get a good camera but there's there's one slight get out there is many um of

literally days before we went on this trip so we didn't get a package of photographs and video and I think it's a

real big Miss because most people on this trip were using an iPhone now when you watch my videos so I have one coming

out which is um actually a vlog I've done which will uh be coming out the

week after next um I've finished it and in fact people patrons and members have seen most of that um but you'll see some

what I think are pretty amazing Wildlife shots which are zoom and I've just used not a massive Zoom uh I do have a camera

with a big Wonder M lens but I and I use a little bit with some of the whales but got a a Sony RX camera which has a

pretty good zoom but I was able to get closeup stuff lots of people with iPhones just didn't get that because

although you get some zoom on the iPhone like particular the iPhone 15 16 and whatever the couldn't be I do think you

need a camera with a good zoom however if you don't go that far do check if you get that package of photographs so for

example Seaborn does it I think Quark does it a few others do it so that kind of means that you don't have that stress

of that but B obviously great um as well many of the Expedition trips will include binoculars so for example we had

binoculars in our cabin I think when I went on Pont you had the same thing but if you really want to get some of those

great shots and particularly with things like Wales now if you're going to the Arctic uh you know ships have to stay

500 meters away from polar bear and they have to pull back now so you do need

some kind of good thing to to really see those um so hopefully that's answered your question so I know some people on

doing full bonus Aries all the way around and eventually goes uh up through Peru and stuff so I can go to matchu

pretty good job at it the thing I liked about Holland America and probably Viking as well is they have a lot of

enrichment so we learned a lot about the area they had fantastic speakers and I think if you go there you kind of need

that and they also had really good commentary when we did that Chile and fud's uh Scenic cruising they project

put commentary out and I'm sure things like Viking would do so I would look for something that has probably pretty good

so we had a chter flight now the so the short answer to your question is yes um there was there was food it was pretty

basic food uh so we had a choice of like a vegetarian dish or a chicken dish and

they had little um like crackers with cheese and they had some little dessert

type things as well well um but the way actually it works there if you are doing if you are because I'm guessing since

you're asking San P Williams you're doing the chter flights on Silver sea you actually do that in two phases so

from you go on a a larger plane from Santiago down to penus you then um go

from the bigger plane into three separate planes with Antarctic Airlines which then uh so you get SP to three

flights which then go from penes to putto Williams and when you come back you do three to to P Rus and so on uh

because the the runway pter winds cannot take big planes so it has the smaller planes so you actually break it up into

two now the flight between puter Williams and pu renes is pretty short so you don't get any food on that way it's

like a 45 minute flight or so but it's worth taking kind of some snacks along so for example our flight coming back

was very severely delayed we about an hour and a half two hours to lay was sitting on the plane for like two hours because of some bit of equipment they

needed um and we didn't get sered food were quite late um so that you know you might want have a few few snacks couple

of people on the flight had snacks and they were like people was pleading for for snacks um

Warren are you concerned that the window for Antarctic expedition is closing now

that is why you're doing so many trips now so in in I guess you're talking about with the with the evolution and of

climate change and the change there I mean I think that's although undoubtedly there's change coming I think it's even more dramatic in the Arctic I mean we

did have some talks around the impact in Antarctica um but it's still some time away before it is a dramatic impact um

so yes I think it's concerning that unless they find a way of stopping the oceans particularly one of the big

challenges to anartica is the ocean is warming and that has massive impact on particular the Krill uh which is the

fundamental food that feeds all the whales and the seals and Penguins and if

the Krill as a Krill declines uh that has a massive impact and obviously

there's other warming issues there so that you know keeping the ocean cold is

really important and particularly the way that the this for those who don't know around Antarctica basically it has

its own sort of circular cold water uh

you know that b slushes around and that's warming up and that has big big impacts so yes I am I mean why I do so

many trips now is because it's just so phenomenal and I sort of said to myself this is the third time I've been and I

wouldn't go again I tell you I really want to go again and I have to find a way of finding the outrageous amounts of

where someone became a million mile was wondering with all of your travel in your professional career and then

traveling now have you crossed that threshold I I don't know if I've become a million mile I need to look at that

but what I the plus side is is I'm uh I mostly travel ba uh although in my

corporate days we I had a travel on either United or virgin based on what Johnson Johnson had kind of was the

