hi it's lindsy Diane from Dian decor.com
0:04
in this video we're going to talk all
0:07
about Pinterest inspired decor and how
0:10
to use it to style your home now
0:12
Pinterest is a treasure Trove of ideas
0:16
for home decor there is so much
0:18
inspiration for interior design and
0:20
decorating there but it's very hard to
0:24
move from inspiration into something
0:27
that is a reality for you and your
0:29
family to joy in your home and so this
0:32
video is going to take care of that we
0:34
are going to talk about three different
0:37
ways that you can use Pinterest to style
0:39
your home like a pro let's get started
0:43
in this video I'm going to show you how
0:45
you can locate the items that you see on
0:47
Pinterest so that you can shop for your
0:50
home I'm also going to show you how to
0:52
create a color palette from your
0:54
favorite rooms and finally I'm going to
0:58
show you how you can create a stepbystep
1:01
action plan to complete your design to
1:04
do this we are going to use some tools
1:07
in conjunction with Pinterest in each of
1:11
these sections I'm going to show you how
1:13
to do this on a mobile device as well as
1:16
on a desktop or laptop if you would like
1:19
to skip around to any particular section
1:22
I will leave timestamps in the
1:23
description box below let's get started
1:26
with how to locate items that you see on
1:29
Pinterest to locate items that you see
1:32
on Pinterest and be able to shop them
1:35
for your home you are going to use
1:37
Pinterest in conjunction with a shopping
1:40
lens now there's Pinterest lens there's
1:43
Google lens and there's Amazon lens you
1:47
can use any one of these to help
1:50
identify the products that are inside of
1:53
a photo that has been posted to
1:55
Pinterest so that you can figure out
1:57
where they found that from you don't
1:59
have to worry about you know sometimes
2:01
on Instagram people say you know comment
2:03
and like for the link or stuff like that
2:06
you you don't have to worry about that
2:08
that's what the shopping lenses are for
2:10
you can identify just on your own
2:13
exactly where somebody got an item from
2:16
or something very very similar if it's a
2:18
one-of-a-kind item so let's start with
2:22
Pinterest on your phone and let's talk
2:25
about the Pinterest lens so when you on
2:29
the the Pinterest mobile app you can use
2:32
the Pinterest lens in two different ways
2:34
to identify products within a pin first
2:38
is that you are going to go to your feed
2:41
or you're going to go to your board and
2:42
you're going to click on the pin that
2:44
you're interested in so that it's um you
2:46
know it's blown up big and it's going to
2:48
give you the details it will tell you
2:50
the title of the pen in the description
2:51
it may give you an external link if it's
2:53
Ling to a blog or a video or something
2:55
like that but once you're on that pin
2:59
page the Pinterest lens is automatically
3:02
going to start scanning that photo for
3:05
products for you and you're going to see
3:08
those start to be listed just below the
3:10
pin so when you scroll down a little bit
3:12
you're going to start to see recommended
3:15
products or recommended shopping and
3:19
those are items that it's trying to
3:21
identify from the photo that you're
3:23
looking at now the the Pinterest lens is
3:28
not great it's it's okay but it's not gr
3:31
it's certainly not as good as the Google
3:33
Lens but it is convenient that it's
3:37
already built into Pinterest now
3:39
alternatively if you have inspiration
3:42
that is not already on Pinterest so
3:45
let's say you went to a hotel or you
3:46
went to an Airbnb and you really like
3:49
this painting on the wall or you really
3:50
like their sofa or something like that
3:53
you can take a picture of it and upload
3:56
it to the Pinterest app and then use the
4:00
Pinterest lens and to search for that
4:03
item for you so what you would do is
4:05
you're going to hit the little search
4:07
icon that's at the bottom of the app and
4:09
then you're going to click the little
4:11
camera icon to upload the photo that
4:13
you've taken again this is really great
4:16
when you're in stores that are like um
4:20
like a HomeGoods or a Marshalls and it's
4:23
hard to find some of those items other
4:25
places you can use this feature to take
4:29
a picture of of it and either find that
4:31
same thing online someplace else or find
4:34
something very similar to it if you
4:37
really want to do some serious
4:40
comparison shopping then I would say to
4:42
use the Google Lens now if you are an
4:47
Android User the Google lens is already
