this is a the group Cruise gang as it were now not everybody is here

unfortunately because we actually did our group Cruise picture after the farewell cockta party but because there

was lots of issues uh with getting in a little bit later on the final uh Port so

actually excursions of push backs so not everybody made it but that's a big slug of the gang now one of the one we did

loads of stuff and I'm putting together a video where you can see much more of the group crws uh including the meetups

and the dining and the pre stuff we did with Boston which I'll talk about in a second um and all different bits pieces

we did so I'm putting together a video of that now one of the things that we did there was lots of prizes which had this logo on for the different meetups

but also um we had raffle with prizes from E Boston there was celebrity stuff

talk a little bit about the group so a couple of people here like Christina is here um I think I saw Paul and Carol are

here uh P Carol Of course um they were there they having their group Cruise in May which I'll be going to and it'll be

great because I'll be able to just be a passenger literally of the group Cruise um and hia was there so hi's got a

question specific question which I will come to so a couple of people asked how was the group Cruise how did it go so

Lucy asked where did the group Cruise go hopefully you saw that on that cruise map that I brought uh up there so we

went from Boston we went to Rockland we went to Halifax Sydney overnight in

Quebec um to charlott town and Prince Edward Island then at Portland and then

back to Boston so that was the group Cru there was 68 um people and myself as

well so um somebody asked what was the highs and the lows of the group cruise I

mean the highs lights where obviously the destination is fantastic we had pretty good weather was only in

Charlotte Town was less good um I had a great time meeting people you know I keep the group Cruise relatively small

so I can interact with people as much as I possibly can so I hosted tables every night but even then it was a challenging

to talk to everyone at the table um so that was the highlight I think of getting to meet everybody the low light

was probably it was just not enough time to to meet everybody we had really lousy weather in one port maybe that was the

low light I mean celebrity Eclipse um which is the last of the solers class to

go through their reimagine their updating so it was a little bit tired in some places the cabins were perhaps a

little bit tired you know the seats in the dining room were a little bit tired but that was not so much a low light as

just something that probably was uh you you know notable so that that's kind of

good to know now haa had a question specifically related hia has been on two of the group Cruisers um and hia asked

the question on our last group Cruiser Waiters in the main dining room were really pushy about giving them a perfect

score on the celebrity survey is this common practice so I yes you're right um I'm seeing this increasingly and

particularly on Royal Caribbean group um but on the other lines um particularly

with cruise lines where they're starting to build more of the um you know through

their packages or through their fairs where they're starting to include the gratuities much more in you know in the

fair so that the crews the crew just get a cut of the gratuities and so what the

cruise line get has moved towards is they're really pushing about scores and they are heavily um kind of rewarded or

appraised or I guess uh punished if that's the right word um based on the
6:45
scores so they are really really pushy about the scores and I have seen that on many cruises that have been recently and

to your point it gets a little bit uncomfortable because they do really push it but even when I was on Seaborn recently um the cruise director gave a

whole speech at the end around how basically they really wanted tens at a push a nine anything below a nine was a

fail um so there I'm seeing that more and more and more because those ratings

are seen by head off as they're seen by the crew and are having a massive uh big impact there Margo which is great um to

see here um who's coming on the next group Cruise which is in Panama so that's my next group Cruise so let me

get to some of the other questions that were popped in so uh Frederick asked what is your opinion of celestial Cruise

Lines what category would you put them in we thinking of Eastern Mediterranean in September so celes is a line that I

haven't been on yet for those who don't know it's a Greek Focus line uh it's Greek owned I believe and it focuses on

the Greek Islands uh their ships are relatively old ships relatively good condition um you know they're not

particularly luxurious but they are real experts at Greek Islands so they're

relatively small ships so the first positive is you got to small ship experience so they fall sort of in the

small ship category but they're not really luxurious um and most people to
8:07
go on them like them but don't expect kind of uh you know a particular premium experience even though it's a smallish

ship don't expect a particular premium experience but as an option going around the Greek Islands they are really really

good they do more overnights for example some even go to two ports in a day they might do one and they'll go to say MOS

that spend overnight and the next day there so um I haven't tried them I did a cruise by then was actually canell and I

just haven't had a chance to rebook those um Dean asking the question Arctic

or Antarctica Expedition I'm guessing that should be Cruz debating on either

not a fan of crossing the Drake Passage your thoughts so first of all for me without a shadow of a doubt it's

anarctica every time if if it's only a choice between the two um just because

Antarctica is just so incredibly special it is so unique and and it is so just

mindboggling uh you know Arctic of course is fantastic I've done the Arctic F I've done the Canadian Arctic which is