preferred flyer but the advantage with all that travel is I have become what's called permanent gold so I'm a high

status onba uh which and I don't get tier points every year to keep that status so it does also mean that I get

things like no matter what type um uh you know Fair I've booked I can choose

seats straight away I I'm normally at the front of the queue in terms I'm always group one to board so it's quite

can prepare you for being in Antarctica you know surrounded by these thousands of penguins you know hundreds of

machine on a cruise I was just wondering because my parents going a 16-day cruise to Hawaii soon thank you for sharing your videos thank you for watching so

chrisy it depends on the cruise line you're on so for example I was just off on Seaborn on their expedition ship they

had a cruise laundry yeah they had a laundry for passengers which had six machines and

six dryers you know if you go on something like kunard they have most decks will have a laundry or maybe one

two decks if you go on Silver SE they have one on most decks and so on so a lot of it depends on the cruise line so

depending on what cruise line they're going on but many of them will have a guest laundry uh but not all will have

them so I can't and need be careful saying what has and what hasn't so I think for example when I was on

Norwegian I think they don't have if I remember correctly so I was used sending away for laundry but obviously you can

send away for laundry which can be quite pricey my little tip for them is if the

cruise line doesn't have a guest laundry uh why don't get them to speak

to their cabin Steward and ask them if they ever do the one bag for a cheap

price promotion so particularly on these longer Cruisers they will often do a thing where you'll have one bag you know

the laundry bag and you'll be able to fill it with as many items you want some of them cap at like 15 items or 20 items

and they have a set price which is normally a pretty good price and they'll sometimes run the a couple of times during a cruise so I will sometimes use

those if they don't have uh you know a special offic that Norwegian example for example I use that bag I think was under

10 CR I want to do some laundry so I waited for that promotion check on like Kev Stewart um also I you know like for

example was greater on the silver sea trip which is an 80 night trip is I didn't have to use the laundry because

since Royal Caribbean merg there Royal Caribbean their celebrity and their silver sea you they kind of match the

status I could get the status now on Silver even though I haven't been on Silver seed that much which me I got free

laundry so but I'm guessing probably they haven't if they're going in it often you might find check their Suite

favorite spot in reality I really loved the you know the the food food it's

called now the food C where you could order of iPads I love that as a spot but that's definitely not a quiet place to

that trip and the downside I guess with Norwegian Prima the way it's l us got

all these lots of little kind of venues dotted around a lot of people would use that Atrium area although it's

definitely not a quiet spot um I did actually you know in the Starbucks just

behind the Starbucks there's some seating behind there which you get a nice view out into the ocean or whatever

I would sometimes go and sit there and do stuff but it's not particularly quiet but I hope you have a great time on Norwegian Prima uh really to know what

you think of the ship I personally liked it but was Finding Norwegian dards found it a little bit too different that new

think got seasick when you hit those high seas so we actually for those who don't know we had um we were chasing a

storm at one point really between uh the Forkland of South Georgia we we headed off early to a day early to go straight

and I think the reason for that was because people got a little bit of climatized because we started off

going from Ponto Reas across to the Forkland it wasn't that b b it maybe two

three meters waves and then people kind of got used to the bigger ways we had probably between four meter ways when we

were heading down the advantage of the storm was behind us so the ship was doing more that than the kind of the Rolling side so we had pretty rough Seas

so I didn't see ber weren't deserted you know all of the um the one of the talks

were a little bit quieter but you because you could watch the talks in the cabin but you know the lunch was always busy the dinners were always busy the

evening briefings were always busy so I didn't think there was particularly high percentage I think on the the first day

crossing the second day Crossing Drake Passage I think people probably felt it a bit more because there was quite a lot of movement and we were doing more of

the side movement but I think it was probably quite a small percentage I would basically L of people disappeared

Cruisers we've taken four Viking Cruisers having none on Oceania so don they are in some ways

fairly similar because they're sort of in the same category they're in that sort of small ship luxury category they

both would they you know they focus on enrichment I would say Viking enrichment is significantly better than on Oceania

they do have a guest speaker or two but in fact pretty much every ocean trip it's been the same person they have a

vast Bank of talks I think she say something the speaker they something like 200 different talks um whereas on

