2:26
Evolution Jay Allen hey hey thank you for joining me here this is um
2:34
the new launch or the new format of our podcast where we're going to be focusing on um veterans and minority owned
2:41
businesses um and your success and how we believe that AI can effect um
2:49
effectively enhance your productivity um and provide a couple of
2:56
suggestions along the way but the most important thing that I want to highlight today is you and your unique uh brand um
3:07
you as an individual um but let's start off
3:12
from how did gangster Hol holistic come
3:17
about okay well first of all thank you for having me on your show uh Mr no
3:24
Woods you know happy to be here um so basically gangster holistic first
3:32
of all it's a health and wellness Corporation and uh the whole way that it
3:39
got started was for me in 2016 I went through some severe health
3:45
issues that kind of catapulted me into doing what I'm doing today so basically
3:51
in 2016 uh late 2016 I was I think it was like in maybe uh late October
4:00
I was uh I was having some different complications and um I was I ended up
4:07
going to the emergency room and I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure
4:12
uh chronic kidney disease and of course I had high blood pressure attached to that um I stayed in the hospital for
4:22
about a couple weeks you know them running test and doing all kind of different things to get me back up to
4:30
far and uh when I left the hospital um you know I was on different
4:36
medications and things like that now I used to also host a show years ago maybe
4:41
three three or four years ago online radio called the Jay Allen Show and on that show we would have a lot of
4:50
different uh conscious brothers and sisters that some of them dealt with
4:55
health so I knew there was the herbal side to of the holistic side to Medicine
5:01
um and then you know with me coming out of the hospital then having me on all
5:07
these different medications I think I was on like four or five different medications I just knew there was a
5:12
better way for me and that was something that I didn't want to I didn't want that to be part of my
5:19
story for long term because of course we know that all that stuff come from side effects and things like that so I was
5:25
looking for a natural way to um to pretty much kind of K myself at that
5:31
time I was seeing three doctors my primary care my cardiologist and my
5:38
kidney specialist and um basically I started just scouring the
5:45
internet for different uh natural products different herbs and I came
5:52
across black seed oil right black seed oil and it just it really changed my
5:58
life it wasn't just black seed oil but it was a total change of Lifestyle as far as me changing my diet staying more
6:07
active and of course taking these necessary herbs and things like that it wasn't just black seed oil but black
6:14
seed oil played a significant part in my healing and that's why I'm a strong
6:20
advocate for black seed oil so after after about 3 to six months going back
6:26
to my doctors I completely reversed my all my situations the congestive heart
6:32
failure my ejection fraction on my heart was at a normal range uh my kidneys were
6:39
functioning optimally um so basically I turned my my situation around with using
6:46
these herbs so the one thing I told myself I said well hey man how how can
6:52
I how can I actually make this into my livelihood that's what I asked myself at
6:58
that time at that time I was working at I was working at a hospital at that time
7:03
and actually at that time that was one of the if you would you know asking me that
7:10
was one of the lowest points of my life I had to take a job as a janitor at a hospital and it was just a it was just a
7:18
degrading job I can't I can't say too much more about it it no trust me I
7:24
understand I've done a lot to make money so so you know I said well man what can
7:30
I do so the first thing I did is I wrote a book I wrote a book called Gangster holistic versus volume one it was a
7:38
comedic type of book that had a play on
7:43
different herbal supplements and things like that it was really different but it was really simple I you know I got that
7:50
book published it I self-published the book whatever add it for sale on Amazon
7:56
and then after that I just kind of Dove head first into uh Gangsta holistic you know and
8:03
when I first started gangster holistic it was more so about the holistic
8:09
lifestyle and I did that for about maybe six to eight months and then
8:14
I told myself I need to Niche Niche down into a specific topic I don't want to
8:19
talk about everything holistic I want to so basically what I started focusing on was What affected me which was the high
8:27
blood pressure the kidney issues the heart issues so I labeled myself a high
8:32
blood pressure consultant and that's pretty much how the whole company came
8:38
into play I I was also able to so back in the day when I had the Jay Allen Show
