How big Is the Universe
Dec 29, 2023
The universe is a vast and mysterious place that contains everything that exists. It is so big that we cannot see its edge, if there is one. The part of the universe that we can observe with our instruments is called the observable universe, and it is estimated to be about 93 billion light-years in diameter. A light-year is the distance that light travels in one year, which is about 9 trillion kilometers or 6 trillion miles. To put this in perspective, the Sun, which is the nearest star to us, is about 150 million kilometers or 93 million miles away, and it takes light about 8 minutes to reach us from there. The farthest object that we have detected so far is a galaxy called GN-z11, which is about 13.4 billion light-years away, and we see it as it was when the universe was only 400 million years old. The universe is also expanding, which means that the space between galaxies is stretching and the distances are increasing. The rate of expansion is faster than the speed of light, so some parts of the universe are moving away from us so fast that we will never be able to see them. The size of the entire universe, beyond what we can observe, is unknown. Some scientists think that it could be infinite, or that there could be multiple universes with different physical laws and properties.#How big is the universe#documentary history channel#history and science#history channel documentaries#history channel full episodes#history channel shows#history documentary#history shows#history the universe#space documentaries#the history channel#the universe clips#the universe episode clips#the universe episode scenes
