lived born in 1908 balus made an

absolute reputable name for himself as

one of the most controversial artists he

began most of his career painting Street

Scenes but he didn't stick with these

artworks for his entire career in 1936

balus created Theresa dreaming the

painting is of his neighbor's

11-year-old daughter balus created so

many different types of artworks around

this type of theme balus didn't just

push boundaries he shattered them his

work is haunting beautiful and deeply

unsettling he was obsessed with the

innocence of childhood but his

depictions often flirt with the taboo

some call it provocative and others

disturbing his paintings of young girls
