The Chibi News Daily Reflection

Hi, I'm Mark Wilson, a Church of England vicar in West Bromwich
0:10
Today is St James' Day and so what a fantastic day to be inside St James' Church
0:17
On the 21st of April 1947, on her 21st birthday, Queen Elizabeth II said these words
0:25
I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong
0:40
And up until her final days, she did receive her red boxes
0:46
And it's believed in her final moments she published a memo. Even if her late majesty didn't hold any actual political power, her influence was massive
1:00
Her service was lifelong. There a story in the Bible where James and John mum went to Jesus and asked for them to be on his right and on his left in his kingdom I mean what a question to ask
1:18
And you can imagine James and John now being embarrassed. Mum, please, no
1:23
But Jesus, his response, his response was actually, were they willing to do what he does
1:30
to drink the cup from which he drinks to be baptized in the baptism that he was baptized in
1:37
To do the ministry that he ministers. Obviously that ends with Jesus dying on the cross
1:47
But that's the question, isn't it? Will they serve? Because the Bible says that this is what a true leader does
1:56
To give themselves to service. This is what our late Queen did too, to serve to the end
2:06
I just hope that I can serve as Jesus served and put others before myself
