Mar 6, 2026
Cornwall resident Josie has spoken to GB News after speaking to Prince William on the phone while placing her pasty order.Recalling the phone call with the Prince of Wales, Josie told GB News Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker: "Usually it's David or his daughter that answers the phone and I just give my order. And it's quite simple, but it was a bit noisy there yesterday. "I thought, well, I must definitely order them because they'll be in high demand, but I had no idea whatsoever. I did when I went to collect them because they said, who took your order? "I said, well, a gentleman, I don't know who it was, but he did get a bit muddled up with my name."WATCH ABOVE.

Hello and welcome to GB News Originals. I'm Cameron Walker, GB News's Royal Correspondent and we have got an exclusive treat for you
0:07
You may have seen in the news yesterday that Prince William was at Gere Farm in Cornwall helping them make pasties for St Pyrrhen's Day, Cornwall's National Day
0:17
And an unsuspecting customer rang up the farm shop wanting to place an order with pasties
0:25
But somebody she wasn't expecting answered the phone. Take a look. We just say, Gia Farm
0:31
Gia Farm, hello. Good afternoon. Do we have any steak frozen pasta
0:40
We've got plenty. Yes, how many would you like? Do you have any cooked steak pasta
0:48
We do, yeah. Yes, we do. What time do you close? Two o'clock
0:55
We're close at two o'clock. Of course it will be lovely. Do you want me to take an order from you
1:08
Ten frozen pastries. I can do that. I've got plenty of cooked ones
1:14
Just made some fresh ones now. Ten frozen
1:54
Now Josie of course had absolutely no idea but it was Prince William on the phone and I delighted to be joined now by Josie from Cornwall
2:14
Josie, good morning to you. First of all, just explain why you chose Gear Farm to order the pasties and why you wanted
2:21
to order 15 yesterday specifically. Well, I've had a long association with Gear Farm ever since they've been making pasties
2:30
I'm quite a connoisseur as far as food is concerned and I love really good Cornish pasties
2:37
and their pasties are just superb they really are and I regularly order them and go and collect them
2:46
because I get very disappointed which happened once when I went over there and there were none
2:53
oh really they'd all run out yes yes oh indeed but yesterday there was lots on offer and see
3:02
you called them didn't you and somebody picked up the phone but you didn't recognize the voice
3:07
no usually it's david or his daughter that answers the phone and i just give my order and it's quite
3:14
simple but it was a bit noisy there yesterday i don't know quite why but it was st pyrrhan's day
3:21
So that's another reason why I thought, well, I must definitely order them because they'll be in high demand
3:28
Do you have no idea that it was Prince William that you were speaking to? None whatsoever. I did when I went to collect them because they said, who took your order
3:38
I said, well, a gentleman. I don't know who it was. I said, but he did get a bit muddled up with my name
3:45
Yes, he did. He called you juicy, didn't he? He did. Yes
3:48
I suppose in that kind of situation, not knowing who it is, what did you say to him when he got your name wrong
3:57
I just said, it's not juicy, it's Josie. And then we laughed about the pasties being very juicy and that sort of broke the ice really Oh good perfect And did you hear any laughter in the background There was lots of laughter and there was lots of noise which there isn usually
4:16
Well, there's usually a little bit of residual noise, but there was a lot more than normal
4:21
And did that give you any suspicions that something was up or were you still none the wise until you turned up
4:26
None whatsoever. None whatsoever. So then talk me through what happens when you turned up
4:30
to collect your pasties. Oh, I just said I've come to collect my pasties
4:35
and I said it's Josie then I made the comment somebody did think my name was juicy but you know
4:43
it obviously isn't and they just said did you know who took your order I said well a gentleman
4:50
but I don't know who it was and they said would you like to would you be surprised to hear that
4:56
it was Prince William. And I was flabbergasted. I said, who? And, you know, it was just, you know, a bit crazy, really
5:07
And then I didn't have to pay for the pastures. I was given them complimentary, which was very, very exciting
5:16
And yes, it was just amazing, really. Oh, brilliant. And have you heard from Kensington Palace since
5:24
Yes. Prince William's PA telephoned me and asked for permission to share my telephone number with
5:31
you know a number of people but the interesting thing is I have a son that lives in Australia
5:38
and it's on the Australian news oh wow so it's traveled around the world it has and another son
5:45
lives in Arizona so he he got the news from me but the Australian one I don't know where that
5:51
came from oh gosh and did you uh what was what has the reaction been from friends and family
5:57
well everybody's just been laughing their heads off it's just caused great hilarity and i just
6:02
think that you know it's just amazing how something so small can you know have such a ripple
6:09
yeah it really can and how were the pasties because i i believe you and your family have eaten them already no we um we stayed up gear and they the smell is absolutely divine and you starting to salivate as soon as you
6:24
smell them and we ate half each in the car before we left and the others have gone in the freezer
6:31
um it's mother's day next weekend and one of our children are coming down and our children
6:37
all love pastas so we have to have plenty at the ready imagine yes and i'm sure they're very
6:44
filling as well and how important how important is it that prince william came to helston to
6:50
a support local businesses and spend time with the community because of course he's duke of
6:54
cornwall as well isn't he yeah we've had a quite a rough time just recently with the weather i mean
7:00
it's rained and rained and rained and the storm has been horrendous and sadly in the next village
7:06
to gear farm somebody in a caravan was killed because a tree fell on the caravan so it's been a
7:13
a tough time for a lot of people trees falling down roads closed damage to things so yes it's
7:22
been wonderful and i think the emergency services have been very busy and i think he went to see the
7:28
fire service in halston and took them pasties yes he did he did indeed and uh yeah he came to
7:35
obviously um thank the emergency services for the storm gretti wasn't it were you affected by storm
7:41
gretti yes we have a fence by the side of our house that leads down to the beach and quite a
7:48
lot of it just got blown down and it's quite a it was quite a sturdy front fence before it was
7:53
blown down but the winds were over 100 miles an hour i bet you're hoping for a much warmer and
8:01
nicer summer absolutely yeah and well josie thank you very much for speaking to me and really
8:07