8:43
I also had a co-host um who was my co-host her name was Dr Londa Ward out
8:50
of Atlanta a young lady I went to school with back in high school and uh I was
8:55
talking to her I said you know what I said man I would really would like to sell my own black seed or you know heal
9:01
me I would like to sell my own she said well Jay she said we had now she's a naturopathic chiropractor so she said
9:09
well Jay we have an herbalist that supplies a lot of our products she said
9:14
you should talk to him and she said I think he'd be able to help you and so she gave me his number and long story
9:21
short me and him has been pretty much business partners for the last four years so and that's how I came out with
9:28
my first product which was we call it the black seed experience which is my black seed oil and that's pretty much
9:36
how the first part of you know the things that I sell was
9:41
birth wow um I'm just amazed at well not
9:48
amazed uh at how you got here but the why right
9:54
yeah you are one of the most creative individuals I've ever known uh but but
10:00
yes but the wheel right the will to change your situation I hear this
10:05
screaming out um and just to share with the audience I've met you over 20 years ago you were producing music right and
10:14
so you you are a very creative individual but but you're a genuine
10:21
individual gangster holistic when you first funny not to cut you off Noble but you know it's it's so funny because I
10:27
feel like back then in the year 2000 were doing
10:33
music right I feel like a lot of those things I still Implement them today in
10:40
what I do because I'm a one man B so I do all the editing you know all of the
10:46
the music I do everything so it's just like it's still part of what I use today you know what I mean and that's why I
10:54
was so interested in getting you on the platform because um there are so many
10:59
solo preneurs now right and with the Advent of AI and and and its advances
11:06
over the last two years a lot of Industries have been affected especially in SEO and search right um they've been
11:14
affected NE negatively but for solopreneurs this has been you know a a
11:19
godsend you think about as a content creator um when you want to create that
11:24
omnience and that you know no like and Trust uh on several different
11:32
platforms you are now enable to produce this continuity across these platforms
11:39
without spending so much time right where you can leverage your time doing other things and that's that's where I
11:47
wanted to touch on when you talk about e-commerce so uh a mutual friend of ours
11:54
Steve Graham and I we were in business and and and working in a clothing brand
12:01
a couple of years ago when I first started the the marketing agency and and what you were doing at that time was way
12:08
ahead of what we were doing uh when it came to branding so what is the difference from
12:17
2021 um of how you create content and how you distribute it to
12:23
2024 what do you see as changing in you in in your processes um that have came
12:30
about during this this period well I would say um you saying 20 you saying
12:38
from the year 2000 no 2021 because yeah right oh okay okay you
12:45
know in the recent history right of okay I I've been watching your content and
12:51
how it's changed the graphics um we all evolve right in business we we learn we
12:57
we like more better so you're on different platforms but your branding has changed how you create
13:05
your logos and how you incorporate in your shorts uh I see the the different
13:11
aspects of of your creativity in that well what and
13:17
how um do you create that new content what what are some of the apps you use
13:26
then so so one of my main things man is just really to stay very consistent you
13:33
know always I mean that's if you're on social media you have e-commerce business you gotta be seen like every
13:41
day every day multiple times a day know and it's just like as we go on
13:49
the technology is getting greater and greater so for instance you know back
13:54
back in 2021 there were not a lot of AI systems in place and things like that so
14:01
I come from the era to where let's say on Sunday if I say you know what so this
14:07
is the kind of guy I was I would say on Sunday I would say you know what I would
14:13
grab about 15 20 shirts on my closet I would
14:18
lay them on the bed I would get my camera ready and I said okay I at least
14:24
want to put out three posts a day that's about 90 reals so I would write down 90
14:32
topics that I know I could just speak on like that and I would actually sit there
14:37
and record 90 reals but the thing but
14:42
but the thing but the thing about it is after you record those reals and when
14:48
you want to put those reals up on social media they have to have a copy attached to them right right so I was writing
14:56
that guy that's a lot of work exactly no I understand versus nowadays you have