4:51
built in for you you don't really have
4:53
to do any additional downloading of apps
4:56
but if you're an iPhone user you're
4:58
probably going to have to download the
4:59
Google Google search as opposed to the
5:01
safari search in order to get access to
5:04
the Google Lens now if you're on Android
5:07
all you're going to do is you're going
5:08
to go into Pinterest you're going to
5:10
find the image that you like you're
5:12
going to save it to your phone then
5:14
you're going to go to your Google search
5:16
and you'll see that little camera icon
5:18
there or the uh image icon you're going
5:21
to click it upload the photo from your
5:23
phone and lens is going to go to work
5:25
it's going to have your picture on one
5:27
side and then on the right hand side
5:30
it's going to start to populate search
5:32
results just for shopping these are just
5:34
shoppable
5:36
links the best part about the Google
5:39
lens is that it's going to search far
5:41
and wide it's going to search Amazon
5:43
it's going to search Walmart and Target
5:45
and Bed Bath and Beyond and all the
5:47
stores Crate and Barrel everything it's
5:49
going to search everywhere to find that
5:50
item or something very very similar to
5:53
it now what's really great is that it's
5:56
also going to give you a little price
5:58
tag on the image as well and so this
6:01
makes comparison shopping very very easy
6:05
you can see who has the best price for
6:07
that item just in a glance which I think
6:10
is really cool now if for some reason
6:13
you only want to shop on Amazon just use
6:17
the Amazon app and use the lens feature
6:20
there so again you're going to make sure
6:22
that you've downloaded your the pin
6:24
image from Pinterest and then you're
6:26
going to open the Amazon app and in the
6:28
search bar there you're going to see the
6:29
little icon for the lens and you're
6:31
going to go ahead and click on it upload
6:33
your photo and it's going to scan your
6:34
photo and find all of the items on
6:38
Amazon that look like the items in the
6:41
photo just like with the Google Lens
6:44
you're going to have a little crop
6:46
window that you can adjust so that you
6:48
can narrow into one particular item
6:50
within the
6:51
photo the Amazon lens feature is only
6:55
for the mobile app you won't be able to
6:57
use that on the desktop so let's move on
7:00
to the items that you can use on the
7:02
desktop which is the Pinterest lens and
7:05
the Google Lens if you're on a desktop
7:08
or a laptop and you go to Pinterest you
7:11
can use the Pinterest lens again
7:14
automatically you don't really have to
7:15
do anything to use the Pinterest lens
7:18
it's automatically going to start
7:20
populating shopping results for you when
7:23
you click on a pin on the right hand
7:26
side you're going to see shop the look
7:28
and that's where your shopping results
7:31
are going to start to be populated on
7:34
the Pinterest pin you're also going to
7:37
see a new icon that looks like a little
7:40
search magnifying glass with a little
7:42
star on it it says explore when you
7:45
click on this it's then going to give
7:48
you the option to use that little crop
7:52
window or it will actually start to
7:54
highlight some of the pieces in that
7:56
image if it can so it will try to cut
7:58
out like a sofa or a chair or a picture
8:01
on the wall and you can click that and
8:03
that will help isolate that item within
8:06
the photo so that then go uh Pinterest
8:09
will search for it for you if you are on
8:12
the desktop and you want to use the
8:14
Google Lens you're just going to go to
8:16
google.com the main homepage and in the
8:19
search bar you will see the little icon
8:22
to upload a photo and you can go from
8:25
there and upload your PIN directly to
8:27
Google and it will give you some
8:29
shopping results based on that image
8:32
again the little crop window is there if
8:34
you need to narrow your results to a
8:35
particular item within the photo okay
8:38
now let's talk about color palettes
8:41
sometimes it's not about the actual
8:43
stuff in a picture it's not about the
8:45
items it's not about the layout it's
8:48
about an overall feeling that you get
8:50
from a room and odds are that's probably
8:53
evoked from a color palette we talked a
8:57
lot about color theory and how different
8:59
colors spark different emotions in the
9:02
video eight soothing bedroom paint
9:05
colors um I will leave that link in the
9:07
description box below if you want to
9:08
check it out but essentially there are
9:11
certain colors that just trigger certain
9:13
emotions so if you're seeing something
