hi it's Lindsay Diane from Diane
0:04
decor.com today let's talk about
0:06
inexpensive decorating ideas for kids
0:09
bedrooms decorating kids bedrooms is a
0:13
little bit tricky because there are some
0:14
things that you want to spend the money
0:16
on that you know are going to last and
0:19
carry them through the years and then
0:21
there are other things that it is not
0:23
worth spending much on at all especially
0:26
with how fast they're developing and
0:29
changing their tastes and ideas of
0:32
what's cool change from month to month
0:36
never mind from year to year so in this
0:39
video let's talk about 11
0:42
inexpensive kids decor items that are
0:46
great for decorating a kid's room but
0:48
you don't have to spend a lot of money
0:50
on it and you won't be upset if you have
0:52
to change it three months from now over
0:54
the years I've found the best way to
0:56
decorate a kid's bedroom is to invest in
0:59
good Furniture that's going to last year
1:00
years and years and years and just save
1:03
the money on the little decorative
1:05
accessories so one of the best
1:08
investments that we ever made was buying
1:10
one of the Delta children four in one
1:13
convertible cribs it went from like a
1:15
crib to a toddler bed to a day bed to a
1:19
full-size bed it was fantastic and you
1:24
know the dressers nightstands things
1:26
like that that are going to be good
1:28
quality and hold up for years and years
1:31
are worth spending the money on now the
1:34
little things like the comforter sets
1:37
and the decorative pillows and the tents
1:40
and the wall decals and stickers you can
1:44
definitely save money on they're great
1:46
for switching up a bedroom and I'm going
1:48
to talk about the things that I've had
1:50
experience with that are inexpensive
1:52
that are great for decorating a kid's
1:54
bedroom but that are okay if you want to
1:58
switch them out three months from now
2:00
number number one is wall decals they
2:04
come in all different shapes and sizes
2:05
but particularly the large wall decals
2:08
are really great you can get them for 20
2:11
bucks 30 bucks and have a whole animal
2:14
scene that you can put up on your wall
2:17
and it just looks beautiful and it's a
2:20
great way to decorate a large blank wall
2:23
they're easy to peel off you can change
2:27
them up you can rearrange them maybe
2:28
once or twice before they start to lose
2:30
their stickiness but there are great
2:33
inexpensive way to decorate a kid's
2:35
bedroom string lights are another great
2:37
touch to decorate kids bedroom the bulbs
2:40
come in a lot of different sizes you can
2:42
have the small little fairy lights that
2:44
you can put on a bookshelf or some
2:47
larger lights that you can hang over a
2:49
tent they just make the room seem a
2:52
little bit magical and they're
2:54
inexpensive super super cheap you can
2:57
get them on Amazon Walmart Target pretty
3:01
much anywhere Dollar Tree you can find
3:03
little string lights for a dollar 25 and
3:07
you can string them up they're battery
3:08
operated you can put them to decorate a
3:11
shell for the top of a dresser they're
3:13
fantastic and you won't be sad when they
3:17
die out on you after year number three
3:19
is area rugs we all know area rugs come
3:23
in a ton of different shapes and sizes
3:25
and price points a kid's bedroom is not
3:29
the place to spend 300 on an area rug
3:33
they are going to spill something on it
3:35
there's gonna get Play-Doh and slime and
3:39
things like that stuck in it but they
3:41
are a fantastic decorative element so
3:45
what I would say is just go for the
3:46
cheaper things go for the faux fur
3:50
that's not super great quality but it's
3:53
fun and it's soft for kids to lay on or
3:55
something that's going to add a lot of
3:58
beautiful colors into an otherwise
4:00
neutral room
4:02
those inexpensive area rugs that are
4:05
under a hundred dollars that are smaller
4:07
you can have them under your tent you
4:09
can have them just under the bed or to
4:11
just create a little reading zone or
4:13
reading Nook for your kids look at the
4:15
smallest size possible they'll still
4:17
have a really great impact and you'll
4:18
save a lot of money number four is
4:20
curtains in addition to just framing out
