Hi, it's Lindsay Diane from diancor.com.
0:07
In this video, we're going to talk all
0:08
about how to create a glamorous dining
0:11
room. If you've been scrolling through
0:14
Instagram and seeing these amazing
0:16
dining rooms that you wish you could
0:18
create, this video is for you. I'm going
0:21
to share with you six ways to glam up
0:23
your dining room on a budget. Let's get
0:26
started. Number one is plush seating.
0:30
Instead of going for hardbacked wooden
0:33
chairs, upgrade your chairs to something
0:36
that is plush and maybe a high back
0:39
version so that you can really sit
0:41
backs, relax, and feel comforted by the
0:45
cushions of your chair. If swapping out
0:48
chairs is not in the budget, you can
0:51
simply add pillows to your existing wood
0:54
chairs. This will add a layer of comfort
0:57
to your space that will make it cozy,
1:00
inviting, and give it that little extra
1:03
glam that it's missing. Pillows and
1:05
plush chairs add instant luxury, elevate
1:09
your silhouette, and create a space that
1:12
feels so much more comfortable and
1:14
inviting. Number two is sparkling
1:17
accessories. Opt for something that has
1:19
a high shine finish to it. So something
1:22
that is going to just sparkle and catch
1:24
the light a little bit. This will really
1:27
create an exciting look to your dining
1:30
table. It will be just a little bit of
1:33
glitz to add to your space. Even though
1:36
some of the um you know organic modern
1:39
styles are very popular right now,
1:41
overall the finishes that are popular in
1:44
that style are very dull and flat. So
1:47
for your dining room table, if you want
1:49
to give it just that little bit of glam,
1:53
consider adding in some metallics into
1:55
your space. So create your tablescape
1:59
with possibly some metallic chargers
2:02
that you can swap in and out. Think
2:05
about your candlestick holders. Think
2:08
about vases or a decorative bowl that
2:10
you might use for your centerpiece. And
2:12
for these, opt for something that has a
2:15
high shine to it that will reflect the
2:17
light and give it a little bit of
2:18
excitement. Number three is your
2:21
tablescape and centerpiece. Now, we just
2:24
started touching on some options for
2:26
bringing in some sparkling accessories
2:28
through some of your tablescape and
2:31
table setting pieces. Here, you'll want
2:33
to make sure that you really take your
2:34
time to add in those decorative layers
2:38
to your dining room table. This is
2:40
really what's going to give it a wow
2:43
factor. So, don't skimp out on things
2:48
and chargers, napkin rings,
2:53
Think about all of those little extras
2:56
that people usually only bring out
2:57
during the holidays and bring them out
3:00
for your glam dining room table. Now,
3:02
these things don't have to sit out all
3:04
year round, right? You don't have to
3:05
have your table set all the time to have
3:08
a glam dining room, but think about when
3:11
you do have people over to have a nice
3:14
sit-down dinner to just go the extra
3:17
mile to create a really beautiful
3:19
tablescape. Runners, napkins, chargers,
3:22
candle holders, and fresh flowers are a
3:25
great way to start building out your
3:27
glam tablescape. Number four is lighting
3:30
and music. Now, here's where you really
3:33
start to create the ambiance of a
3:35
glamorous dining room space. You want to
3:38
make sure that you have some music
3:40
playing in your space when it's time to
3:42
eat, but you also want to make sure that
3:45
you have a layered lighting plan. So,
3:48
for this, of course, you have an
3:50
overhead light. But if you really want
3:52
to create a glamorous look, consider
3:55
having a layered lighting plan that runs
3:58
along your dining room table so that you
4:01
can actually turn off that larger
4:03
overhead light and have your entire
4:06
dining room lit subtly during a meal. So
4:10
things that you can use in your layered
4:12
lighting plan are varying sizes of
4:14
candles. So, think about pillar candles,
4:17
tea lightss, and tapered candles on
4:20
candlesticks. By mixing all of these
4:23
together, you will create a really nice
4:26
dynamic lighting situation on your table
4:31
Another thing to consider are wall
4:33
sconces. So, instead of having a large
4:36
overhead light or a large chandelier on,
4:40
you can have wall sconces that are on
4:43
your walls. Maybe they're flanking a
4:46
credenza or a buffet table. Have those
4:50
as a lighting option in your dining room
4:53
so that you can subtly illuminate the
4:56
space. Another great option is to have a
5:00
small table lamp that may be on a buffet
5:03
table. If you have a china cabinet with
5:06
glass doors, consider adding some
5:08
lighting to that if it doesn't already
5:10
light up. or any other cabinets that you
5:13
have with glass front doors. Think about
5:16
adding some stick up puck lights there
5:19
so that you can illuminate those items
5:22
and really create a glamorous lighting
5:24
look in your space. Under cabinet
5:26
lighting is also a great option. Don't
5:30
forget about night lights. You can place
5:32
them behind maybe an oversized vase or
5:35
if you have an artificial tree in your
5:37
dining room, place them in a plug that
5:39
sits behind there and you will really
5:41
create a beautiful illumination from a
5:43
corner of your dining room. If you have
5:45
the option, of course, a dimmable
5:48
overhead light is a great way to go. If
5:53
you do not have that option, I would say
5:55
try to do the most that you can with
5:57
your supplemental lighting and then opt
5:59
for that big overhead light to be turned
6:01
off. Number five is to opt for all white
6:04
dishes. Now, this is key for your meal.
6:08
It's really going to make the colors in
6:10
your food pop and look like they are
6:13
just magazine worthy. When you plate
6:17
items on colored dishes, you have to
6:20
worry about competing with the
6:23
background of the plate with whatever it
6:26
is that you're serving. But if you go
6:28
with the all-white dishes, you will
6:31
really be able to spotlight your meal.
6:33
And this makes for a really glamorous
6:37
um feeling in your dining room and in
6:39
your dining experience. This is why in
6:42
fine dining restaurants, you're always
6:44
going to see white dishes. Now, they
6:46
don't have to be plain. You can choose
6:49
something that has some nice embossing
6:51
on it or a scalloped edge or maybe a
6:53
nice, you know, gold rimmed edge. It
6:56
doesn't have to be all white, plain,
6:58
basic. But think about leaving that
7:01
canvas for your food white so that you
7:04
can create a really, really memorable
7:06
meal. Not only one that tastes good, but
7:09
also looks amazing on the plate as well.
7:13
Number six is an area rug. There is
7:16
nothing better than a nice soft plush
7:20
area rug under your feet while you are
7:23
dining. There's something just so
7:25
glamorous and luxurious about it. And
7:28
this is an experience that you can only
7:30
get at home. Rugs are not a sensory
7:33
experience that is prioritized in a
7:36
restaurant really almost ever. So when
7:40
you are at home, you can create this
7:42
really, really unique experience and a
7:46
luxurious experience by having a really
7:49
soft rug under your dining room table so
7:52
that when folks are sitting there, they
7:54
have an enhanced level of comfort and it
7:58
will create a memorable experience. A
8:01
plush rug not only elevates the look,
8:04
but it keeps guests comfortable through
8:06
multiple courses. So there you have it.
8:08
Those are six ways to create a glamorous
8:12
dining room experience. Think about
8:14
layering in some of these things to your
8:16
existing dining table, maybe before the
8:18
holidays or before your next dinner
8:20
party to really create a glam and
8:24
exciting look and experience for your
8:27
guests. That's all for this video. If
