Now, the Labour Party likes to paint Nigel Farage as a plastic patriot
0:04
but cop-load of this. Yes, it's the plasticine Chancellor. And I'm joined by the artist himself now, Wilfred Wood
0:12
who's certainly got the nation talking. Wilfred, welcome to the show. A pleasure to have you again
0:16
But your mighty work adorns our screens there, and there's a certain uncanny likeness to the Chancellor
0:24
Tell us what inspired you to sculpt her. Well, she's obviously a big sort of public figure
0:30
and she's so incredibly dull and it's quite interesting to try and make an interesting sculpture
0:38
out of someone so boring. And you've certainly achieved that and I believe you have your mighty work with you now
0:44
Can we perhaps take a closer look at the plasticine, gentlemen? God, she's big, mate
0:51
She's big and heavy. She's really heavy. SHE LAUGHS What a fine conch she has Look at the size of that nose Well she has got quite a considerable conch And obviously if you doing a caricature that the sort of thing you rather tend to pick
1:09
on, mainly. And it has to be said, Wilfred, to be fair, you are a satirist. I understand you've
1:16
made puppets before for spitting image. This is your bread and butter, right? And this has
1:21
certainly got the nation talking. What's the reaction been to your work
1:26
Well, sometimes things go... I make things all the time, all sorts of characters and celebs
1:33
and I paint just normal, ordinary people, so to speak. But sometimes things kind of take off a bit
1:38
I did one of Liz Truss before I ended up on your channel
1:43
So I think you're my biggest fan, so thanks very much. It's an absolute pleasure
1:48
And it has to be said that your political barbs are apolitical
1:52
You have a pop of people on the left and on the right. Everyone's fair again
1:56
It's not singling out Rachel Reid in comparison. She just happens to be the latest choice as it were That right I mean it completely unfair She may be a very good Chancellor for all I know I purely picking on her because of her looks and boringness I wish it talked because then you could do an excellent imitation
2:14
of her unbelievably dull delivery. But on that note, you sculpted it out of plasticine
2:22
Is that right? It's made out of the kids' moulding products. How long did it take you and how much did it cost
2:27
I mean, it's massive. it took about a morning and it cost about seven pounds 30 it's not it's not difficult and it's
2:38
not expensive it's just heavy stuff but yeah it's children's material so anyone can use it and i
2:43
highly recommend anyone having some fun with plasticine it's great stuff to use there have
2:47
been some very um interesting comments about it on social media and again some of them have been a
2:52
bit cutting but one comment here said that the plasticine chancer looks infinitely more useful
2:59
than the real thing oh well that a bit harsh i mean i don it it a try i try to i tread a little bit of a fine line but i don want to be really horrible to people There even an ounce of affection in it in a way
3:14
And I've got no idea if she's an effective Chancellor or not
3:18
I think she's got an unbelievably difficult job. So I'll give her a lot of rope
3:22
but this is really quite a mild little poke. And there have been some very complimentary comments as well
3:30
Wilfred Wood, your work's been praised as magnificent brilliant and so good
3:36
and most of all what people have said is that you know crikey the world is a depressing place
3:42
often times at the moment this is a bit of fun isn't it well I hope so
3:46
I mean I think that art the primary purpose of art is to be entertaining
3:51
and if it isn't entertaining then it's really failed so yeah it's lovely
3:55
when it gets a bit of a reaction and people are amused by what I do that's what I'm aiming for
4:00
we've certainly got the nation talking and thank you very very much to come on GB News today
4:04
An absolute pleasure to have your company, the maestro Wilfred Wood. Thanks for joining us on GB News
4:10
Good fun, thanks. Absolute pleasure. Mine are you going to. Cheers
