GB News Daily Reflection - Monday 1st September
In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we examine how there can be more of a barrier to following God if we think we are doing really well in life."As Jesus was choosing his disciples, he made what some people thought to be strange choices. He chose a tax collector called Matthew, who had plenty of money, who was indeed taking too much tax and keeping some for himself."Yet deep in his heart, that tax collector knew he was doing wrong. He knew he needed something more. And when Jesus chose him, Matthew followed. To the people looking on, they said, what is Jesus doing sitting with those tax collectors and sinners?"They thought he should have been sitting with the godly people. But Jesus replied by saying, these people know that they are in need of healing, that they are sick."A real barrier to follow in God can be when we think we are fine, and even worse if we're proud of being fine. But Jesus says, blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