4:23
your windows and giving you a little bit
4:24
of privacy there are great wall decor
4:28
element you can carry over colors from
4:31
an area rug or from your wall decal
4:35
mural and carry it on to another wall or
4:38
you can add that nice texture that you
4:42
have on your bedding and pull it onto
4:45
the wall and create a nice cohesive look
4:47
they're inexpensive you can switch them
4:50
out easily odds are in a kid's room
4:53
you're only gonna have one or two
4:54
windows anyway so it makes it an
4:56
affordable way to decorate a room number
4:59
five is bedding children's bed is just
5:03
adorable to me they come in so many
5:06
different patterns with characters
5:08
there's astronauts and unicorns and
5:11
princesses and just about anything I've
5:15
seen it and the bed really is the focal
5:18
point of the bedroom anyway so it's
5:20
great to go for something that your kids
5:23
really like let that inform the decor
5:26
for the rest of the room so if you have
5:29
jungle animals on your bedding go for
5:32
some wall decals that have some more
5:34
jungle animals on them or a jungle kind
5:37
of scene you can have some colorful
5:40
curtains add in some pillows that are
5:44
animals pillows or stuffed animals that
5:46
go along with that jungle theme and
5:48
that's all you really need they're
5:50
inexpensive twin comforter sets are
5:54
usually 30 or 40 dollars if you want to
5:56
size up to a full size maybe fifty
6:00
dollars at the most and you'll get the
6:02
comforter you'll get the sheets and the
6:04
two Shams and it's just a great first
6:08
step in decorating a kid's bedroom and
6:10
then you can just find things that match
6:13
that bed spread or that bed set to
6:16
decorate the rest of your walls and your
6:18
floors number six is wall shelves and
6:21
picture Ledges picture Ledges in
6:24
particular are a great way to display
6:27
some of your kids favorite books get
6:29
them off the floor
6:31
and have them arranged nicely where they
6:34
can reach them but they also know that
6:36
there's a designated spot for them to be
6:38
put away
6:39
and the same with wall shelves you can
6:41
have shelves that are higher up that
6:43
have some Decor that you don't
6:45
necessarily want your kid to mess with
6:47
too often but it's really great for the
6:51
room so whether they're framed pictures
6:53
or some little ceramic figurines or
6:56
things like that that are really just
6:57
meant to be decorative and not played
6:59
with you can put them higher up on some
7:01
wall shelves it's a great way to break
7:04
up some blank space on a large wall just
7:07
about anything can be used for wall art
7:09
in a kid's bedroom one of the things
7:12
that I love to do is to get some
7:14
inexpensive frames that can be from
7:16
Dollar Tree or Amazon and actually frame
7:19
my kids artwork and put them up on the
7:21
wall they always want to have their
7:23
stuff up on the fridge or mounted
7:25
someplace because they're proud of it
7:27
and what better place than to frame it
7:29
out make it look really nice and have it
7:32
up on their wall you don't have to have
7:34
framed artwork per se or wall decals or
7:38
wall stickers you can mount those little
7:41
slings that hold all their stuff to
7:42
animals along one wall or you can use
7:46
one of those little decorative ladders
7:48
to hold blankets things like that that
7:51
just sort of break up the all-white or
7:54
all beige walls that you may have on
7:56
there just to give it a little bit of
7:59
color a little bit of Dimension that's
8:01
all you really need and you don't have
8:02
to spend a lot of money again recycling
8:05
their artwork is a great option but also
8:08
just letting your walls do double duty
8:11
for storage for things like stuffed
8:13
animals or things like little figurines
8:17
or metals that they may have use those
8:19
to decorate the walls and it will save
8:22
you a lot of money pillows are another
8:24
great inexpensive way to decorate a
8:27
kid's bedroom you can find them in all
8:29
different shapes and sizes you can find
8:31
rainbow pillows and unicorn pillows they
8:34
have the Happy Nappers that are like
8:36
pillows within sleeping bags that kind
8:38
of Tuck up and they become this little
8:41