9:15
on Pinterest and you're thinking oh that
9:17
looks really relaxing or oh that looks
9:19
very cozy it's probably the colors that
9:21
are doing it more than the items that
9:23
are in the image and so the easiest way
9:26
to extract a color palette from a pin on
9:30
Pinterest is to use the website coolers
9:33
that's c l r
9:37
s.co coolers is a color palette
9:41
generator and you can upload an image to
9:44
coolers and it will
9:46
automatically identify the colors within
9:49
that image and create a color palette
9:52
for you if you are on a mobile device
9:55
and you go to coolers.com
9:59
bar and select image picker then you're
10:03
going to upload that pin from your phone
10:06
into coolers it's going to automatically
10:10
create a color palette for you you're
10:12
going to have two options there one is
10:15
to generate additional color palette so
10:17
you can sort of Slide the little bar and
10:20
it will um I think it's called palette
10:23
picker and it will start to move around
10:25
the little dots that it's choosing the
10:27
colors from on the image
10:30
and it will create alternative color
10:33
palettes for you also you have the
10:36
option to choose how many colors you
10:38
want in your palette and that is the
10:40
feature right below you're going to see
10:41
a plus and a minus you can go I think
10:43
anywhere from three or four to like six
10:45
or seven colors at any given time if you
10:49
wanted to change any particular color
10:51
you can just move the little circles
10:53
around that are on the image and you can
10:56
just individually select colors if you
10:59
don't like the scheme that the color
11:01
generator has created for you sometimes
11:03
it may be a little too heavy on the Tans
11:05
or it may be too heavy on the blues and
11:07
you really want a nice mix of them all
11:09
you can sort of fine-tune that option
11:12
within coolers if you're on a desktop or
11:15
a laptop and you go to coolers.com you
11:18
are going to see a big blue button right
11:20
on the homepage that says start the
11:22
generator when you click that button
11:24
you're going to go to the landing page
11:26
for the actual tool there's a little um
11:29
you know image icon there at the top
11:31
you're going to click that to upload
11:33
your image and once you upload your
11:35
image just like uh on the mobile app
11:38
it's going to automatically generate
11:40
some colors for you and it will give you
11:43
the option to select how many colors you
11:45
want in your color palette it does not
11:49
autogenerate alternatives for you like
11:52
you can do with the little like slide
11:54
feature that I showed you on the mobile
11:56
app instead if you want to swap swap out
11:59
some of those colors you're going to
12:01
click it in the little color palette
12:03
strip at the bottom and it's going to
12:06
move the dot on the picture to exactly
12:09
where it's chosen that color and if you
12:10
want to swap that color out you're just
12:12
going to drag that dot to a different
12:15
location on the image and it will change
12:17
the color in the color strip palette
12:20
below for both of these options once
12:23
you're done fine-tuning it and you have
12:26
chosen your color palette you're just
12:27
going to go ahead and Export your
12:30
um export your uh palette to an image
12:33
you also have the option to get the like
12:36
the CMYK colors I think that
12:37
automatically comes in there usually you
12:41
don't really need this information
12:44
however if you are thinking about paint
12:45
colors you can bring the
12:48
CMYK color codes to a paint store and
12:51
then they can match by that um but
12:54
either way if you are on the mobile app
12:56
you're just going to export if you are
12:58
on the desktop you are going to click
13:01
the next button and that is going to
13:03
drop down a menu for you to export and
13:05
then you have all of the options to
13:07
export and again just choose export as
13:09
an image and save it to your phone or
13:12
your computer and you're all set and
13:14
last but not least let's talk about how
13:17
to create an actual plan to execute Your
13:22
Design once you have all of your
13:25
inspiration you need a stepbystep plan
13:28
now some people will go to an interior
13:31
designer for this service or an e
13:33
designer but frankly you don't need to
13:35
do that with some of the AI tools that
13:38
are out now now I'm going to show you
13:40
how to create an action plan with chat
13:43
GPT I know that deep seek is very
13:45
popular right now but I haven't had a
13:47
chance to really mess around with it I
13:49