also fantastic but in terms of just the overall experience I would go for Antarctica now if you don't want a cross

straight passage there is a cop out because I do feel like TR passage is part of the experience um so there is

some lines but certainly silvery with the silver Endeavor ship um for much of the season they um they actually have

that within that AR I think it's it's a Prince Edward Island if I remember correctly or was it King Edward Island

um and they have a a charter flight Which flies uh people in so you miss

Drake's Passage and fly people out now the one risk with that is it's heavily dependent on weather so a friend of mine

did that because she didn't want to do Drake's Passage and she actually had a shorter trip because the weather wasn't

good enough to get the charter flight in so the people who are on the tail end got a a few more days more and she got a

few days fewer so I would you know Drake Passage it can be hidden miss it can be Drake Lake it can be Drake shake you

know it's almost Worth to be honest being fing a little bit poorly for a day or two um if that's the worst case um

and to give you a sense of how powerful I think an Arctic is I'm going at the end of this month so I think it's two

weeks is it two weeks or three weeks on Tuesday uh actually boarding um I think

it's in about two Saturdays time or three Saturdays time flying off um and I'm doing an for the third time I'm

doing actually on Silver Endeavor which uh is doing a sou Georgia Forkland and

I'll B Cruise an 18 night cruise before it it then goes and um does that flying

one I did see somebody else advertising the flying word I can't remember which uh which line it was uh so Andrew and

so Megan is asking the question how good are Holland America particularly but Cruise L's General good at managing diet

requirements like dairy free or gluten-free what's the best way to manage it so Megan um I will answer this

but I also have a video I strongly recommend you watch I'll try and remember in fact I will make a little note for myself to pop it into the list

so I have a video um around I be able to read my writing it let me write it a bit

neater um I'll put I'll put a link in this afterwards um you so maybe five or

um uh about how to manage it but basically all the major Cruise Lines um are very good at managing those

requirements uh it's best to work with the matro D initially in the main dining room uh although you know people who

have dietary issues in fact there was many on this last group Cruise still were comfortable using the the buffet

because they could find out what ingredients were I generally find the main dining room is one of the safest ways to do it so depending on your needs

what will often happen is you will of get a menu say the night before you can go through that menu and talk about

things that need to be left out or included some will have a specific menu so for example they'll have a vegan menu

uh so on Celebrity as well they had a vegan menu vegetarian vegan menu as well as the items there so they are pretty

good they're very experienced they have a separate area of the kitchen that will deal with dietary requirements so um

they will they will handle those things like gluten-free for example will be uh

you know you have a gluten-free section in the buffet now dairy free and gluten-free is actually relatively easy for them to manage they are used to much

more complex things so for example Mark uh my other half has some issues with

dairy and actually just bages it on a Case by case basis doesn't even talk to the mat that much about it because it's

very easy to manage within that but they are very good um Steve who uh back from

the group Cruise driving so fewer comments which is which is uh which is great um so let's have a look at the

group Cruise are here which is uh which is absolutely fantastic um let's have a

look so Ronda hi there Ronda um who was also on the group Cruise have you ever had to put in a claim with travel

insurance if so what was the process like uh so Ronda I I have um it was once

luckily and touchwood this is only the case it was only once actually and it was actually for my parents um when I

booked Cruise um for them and then my dad fell very ill and couldn't go on the cruise so it was really a cancellation

uh thing that we did so I think a lot of it uh Ronda is hinges around obviously what the claim is um and your uh your

insurance company normally what you'll find is there is a there's a number uh which is a claims group uh and that's

the best way in the key key thing I've discovered obviously is documentation so if you and I have addressed this I think

in some other videos recently uh if it's a medical one for example make sure that you've got that documented so you know

obviously receipts from the medical center but if you've reported an incident uh you know make sure you get

that a Written Letter uh if something's happened on board so if anything's happened on board a ship that you're going to be claiming or or you know

you've fallen over or hurt yourself or lost something or broken something whatever documentation you can get that

helps uh with with the with the travel insurance um I I found only if You' got

good documentation then you're fine so for example in one of the videos recently I was talking about people who been successful at making some medical

claims versus some people who weren't successful at Medical claims I was really around that the people who were

less successful just hadn't got documentation from the ship and of course trying to get it retro was a really really really uh really big a

considering either the Rotterdam or queenan for the Norway FS Cruise in 2025

your thoughts on comparing or contrasting between them so John two things first of all I would look at the itineries uh you want to have as many um

you know fued ports as possible and as few sort of towns as possible so you

obviously you're probably going to have things like Bergen as um uh oh my back

umanga um Christian place do you want to see place that are more FY like now both

of those are relatively big ships um as you probably know they are are basically the same ships the Rotterdam is a