Viking they'll tend to have more Regional specialist so I would say if you're very into enrichment Viking is

probably stronger Oceania I would say overall their food is stronger probably

not as strong as they think it is versus Viking but you have obviously you have more depending on what ship you go on

you have a wider choice of included specially dining now what's really important about Oceania is Viking

obviously have one class of ship now I know they launch a slightly bigger ship but the layout is exactly the same so

every Viking ocean ship you go on is exactly the same in Oceania they have two broad classes they've got the RASS

ships so you've got things like Insignia rata Serena which are the small they're pretty old ships uh which were built I

guess was in the 80s or something like that um and they are the same ships as asamara have they're pretty old ships I

mean they're nicely maintained but they are kind of small ship 700 passengers uh size then you have the

1,250 passenger uh Marina and Riviera and then you have the new ones which are

coming which is Viva and Allura which are slightly smaller 1,200 but basically it's the same layout

and the experience is quite different so what which ship you choose does have a different experience you have much more

choice of dining experience so so obviously if you go on those uh Marina Riviera Vista Etc they are bigger than

you're going to be used to on Viking which I think is 900 that's about 1,200 uh so it's slightly more people um you

have fewer inclusions as well so an Oceania for example you're not going to have your wine and beer and meals uh you

know depending where you book for example I know if I book a viking in the UK goodes are included I think I'm right

Viking uh I find they kind of more mixed when they go to Oceania in in reality um

I I like Oceania I probably lean a little bit more towards Oceania than Viking um just because I like I you know

I just like it's a slightly more relaxed environment dress code all that kind of stuff is very very similar uh David has

of it depends on budget let me just say that for a start all of them are going to be quite costly but um I do still

lean very much towards silvery um because silvery of being an

expedition Expedition ships for a while they have a very strong Expedition team a very

strong set of Captain so you can really see on this trip where we had lots of weather related and Ice related issues

just the understanding of the captain and the Expedition team with their experience down there they made sure every day we had incredible experience

so I do lean a little bit towards silver sea Seaborn obviously a little bit newer um but they have very nice ships so

they're a good option if you want to stay in the luxury side you've got Viking however my only caution with Viking liking is you know you want to

stay ideally with ships that have 200 passengers or you know fewer than 200 passengers because many of the best

sides in Antarctica will only allow 200 people you know in either in a day or in

a morning or an afternoon with 100 people on land people off so actually that on a ship like uh you know Viking

which carries more than 200 passengers or H gr which carries more than 200 passengers you're more slightly more

limited in where you can go so you want to stay with ships fewer than 200 if you Poss possibly can obviously you you find

if you go to hood G and some of those other they become more affordable so it's kind of balancing those two things

now um I would also include to look at is Quark Expeditions which have huge

experience they are per a little bit more serious if you like um in terms of

their approach to Expedition just in terms of you know they they they they focus much on the Expedition not to say

the ships aren't luxurious and the food isn't good and stuff but they kind of they you know Sil would offer you a

strong kind of onboard experience and a strong Expedition quak could kind of push even more the Expedition side and

if you want to go even the next stage you've got kind of a Lind blat National Geographic so I would those are the ones

that I would lean towards now I've also been there on Pont which are fantastic but you need to accept you're going to

have more French passengers uh and you know French is kind of the lead the lead language now there are more affordable

options and I'm doing some work with or be doing some work with po um uh po

done an RB Boat Trip which goes down the coast and then goes Inland and you call

in some places you go to where the old kind of um roses lime Factory was and

stuff like that and gone into some local Villages so I haven't done the whale watching trip and I'm not sure to be

honest um if it's now whale watching time so I would probably just do a double check that that is a good time to

champagne snorkling if that's your thing or the RB one was really really good good fun and it was kind of mixture of

some high spe spills uh we we actually managed to get into the water at some

point and we went to some local Villages went to the areas where because for those you don't know it's kind of it's

It's kind of there is kind of I guess a volcano there so the champagne thing is where air is escaping but you go to some

of the beaches and they're warm and they created the sort of like little most hot tub areas because the sea is actually warm uh from being heated from un from

would you recommend a port intensive Cruise or a fewer Port Cruise plus land St so Andrew I will put a link I'll try