assume it's very similar um but for the
13:53
purposes of this tutorial I'm going to
13:54
show you how to do it on chat
13:56
GPT the steps are exactly the same
13:59
whether you're using the mobile app or
14:01
the
14:02
desktop essentially what you're going to
14:04
do is you're going to choose an
14:06
inspiration photo and then you are going
14:08
to prompt chat GPT you're going to tell
14:12
it hey I would like to create a living
14:14
room like in the attached photo this is
14:18
my budget for this design I you know
14:22
want to create this room over the course
14:26
of so many months I don't want to spend
14:29
more than x amount per month can you
14:32
create an action plan for me to achieve
14:35
my goal that's pretty much all you're
14:37
doing I'm going to leave in the
14:38
description box below the actual prompt
14:40
that I used to generate my action plan
14:44
so let me show you how this works on the
14:47
chat GPT site so I am here at the start
14:51
of chat GPT so to use chat gbt you will
14:55
need to register to create an account
14:57
it's free it's it's very simple if
15:00
you're using Google you could just sign
15:01
in with your Google account it'll only
15:03
take you a matter of seconds to do you
15:06
absolutely do not need to use a paid
15:08
plan to do this you can do this with the
15:10
free plan so in the prompt box this is
15:15
what I wrote I said I would like to
15:18
create a decorating plan for my living
15:20
room can you give me a plan to create a
15:23
room that looks like the attached photo
15:27
I'd like to complete the project over
15:29
the next four months I have a budget of
15:32
$600 and don't want to spend more than
15:34
$250 in any given month create a
15:37
month-by-month plan for me to reach my
15:40
goal and then I hit the plus sign and I
15:44
upload the inspiration image and I send
15:49
it to chat
15:50
GPT and it generated for me a 4month
15:55
plan to create a room that looked like
15:58
this it says here's a month-by-month
16:00
decorating plan to help you achieve a
16:03
similar look while staying within your
16:06
$600 budget over four months and it is
16:11
starting to give me
16:13
um ideas for what you're going to
16:16
purchase when so it's starting with the
16:19
foundation and the larger pieces then
16:22
it's going to bring me into like pillows
16:24
and soft textures then it talks about
16:27
lighting and wall decor
16:29
so you'll notice that in the lighting
16:32
and wall decor section it has really
16:35
identified the key features in that
16:38
photo so it's calling out that pendant
16:41
light it's calling out those floating
16:43
shelves and it's telling me um what
16:46
items you're looking for so for the
16:48
pendant light it says look for a Raton
16:50
or woven pendant light Ikea Amazon or
16:53
DIY with a thrifted basket the wall
16:56
sconces it says get budget friendly
16:59
plugin brass wall sconces and again for
17:02
each one of these months it's going to
17:04
give you the amount that you should be
17:06
spending in that month to stay on target
17:08
with your budget this is just the
17:11
absolute coolest way to basically design
17:15
your home without the help of a
17:17
professional you go to Pinterest you
17:20
find your inspiration go to chat GPT and
17:23
ask it to create a plan for you and you
17:25
can execute that plan the really cool
17:27
thing about this is that you can really
17:29
customize it exactly to what you need
17:34
you can adjust your budget if you need
17:37
to you can adjust your timeline if you
17:39
need to you can tell it hey I don't want
17:41
to do any DIYs at all because sometimes
17:44
it will suggest that if you have a very
17:46
tight budget it's going to start to
17:48
suggest that you do things like buy
17:50
secondhand check out Facebook
17:52
Marketplace um Thrift an item DIY an
17:55
item those are a lot of the suggestions
17:58
that you'll get when you have a very
18:00
tight budget and it doesn't think that
18:02
you're going to be able to purchase
18:03
anything new but if you want to say you
18:07
know chat GPT I like this plan but I do
18:11
not want to DIY anything you know if I
18:14
had to purchase everything new can you
18:16
tell me how much it might cost you can
18:19
ask follow-up questions like that to
18:21
really dig into this plan the plan is
18:24
really just a starting place but it's a
18:27
fantastic one if you are trying to move
18:30
from your Pinterest inspired Decor into
18:33
a design in real life use the chat GPT
18:37
feature that's it for this video I hope
18:40
you found it helpful don't forget to
18:42
visit me at Dian decor.com I post all
18:45