pinnacle class ship Queen is a slightly stretched Pinnacle class ship so it's actually carries more passengers they

relatively big ships so they do have some restrictions on where they can go so I would first of all look at that the

second thing then it entirely really depends on uh where you wanted to leave from so the Rotterdam I'm guessing was

probably going from Rotterdam uh these days because it won't be allowed into Amsterdam anymore so I'm guessing it

probably goes from Rotterdam queenan of course will be going out of Southampton so that's the second consideration where do you want to go from and then thirdly

it's really down to experience so Queen an will obviously be a q not experience so you will have more uh you know on the

for there will be more you more expectation to dress up more requirement

to dress up more men will be wearing the full tuxedo bow tie obviously you can

get away with the suit and tie but it will be more dressy home in America even

on the dressing nights you don't have to necessar wear a jacket for example it'll be a little bit more relaxed Queen Anne

will have more enrichment lectures um the entertainment side will probably be

a little bit better uh than Rotterdam Rotterdam is hles are

evolving that Rotterdam will have a little bit more live music they still have most of the uh music walk venues

what was your favorite port on the group cruise I took my first cruise through New England into Canada last year I was

so impressed with ports so you're right phas I mean I think probably my favorite Port was Quebec uh partly we had a

gorgeous day we had an overnight there the day was absolutely gorgeous um you know as you probably know if you've been

there uh you can walk into the old town and other walk up to the newer town the new and Ro coms town uh beautiful uh you

know such a beautiful city really been beautifully sort of restored and updated

um it really was fantastic um that was probably my favorite Port I think um you

you know Charlotte Tana didn't really explore it was a terrible day I think a lot of people though thought that was probably one of the highlights I also

really liked Portland I hadn't really done much I had unlike I would normally do before I'm go on a cruise I hadn't

really researched the ports as much as I normally would do because I was much more sort of focused on on the group and

making the group happen and stuff with hind side I realized I probably could have done more in the ports but um so I

hadn't researched them so I didn't really expect much on Portland and I had a great day we had a beautiful day in

Portland and actually just wandering around exploring there was a little train that went the little narrow gaau

train so I thought Portland was really quite magical I actually bumped into a few people there that follow the channel

and had some good chats about uh about Portland uh so Chris here was Chris is here which is great looking forward to

stuff in so we did have a thought on this special dining because we're wondering whether and I don't know the

answer this this thing we were wondering is whether they're going to cap the amount of the princess pre pre Premier I

think it's called which is they have princess plus and Princess premier because the if everybody on the ship has

uh that Premium premere plan you know would is it going to become a real problem finding your specialty dining

reservations so certainly seems the best package for me um for porn Carol's group

crw I've got two Princess Cruises next year I've got in May born carols grp cruise on Sky princess which actually

now I don't know whether where you're from but if you're the only International lines if you like your other option is virgin virgin voyages

also like a viking is 18 and older so that's your only guaranteed childfree

Cruise pretty much anyone can book no matter where you're based so that's your main option so definitely they are

significantly less expensive than Viking because of course they go from inside cabins at solo cabins you know balconies

through to big expensive suweet so you can then uh you know play around with your budget they are premium price so

they're sort of the same price as celebrity holl in America Princess um but they do all the foods included uh

very good food with the exception of afternoon tea um but all the foods included and they have things like drinks packages now if you're from the

UK um there are a couple of other options uh which is uh

Ambassador uh murel has a adult only ship as well uh Saga obviously for the

over 50s it t tend to be a little bit older and puno cruises has two ships the Arcadia and the Aurora which also are

adult only they're olders ships so there is there is those options as well they tend to be quite difficult if you're non

reality um if you do go to the bigger ports like Bergen uh or Tanga often look

there's not really one particular line it's more complicated than that it's more around being on the lookout for

solo deals so I sign up all the cruise lines I'm interested in I sign up for their emails I make sure that my travel

agent travel agent knows that I'm looking for solar deals so you know on the lookout for those that's the best

thing so you know often you know I even went when I went to kimbery my recent

Seaborn kimbery Expedition Cruise you know that was a 25% solar supplement they've just launched some recently on

crystal even with 5% solar supplement so a lot of it's around waiting and playing

those solar deals there are some cruise lines like Norwegian which Embraces solos much more they have the solo

Studios introduc more solar cabins with uh which aren't just inside cabins as well so

norwegian's always a good starting place but it's a little bit more complex than than that and it does take a bit of

playing around there are some sites will often pull solar deals together so Vacations To Go has a little solo tab

which is quite good if you're in the UK R Cruisers does um but mostly it's around looking for solo deals so have a