lounge pillow that they can use or they
8:44
can unsnap it and sleep in it and take a
8:46
nap they're really cute our kids love
8:48
them there's also these uh butterfly
8:52
craze pillow loungers that are super
8:55
super popular on Amazon they're
8:58
essentially pillowcases that have been
9:00
sewn together you stuff them with your
9:02
own pillows and you can fold them up and
9:04
configure them in any way that you like
9:06
and the kids love them they can lay on
9:09
the floor they can make themselves a
9:11
little chair they're fantastic so don't
9:15
underestimate the power of pillows for
9:17
Decor they're inexpensive and you can
9:20
find them anywhere
9:22
number nine is tense this little stick
9:25
TP tens or the pop-up tents are great
9:29
for a kid's room especially a little kid
9:32
that doesn't have a ton of furniture so
9:35
we used to have a pop-up tent in my
9:38
daughter's room with the little fairy
9:39
lights and things like that and that's
9:41
when she was still in the little toddler
9:43
bed and she didn't have a dresser we
9:45
kind of kept everything in a little
9:47
closet organizer in the closet but as
9:49
she got bigger that was one of the
9:51
things that we had to sacrifice because
9:52
the room isn't that big but it was
9:55
fantastic while we used it we had a
9:57
little faux fur rug that I got from Five
9:59
Below that we put at the bottom of the
10:01
tent and she used to just crawl in there
10:03
and hang out with her little books and
10:05
her stuffed animals and it was just
10:07
adorable it also makes another activity
10:10
space for them to use within their room
10:13
and it's just it's nice so whether you
10:18
want to have a pop-up Clubhouse or a
10:21
little princess TP 10 or something like
10:23
that it's a great way to fill out a
10:26
corner in a room you could also use
10:29
pillows or a little fold out bench
10:32
situation to create like a little cozy
10:34
Nook that's essentially all that the
10:36
tent does it creates a little enclosed
10:39
Nook for them to play in you can do the
10:41
same thing without the tent and it's a
10:44
great way to decorate a room
10:45
inexpensively number 10 is wallpaper
10:48
peel and stick wallpaper is readily
10:51
available
10:52
everywhere Walmart Home Depot Amazon
10:56
Target you can get peel and stick
10:58
wallpaper by far I would go with this
11:02
over a painting a room there's no sense
11:06
in painting a kid's room when their
11:08
taste is just gonna change unless you're
11:10
painting it a plain neutral color the
11:13
best way to go is to just use the peel
11:15
and stick wallpaper to change up the
11:17
theme of your room it's only going to
11:19
take you maybe 20 30 minutes to put up a
11:22
little accent wall with the peel and
11:24
stick wallpaper you can take it down in
11:26
a year when you want to refresh the room
11:29
and it's no big deal they're inexpensive
11:32
and it's a great temporary decorating
11:35
solution for a kid's bedroom
11:38
last but not least our mobiles and
11:41
projectors so of course if you have a
11:43
little one that's still in a crib a
11:46
mobile is a great way to add some extra
11:48
Decor to a room but if you have an older
11:52
kid a projector is the way to go you can
11:56
have solar system projections you can
11:59
have just stars and twinkly lights you
12:02
can have just about anything projected
12:04
on the ceiling nowadays they come in
12:07
little night lights and you can set
12:11
timers on them kids can go to sleep by
12:13
them or you can use the stuffed animals
12:16
both of my kids love these little Paw
12:19
Patrol stuffed animals that have
12:21
projectors on their back and they have a
12:24
couple of different light settings they
12:25
have stars they love them they bring
12:28
them any place we go to travel whether
12:31
it's a hotel Airbnb they take these
12:34
little Paw Patrol guys with them and
12:36
they can have their projection it can to
12:38
access a nightlight it also just creates
12:41
a beautiful decoration for them to stare
12:43
at you can put them on a timer they turn
12:45
on for 20 minutes and turn off
12:47
automatically they're fantastic and
12:50
they're super inexpensive it's a great
12:52
way to decorate a kid's room
12:54
that's it for this video I hope you
12:56
