Off The Case - Judge In Trump Trial Blindsided

He just got blindsided with some tragic legal news. Before we get started, please make sure

you have if you're an American with a television set, or the internet for that matter, you know

Judge Juan Mershon has been, well, deeply criticized by Trump and Republicans because he seems very

conflicted in this case. And you know that his daughter, Lauren Mershon, works for a company

that does campaign work for Democrats, makes them millions of dollars. Now those Democrats

they campaign off the Trump trial. Ergo, the more legal trouble that Donald Trump is in, well, the

better their campaigns go and the more money the judge's daughter makes. Are you starting to see

the conflict of interest issue here, if you haven't already? Okay, well now there's been an ethics

complaint filed against the judge. And this is big, this is huge for a judge. It could take him off the

case. It could put this entire case in jeopardy. And if it doesn't take him off the case, well, it's

certainly going to be used on appeal. We're talking about a situation that should have never happened

to begin with. He should have recused from day one, knowing what his daughter does for a living

This is a first degree, not a six degrees of separation. This is a first degree of separation

judge to daughter. There's no getting around that as much as the judge tries to pretend he can be

like, share and subscribe. The New York State Supreme Court, Brian. Harris, well, speaking of Judge Mershon, basically, you know, the House Republican

conference chair, Elise Stefanik has formally filed an ethics complaint with the New York State

Commission on Judiciary Conduct. And that complaint alleges that Judge Juan Mershon

should recuse himself because he has a conflict of interest because his daughter

serves as president of a group that represents Democratic Party politicians and political action

committees. That same commission, by the way, dismissed a prior complaint against Judge Mershon

for donating $35 to Democrats. Nonetheless, New York Congresswoman Stefanik, a possible Trump VP

pick, argues that a guilty verdict in this case under Judge Mershon will lead to millions more

fundraising dollars for Democrats benefiting Mershon's daughter's organization. The complaint reads in part, given Judge Mershon's daughter's clientele and the vast sums of money that these

individuals have raised and will continue to raise off of President Trump's charges
