So Dom, what did you see?
0:06
>> Well,
0:08
after a little bit of uh
0:10
uh scootering, we we got on the sub,
0:13
which was really really nice.
0:17
It's a classic thing when the when the
0:19
shot isn't on the wreck, you got to you
0:20
look for fish.
0:22
And uh
0:23
we didn't see any fish. We saw a a large
0:25
octopus.
0:26
>> Oh.
0:27
>> And then after the octopus, we saw some
0:29
fish. And then we came straight onto the
0:30
bow.
0:32
And obviously the great thing about uh
0:34
submarines is they've got that lovely
0:36
kind of really sharp knife-like bow. So
0:40
that was the first thing that we came
0:41
onto. It It was really nice actually,
0:43
especially you know, cuz we at that
0:46
point weren't overly confident we were
0:47
going to find
0:48
>> [laughter]
0:49
>> And then and then we got on it and we we
0:52
went along it. And there's actually more
0:54
of the casing
0:55
there than I thought there was going to
0:57
be. Um on the port side, which is the
1:00
the side that's resting on the seabed,
1:02
we I think I'm I'm pretty certain I
1:04
found the remnants of the uh top of the
1:08
snorkel. So where the um you could see
1:11
where it opened to let the air in and
1:13
everything.
1:13
>> Yeah, yeah.
1:14
>> Um my understanding is that will be
1:16
really useful for identifying it.
1:18
>> So
1:19
>> So uh that was good. From there I kind
1:21
of went back on the seabed and I was
1:24
looking for some sort of gun. There's no
1:26
deck gun. I couldn't see any sort of
1:28
anti-aircraft gun, but what there were
1:30
was these really interesting tubes. Um
1:33
and I've got some good video of those.
1:35
And once again, I'm hoping that Michael
1:37
and Axel will be able to give us some
1:39
information on what they are and maybe
1:40
they'll be helpful. Uh we then went to
1:42
the stern, had a look at the prop. I did
1:45
have a bit of a go at scraping some of
1:47
the prop with my knife, but um
1:50
might be wrong, but they they almost
1:52
look as though they are iron, the props.
1:55
Okay. Uh which which was interesting. Um
1:58
and then came back along the top of it
2:01
um looking for bits and pieces.
2:03
Uh one of the things that was
2:04
interesting is all the hatches are
2:06
closed as far as I could tell.
2:08
I had a particular look at the one on
2:09
the top of the uh the fin on the conning
2:11
tower, closed. Uh
2:13
>> Any life rafts?
2:15
>> Uh I did look at for life rafts in the
2:16
bow, didn't see any life rafts. So, it
2:18
does look as though they're gone. I
2:20
mean, if this is U 672,
2:23
uh it would appear to me that they've
2:25
they've got off, they've got out, they
2:26
closed all the hatches, and maybe that's
2:29
in order to prevent anybody getting back
2:31
in it or, you know, maybe prevent divers
2:33
getting in it or something like that. I
2:35
I don't know. But, um and then from
2:37
there, yeah, went back um scooted back
2:39
to the shot, came up, and uh I mean, I'm
2:42
guessing nobody else got on it, which is
2:44
which is pretty disappointing. But, you
2:46
know, I guess at least we did. So,
2:47
hopefully we've got enough to ID it.
2:50
>> Great stuff. Goodnight to you, son, and
2:51
we'll look at your video.
2:52
>> Thanks.
