know I'm going to go far from you um because maybe you
34:00
know God has put you there to talk to them yes to influence them in a better
34:06
way so maybe God influences you to influence someone else yes um which
34:13
could most likely change your own life um so there's just there's many
34:21
different things that you have to cut out and there's also many different things that you need to understand why
34:27
they're there right they're there yeah that's important that you say you need to understand why they're there once you
34:32
understand the why it's easier to to know how to navigate through this hey
34:38
guys I really appreciate your you know everything that you said tonight and I'm thankful and my prayer is that you guys
34:45
continue to dig deep in the word of God and continue to live to glorify his name so um y would you please close us in
34:52
prayer I know maybe you don't want to be doing this but you know I'm asking you to do it mhm um heavenly father I want
34:59
to thank you for this wonderful time that we had um to spend with t and those who are watching um I pray that we this
35:05
conversation may have impacted them in um some type of way Lord father that um
35:11
it may speak to them Lord father and that they may um just make any changes
35:16
in their life that that they need to to um you know follow follow what it is
35:22
that you are telling them to do or father that they um you know May remove
35:28
themselves from certain situations or father and if they're um feeling led to
35:33
you know commit to a certain individual or father that it may be from you that they may clearly know that it is from
35:39
you and um if any way that that they are doubting that father I pray that they um
35:46
you know um remove themselves from that situation um but we thank you for this time um in your holy name amen
35:55
amen amen thanks T thank you
