The GB News 12 Days of Christmas. Day 9
0:05
Hi, my name's Jordan and I'm a vicar in the Church of England
0:10
It's day 9 of the 12 Days of Christmas and it's the 2nd of January
0:15
A new year, a new beginning, a new start. And at the beginning of a new year, often people make New Year's resolutions
0:26
They are promises, if you like, to ourselves on how we will live differently
0:33
Sometimes people make resolutions about drinking less or joining the gym or getting healthy and eating more healthy
0:43
And if people are anything like me, by February, they are a distant memory and completely failed
0:49
So at the beginning of a new year, I like to remember the promises that God makes to me
0:55
As Christians we believe God always keeps his promises And when the angels come to the shepherds to announce the birth of Jesus the shepherds are terrified And the angels say to the shepherds
1:09
fear not, for I bring you tidings of great joy, for in Bethlehem, the saviour of the world has
1:15
been born. Fear not. That's a promise I take from God. And he says it 366 times in the Bible
1:24
one for every day of the year plus one and this is a promise that I take refuge in my life
1:33
it's a promise that has led me through hard times in my life as I look to God who is the one who
1:42
takes my fears away and I wonder this year if I decided to lean into that promise and fear less
1:50
how different it might be for me