15:04
different AI systems one of them ispt where you can actually have it writ your
15:10
copy for you you know which saves a bunch of time right oh yeah adding the
15:16
Emojis the little rockets and bursting bombs and the whole n yards right right
15:22
and also they have like um they have there's a there's a app
15:27
that I use called Big View big view is pretty much like let's say if I write out a copy I can paste it on
15:35
the big View and it's like a teleprompter you can speed it up you can slow it down and even when you're
15:41
reading it it has an AI system that if you're looking this way it can focus
15:46
your eyes to where it's looking straight at the camera so like all of these different
15:52
things um and then you have uh op. a
15:57
where it can take like let's say you do a live that's an hour two hours long you
16:03
can put it into that system it'll chop it up it can chop it up into shorts you can chop it up into you can decide a 30
16:10
second clip a minute and 30 second clip a minute clip so all of these things are things that you know we really got to
16:17
take advantage of um even even as well as like um they used to have Facebook
16:23
creative Studio but same thing meta Suite you know metu to where you schedu your post and things like that so all of
16:30
these things make it a lot easier I mean for someone who really wanted to do
16:36
content creation now is the time to do it because I come from the era
16:42
where you had to hustle like you had there was no it was no shorts it was no
16:48
AI systems you had to do it all yourself you understand what I'm saying no no
16:53
I've heard this story a million times the quick wardrobe changes the I mean
16:59
just the the work um behind create creating the you know the text and
17:05
things of that nature I just for me I am in awe of not only the impr
17:13
Improvement in the quality but the efficiency of how I I admire those in
17:21
e-commerce because I come from for sales background right you have to you know
17:26
it's that the 1081 rule 10% of the people they're going to
17:31
be a lay down and 10% of the people are going to hate you if you were giving away 20s for $5 they wouldn't buy it
17:39
from you right but then it's that 80% you know how do you reach them how do you reach them where they're at I I just
17:46
um I admire you for one you you don't
17:51
have a Persona you have a a brand that that shows your true you you are one of
17:57
the most authentic gentleman I've ever met in my life you know and and very
18:03
creative so and it comes through in everything that you do I just remember the first conversation we had uh I think
18:10
about late late 2020 or early 2021 when we were struggling I had the
18:18
fledgling um digital marketing agency but the the B of the business was
18:23
focusing on the brand and you was just like look I can't I can't continue to
18:30
tell you guys the same things over and over again there are there are certain truths in e-commerce that you're gonna
18:37
have to follow right and then then you were just like hey you know Instagram is the future you need to be on the ground
18:45
and you need to put these other things aside and focus and and for me I'm
18:50
always multi- Channel if I can if I can reach somebody you know in Instagram I
18:55
know I can get to them on Tik Tok because the platforms are similar right but you had always um you knew how to
19:04
focus and to reach your audience how to Niche down you it I mean for for me you
19:10
were just ahead of your time but and and you always held those truths um which a
19:16
guest prior to you always said marketing is always going to be the same no matter what these tools are right you got you
19:24
gotta separate yourself I I I I really believe that
19:29
I talk to a lot of people who want to get involved in they want to
19:36
sell something over the internet but and I think that most most people when I talk to him their major problem is they
19:46
overthink things way too much you know what I mean way wayo so so this is what
19:52
I mean I mean I had a meeting with a young lady about a couple weeks ago a friend of
19:59
mine want to get started with something she was doing and she's like okay well okay well before I get started I need to
20:06
go out I need to save up I need to buy this type of camera I'm like don't you have an iPhone right no but I use the
20:13
iPhone I need I said you're over you're overthinking this it's like you so you
20:20
just you put it out there and you just learn as you go you can make changes as
20:27
you go but most part if you look at some people there are some people on the
20:32
internet who they're they're um I mean they might
20:38
be they might everybody shoots with their iPhone so a lot of people shoot their
20:44
iPhone I shoot with my iPhone so it's like when you shoot with when you shoot with your iPhone or whatever it is that
20:50
