Hello, my name is Marjorie and I'm a Baptist leader in Sheffield

I wonder who and what comes to your mind when you hear the word saint
0:16
In the book of Ephesians in the Bible, Paul addresses the church as God's saints
0:22
And he gives us a powerful reminder that following Christ isn't just about believing
0:27
it's about becoming becoming a totally different kind of person when we hear the word saint we
0:35
often think of very special people of the past people we might idolize but not attempt to imitate
0:41
but if you look at their lives they were just regular ordinary people who made some wise and
0:48
sometimes courageous choices to live well and avoid evil we can all do this becoming a saint
0:56
doesn't mean being perfect. The word actually means being set apart and continually transformed
1:03
by the Spirit of God. This transformation is good for us and for others. Saint Paul tells us to stop
1:11
lying and to speak truthfully, to control our anger, to build others up with our words and to
1:19
forgive, just as in Christ God forgave us. These aren't just moral instructions, they are the daily
1:26
habits of someone becoming holy, leaving behind older habits that are unhelpful and adopting new
1:33
ones that bring life. Becoming a saint happens one choice at a time as we cooperate with the
1:40
Spirit in honesty, purity, kindness and grace
