We are relational creatures and most of us always want to feel the love of someone who cares about us, sometimes that love comes like a kind word spoken to us , a tangible gift , words of affirmation , a touch , a hug , fill in the blank. But how do we experience the love of God or love for God ? We are continuing our series on the book of 1 John and today we’ll be looking at the verses 5-6 of chapter 2,
5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
We looked at v1-4 several days ago. John was showing us how to test the genuineness of our faith by our obedience to the law and commands of God. He continues that trend in verses 5-6, and that’s what we’ll explore today.