you have that may not be a camera it's like so what is all they want is consistency you know what I'm saying all
20:57
they so your page AG is like it's like a TV channel okay so if I'm watching TV if
21:04
I'm turn my T TV on right now today is Tuesday I don't want to turn my TV on
21:10
Tuesday and see what I was on there Sunday it's same thing Sunday it needs
21:16
to keep changing it needs to keep right and the beautiful thing about making
21:22
content and steadily creating content is once once you do it so much then the
21:31
beautiful part comes in there to where you can start to repost content I repost
21:36
a lot of content because when you put your content out there only a certain percentage of your audience sees it you
21:43
know what I mean so it's like you can continue to repost certain things and
21:49
stuff like that but I mean I can't stress consistency enough
21:55
man let me ask you this um everybody says the Holy Grail is um love what you
22:03
do and do what you love that's that's where we all want to be with Gangster
22:08
holistic this this was your story right is this what you really love doing what
22:15
you do now because we were talking about being a Janet I work at a warehouse you know is is could you do this all the
22:22
time because people say when you're into content creation it gets old and hard hard as
22:28
you go along if it's not a labor of love can you expound on that what I do and my
22:37
satisfaction is when I had these consultations with people and they tell me Chay I've been following your page
22:43
for a while and I healed myself for this or my situation changed because I
22:48
watched that video where you said do this and I did it and so that's satisfaction that's gratifying to me but
22:55
I will say this are have there have been times where I'm just like totally
23:01
exhausted hell yeah okay that's what I'm saying you
23:09
authentic brother man just tell it like it like it is right um it's work you
23:14
know what I'm saying it's works so it's just like there have been times where I get
23:20
totally exhausted now I will say this um I'm at the point now to
23:29
where I want to transfer into doing ganger holistic a different way so if it
23:35
was up to me when I first started I wouldn't have actually sell sold any
23:41
physical products okay you know it's a lot of work I don't package my own products I have somebody that does that
23:48
but we have to understand when you do have physical products you know you have overhead that comes with that so I
23:54
suggest people whenever someone comes to me with any type of idea anything they want to sell I always tell
24:02
them you need to transfer that into a digital product whether you want to whether you want to teach somebody how
24:08
to do it or something like that because it's a lot easier it's a lot easier there's not
24:16
pretty much no overhead to it and it's just like I know for me I don't want to
24:21
be creating post and doing it like that for the rest of my life with gang
24:27
holistic I don't my goal right now here is to get into uh
24:33
the high schools go and teach my message there get a contract as a vendor with
24:38
some of these uh school districts and things like that as well as speaking at different companies that um that dive
24:45
into health and wellness for their uh employees and things like that that's
24:50
where I want to go I want to do more speaking engagements you know what I mean versus me being on the internet
24:58
um because it's it's it's a lot of work it is okay it is it is a lot of work so
25:04
as as you shift gears uh I admire that right because I've been a total reuse
25:11
for the last couple of years as you can see I'm just totally um relegated to being online but getting out doing
25:18
speaking engagements that's I mean that's what you're you're meant to be on the stage I I know you from those days
25:26
and and that is something that I could really see you doing um forever like a
25:32
Dick Gregory right passing on that knowledge um giving given a piece of
25:37
your story to to impart that wisdom upon you know any age group to take with them
25:44
you know I could see that being very edifying for you yeah um as we move
25:50
along and coming to the end of this conversation I have to ask you um like I
25:57
have all my previous guest uh are you into Star Wars or Star
26:03
Trek wh which side are you on um I don't watch any of
26:10
them I've never oh my God you just cred my
26:16
viewership so you don't watch any sci-fi whatsoever okay you are G the holistic
26:23
is very realistic I used to tell people that you
26:28
know when when people talk about you know uh being afraid of the dark and stuff like that I was like look I grew
26:34
up in Chicago when I reached a certain age right people scared me more than uh
26:41
Freddy Krueger J Jason Bloody Mary any of that stuff you know um right keeping
26:47
it real but I'm a nerd at heart um I had to ask you that um but but for me right
26:55
now as as we're talking about uh
27:00
