The GB News Advent Calendar, Day 23
0:05
Hi, I'm Jordan and I'm a vicar in the Church of England. Where I live, next door, is a park
0:12
And me and my little boy know I love spending time together in the park. And recently I took him down to the play area and he wanted to go on the monkey bars and he's quite small so I had to lift him up
0:24
And I held him as he went across each of the bars the first time
0:28
But I noticed he's beginning to get a bit stronger. So the next time I let go and put my hands just underneath him
0:36
And he freaked out because he thought I was no longer with him
0:41
And then when he realized and heard my reassurance, Noah, I'm with you, I'm close
0:45
he began to swing from bar to bar and grew in confidence. In the book of Isaiah, it prophesies and foretells Jesus's coming
0:56
and one of the names he uses for Jesus is Emmanuel, which means God with us
1:03
And this Advent, as we look to Christmas Day and as Christians look to the birth of Jesus, to his coming
1:09
when Jesus was born, he became God with us. As Christians, we believe he is fully God and fully human being
1:19
One of us, yet God with us. and as I look to Christmas and as I reflect on my life and on the future
1:27
I know I can walk with confidence through things I would not otherwise be able to
1:32
because Jesus Emmanuel is God with us and I have confidence that what I walk through
1:40
his hands of care are never too far away
