The GB News 12 Days of Christmas, Day 11
0:06
Hello, I'm Micah Vicar in the Church of England. Those of us with family in the Southern Hemisphere feel a twinge of envy at this time of year
0:14
because right now they are lighting barbecues on the beach, enjoying the long evenings
0:21
But as good as that sounds, Christmas really does belong in the bleak midwinter
0:28
Not simply because we need a bit of cheer in an otherwise grim time of year
0:32
but because the season speaks profoundly of why Christ came. He's the light of the world who comes into the darkness of our world
0:45
Which means that whatever sorrow or confusion or winter we face, Christ is precisely there to bring light, hope and life, if only we'll let him
0:58
Some time ago, a visiting friend got lost in the village. And try as I might, I couldn't direct him to my house
1:06
And so what did I do? Well, I went out to where he was
1:11
I joined him in his lostness so that I could lead him home
1:17
This is the heart of Christmas. Christ came to join us in our lostness, in our darkness
1:24
and those who walk with him are brought safely home
