Rapala X-Rap Xtreme Action Slashbait Lure Review - Live Review - Watch The Action
Jul 19, 2022
In this video I reviewed the Rapala X-Rap Xtreme Action Slashbait. You can also see more detailed information here https://fishingatwork.com/rapala-x-rap-xtreme-action-slashbait-lure-review/
I purchased this lure while in Jupiter, Florida fishing on vacation. When you are on vacation I believe it is very important to get some fishing in. Even if you have to rent a fishing rod or buy one. You are supposed to have a vacation too right?
The X-Rap is a very good minnow type lure, but it apparently is very good at mimicing bigger baitfish in the ocean. The school of menhaden that go along the shoreline can be huge and when a small and slow baitfish gets caught outside of the school it gets eaten!
I just spent some time talking about it's general use and show you what it looks like when moving through the water. The term slashbait means that the jerking action has less resistance. Therefore, when you pull it the lure goes really far and makes a rolling action instead of the side to side of a jerkbait or stickbait.
If you have been wondering how you can upgrade your rapala minnow from the old days this is the minnow lure for you.

Hello, Underwhitenhorse of www.officialofwork.com. Today we're going to review the Rapula X-Wrap
0:07
Extreme Action Slash Bait. Stay tuned. Now I wanted to go over this particular type of Rapula minnow because I am a big fan of Rapula and
0:27
And when I was down in Florida, in Jupiter, Florida, I wanted to get something that kind of mimicked the Manhattan that usually goes through there
0:37
And this was advised by me by one of the reps in the fishing center that I went to
0:44
The really cool thing about it is that it has a little red and sparkly end to it
0:54
Now the reason for this is that it needs to look like a wounded bait fish
0:59
When a school of menhaden or really any bait fish for any type of fish including bass and all the other freshwater things
1:06
you have to let the fish know that this is going to be an easier bait to catch
1:13
Now as you see this, this is a pretty small thing. It's about two and a half, three inches at the most
1:18
It has smaller treble hooks and this is a different type of jerkbait
1:24
By Rapplers of regards, they like to call it a slashbait because you're supposed to jerk it wildly and it doesn't wobble but too much
1:32
But it's actually a suspension crankbait and it has rattles in there
1:38
If you look very closely at the bottom, right there, you see that little black dot in the white part of the bottom
1:44
that is one of the i believe there's one or two bbs in there that make that sound sorry for the wind
1:52
you know it's a windy day it's freaking freezing but i gotta do my thing here and the the right at
1:59
the end is supposed to signify it's bleeding now if you could knock this thing into a piece of wood
2:04
or something would be great but this is not a square bill or anything crankbait and you can't
2:08
really like knock into stuff it will get caught including on you i keep poking myself in my crank
2:13
rates lately. It has the patented blackhead because the fish are looking down and they can't see it
2:18
and the white bottom just like any other minnow or minnay, so it's really good for that
2:22
So it also has the red lid, so in case they're bleeding from the other direction, they think it's bleeding on that side either
2:32
So let's go over some of the specs in the box. Obviously I spent $11.50 for it, maybe I overspent, maybe I didn't
2:41
I believe we can get cheaper now that everything is on sale at like grass pro shops and other places
2:45
because they're trying to get people in there so get some deals right now particularly in this it
2:50
will not cost you $1.50 anymore. I think I got this two years ago
2:57
Also you look at the side here it says extreme slash bait top and at the bottom it's adrenaline
3:04
pumping long casting because it has weight in it it's a little heavier than a normal minnow
3:09
It's also a suspension minnow. Now when I said that earlier, you probably have used the suspension minnow before and
3:19
you're like, oh I know how that works. But this one's a little different. When it hits the suspension level just a couple feet it actually wobbles like this It just a light wobble like that And that kind of the same thing that happens when you hit a crankbait against a rod I mean against a stump or a log and you pause for a second and it wobbles for a little bit
3:41
It smashes and you're staying up because of the wind and you're talking. But yeah, that actually will start bites. That little bit of pause, that little bit of wiggle
3:52
right at the suspension level and hopefully you're using the spade because you know that's
3:58
where the bass are that's the depth that they're you know suspending that
4:06
so this is the silver version silver and on the back it says something interesting
4:14
the integrated long casting system partners with an air system rattle and classical
4:19
plastic Rappler action. It suspends and comes to a roll at rest to trigger the bike. Then
4:26
it says in the French. I'll let you read that. Pause the video, read it, read everything
4:36
else. It came in here originally and it has a silver background that makes it look extra
4:42
sparkly. You know, we like shiny things. You're like, oh, Rappler looks good. I could
4:49
get a set of Rapplers and just hang them on the wall and just look at them like a fish
4:54
That looks tasty. So let's stop chatting and get out here and see what happens with this Rappler X-Rap
5:19
The water is really cold and it's moving very fast
5:32
So it's a little rough and I know there's some logs down here that I might get hung on
5:40
and it'll probably make me really angry. But that happens, it'll be an early show
6:19
So I'm actually hitting the bottom here
6:41
It's a little shallow. At least the logs that used to be sitting here maybe have blown away
6:45
So let's take a look at the action of this bait. The water is moving a little fast, but I wanted to show you just a little bit of the action in the water here
6:56
I have an underwater camera Watch it jerk you can see the wobble from side to side You can see it sinks pretty regularly
7:07
Pretty quickly. The water wasn't moving so much. Let's do a little shower
7:19
See that? That little darting action with the red tail is like a blood trail
7:33
Man, man. I'm gonna fish here a blood trail. Awesome. Man, as you can see it's burning, aren't they
7:43
And my hands are about to freeze, so I'm gonna make this short
7:49
Just for your viewing pleasure, you can watch me fish for a little bit if that's what you like to do
7:54
Pretty sure it's not going to catch anything out here. Current's too strong just like when I was in the last review that I put out
8:05
And it's super cold and it's super windy. Now we all know fishmen don't like too much wind
8:13
It really hurts your casting. It hurts positioning your boat. It just overall stops
8:20
It moves the water radically and the fish don't wipe it too much underneath even though they're slightly protective
8:30
So I'll have another video and maybe some solutions about that once I can work this out
8:37
So, give myself a gandy. Oh, the sun wants to come out now. Great
8:44
And the crane just flew away. I love it when I hit the ground and I think it's a bike
9:24
But then it's not. Oh. The grass is failing. Every now and again I'll get really lucky and a yellow perch will be super aggressive and attack my mass sized oars
10:27
They really they not like bluegills but just bigger mounts and they bite it man They bite it if it the same size I don know what wrong with it but I wouldn mind one of those right now
10:39
Point of yellow perch out here. And there's some white perch too, but they don't usually go this deep into the river
10:45
We're in Watertown right now. I'm popping up my glasses. I can't see a dang thing
11:56
So guys, I'm going to cut it off right here
12:16
This is the end of the review slash fishing session with the Rapala XRAP in the Charles