this this content or Creator uh economy
27:05
right and we're saying that the the the actual commodity has to be uh either
27:11
digital or physical right as you're move how do you segue out of you know the black seed
27:20
experience people are always going to want that from you right do you sell that off um what do you do with Gaya
27:27
holistic move hon with you right now that uh that's a great question because
27:35
even along with the blackseed oil we have some very popular products man that
27:40
people just they just buy a ton of it man you know
27:47
and I don't know I don't know but you know what I'm gonna be honest with you it might I mean as far as it might be
27:54
something that goes on I just don't want to have to promoted as much as I do you know what I
28:01
mean I don't want I don't want so so right now as far as me selling uh
28:06
physical products that's my livelihood right when I can my livelihood more over
28:12
to the digital presence then whether or not the black you those sales that's
28:18
perfectly fine you know what I mean so yeah so that's my that's pretty much
28:25
my goal man I mean because I mean black seed oil man is just it's really a part
28:31
of me man I'm a strong advocate for black seed
28:36
oil if there was one herb that you could take for the rest of your life it's it
28:42
should be black seedo it's the Beast of all herbs and I say that not because I sell it I say it because it has so many
28:50
different benefits to it so many different benefit okay okay okay yeah
28:58
well I'm going to have to drop your links uh down in the bottom of uh our
29:03
description so people can check out gangster holistic that Mega brand that so many
29:10
count on uh for for for their health and wellness um Jay is there anything that
29:18
you want to impart uh to our audience to your audience which I hope we get
29:24
cross-pollinate somehow uh before we go any anything that you you'd like
29:31
to to pass on about the way things are changing and evolving with
29:39
technology um I would just say you know right now is the time to get on that
29:46
wave I mean it's the time to get on that wave whether you learning in AI for
29:53
yourself to advance your own business or whether you learn in AI to to
30:00
possibly go and work for another business like have businesses High you
30:05
so you can kind of grow their businesses and things like that it's the perfect time to do it
30:11
because this stuff is it's not as hard and complicated as a lot of you may
30:18
think it is it's really not you know um and I think with a little bit of time
30:24
and I think with a little bit of effort that anybody can do it you know and like I said there there are a there are AI
30:31
systems that and I'm not even playing with you you probably can vouch for this as well there are AI systems that can do
30:38
pretty much anything that you can think of defin right definitely and a lot of
30:44
them have been around and people have known about them you know um with the utilization of apis and zapier and
30:52
things of that nature so thank you very much that is
30:59
so one last thing I want to say to the people out there is if you're a person you want to start your own business
31:05
you're working a job take some time out when you get home work on your own game
31:12
a little just a quick story about me it's like I'm 47 years old I didn't truly
31:19
figure out life until my early 40s okay I was a person I was living in
31:26
a studio apartment I was making little to no money I had my daughter to take care of um I always
31:33
knew I wanted to do something on the Internet I just never knew how to monetize it even before gangster
31:39
holistic I ran a ran a platform on Facebook where I had and this is where
31:45
this is when we had no advertising I had 276,000 followers on uh a page that I

ran on Facebook this is just through hard work and just posting information so
31:58
if I can do it and turn that into something um something special then then
32:06
you can too and and I and if I can Noble I like to end when I do my lives on
32:13
Instagram I like to I like to uh end it with an affirmation if you would allow
32:19
me to do it I would be more than of course okay so it goes like this I call
32:26
it the gangster holistic old to self and if you want to listen to this you can rewind it back you know and come to the
32:33
end of the thing and say it for yourself so it goes like this with each gift that is bestowed upon me allow me to hold on
32:40
to gratitude my mind is in control of my body my feet are planted in the
32:46
overabundant waters of prosperity shower me with selflessness
32:52
balance me with an ultimate love for myself ensure my mind stays intact
32:57
holding on to all knowledge I've acquire as well as the humility to admit when I
33:03
do not know my thirst for something new is satisfied never concerned with
33:10
the opinions of others I am a part of that spark that changes the World by
33:17
