photographer he says "I work with the
0:04
uh Taran County
0:07
uh Taran County
0:10
uh what do you call
0:13
it?" And where they do the autopsies
0:15
medical examiner medical examiner he
0:19
says "I work with them and I've got this
0:21
series of pictures and uh I'm looking to
0:24
sell them all sort of thing you know."
0:27
So Ron and another guy and myself went
0:30
up to Fort Worth met this
0:33
guy and he's showing us all these
0:35
pictures i says
0:38
"Sir how much you wanting for?" I think
0:40
he wanted like
0:42
$40,000 i said
0:44
"Uh and uh these are never been issued
0:49
he never Nobody else has got any of
0:51
these right these are all fresh sort of
0:54
thing you know one of a kind well no uh
0:59
the media's got them and somebody else
1:00
has got them and I I think the feds had
1:03
them i says "You want $4,000 for stuff
1:06
that's already out you know floating
1:08
around?"
1:09
And so anyway we sat there looking and
1:13
uh he he had
1:15
shots of the room which was serving area
1:20
of the
1:22
cafeteria right outside the
1:24
vault and it's got all of
1:27
these
1:29
cans all over the place i mean it's like
1:32
you had them all stacked up and they all
1:34
fell down at big heat
1:37
but they're they're all shiny
1:41
we go how
1:44
where's this picture taken they got all
1:46
these shiny you know i said if they went
1:49
through the fire you'd think they'd be
1:51
burned or they'd be blackened with soot
1:54
or whatever you know here they're all
1:57
shiny you know well they were but we
1:59
decided to clean them up one day he's
2:02
showing us all the bodies that they had
2:04
at the at the m you know
2:07
and he had them in series
2:10
like six pictures on each
2:13
page or maybe eight
2:16
anyway he had this table with a bowl in
2:20
it with all this black stuff in the
2:23
bowl and then he's got all these you
2:26
know charred bodies around it in these
2:28
other pictures he says "What's that on
2:31
the table?" He said "Ah." He says "That
2:34
was our lunch." She says "We we ordered
2:36
teriyak chicken and uh we thought that
2:39
would be funny to put in it in with all
2:42
the pictures of the bodies." You
2:45
know you know get in the way of slap
2:48
somebody
2:50
so we didn't buy his picture i says
2:53
"Tell me something you worked for the
2:55
medical examiner's office right so
2:57
you're the official photographer uh you
3:01
went out to the site you took pictures
3:02
out there and you took all the pictures
3:04
in the at the mall uh as they're doing
3:08
this stuff he says "Yes." I says
3:11
"Uh so you got paid for doing that was
3:14
your job so you you got paid for taking
3:16
these pictures right?" Well yes i says
3:20
"And uh they probably bought the
3:22
negatives and paid for the processing
3:24
and all that." Well yes but I didn't get
3:28
paid enough i did a lot of overtime that
3:30
I didn't get
3:32
You know I thought what a mercenary
3:36
well it's also illegal it's would be
3:38
county property sure i says I'm I'm not
3:42
interested i'm ticked off to begin with
3:44
and I'm not interested in giving you
3:46
$40,000 for something that's not yours
3:49
belongs to to the
3:51
county so should have filed criminal
3:54
charges but he he uh he did tell us that
3:57
while they were operating on them all
3:58
they were just having a L that was a
4:02
you know joking and carrying on all all
4:04
the time that's normal when they're
4:07
cutting off people's bodies and trying
4:10
to figure out
4:12
stuff you're not winning me not a job
4:15
not a job that I want to do but I don't
4:18
think I think I have a one more time
4:23
be bad enough if you were showing the
4:25
FBI the pictures and all joking about it
4:28
but you're showing relatives and and
4:32
people that
4:33
have you know it's just happened to you
4:37
so it's inconceivable yeah
4:40
well like I said the thing is after it
4:44
was all over you know I tell people I
4:48
said I don't
4:49
hate individual agents you know officers
4:53
and police or sheriff's department or
4:57
even the ATF or the FBI they're not
5:00
taught to hate david used to always say
5:03
you know people are people no matter who
5:06
they are what they are souls to be saved
5:09
possibility of being saved so I said I
5:14
don't hate them but it's
5:16
uh you know
5:19
it's what happened
5:22
and the attitudes that they've continued
5:24
to have
5:26
doesn't help you love
5:29
them you uh certainly don't trust him
5:33
his any agents ever came back and said
5:35
"I'm sorry."
5:37
Or the sheriff sheriff did what did he
5:40
say when McNaldi made his first
5:43
documentary he showed it at a Thank you
5:45
very much at a place at I think it was a
5:48
hotel downtown and he invited
5:51
uh he invited
5:57
Cher Jack
5:59
Harwell to to the viewing and I
6:03
went he hugged me and he was almost in
6:06
tears you know and uh so then
6:11
Um one day he called me he says "Can we
6:16
get
6:17
together?" He said "I'm real real upset
6:21
about
6:23
uh you know the death of the children
6:26
bothered me all never got over it." He
6:30
said "I'd like to tell you a few
6:31
things." Since the the day that they
6:34
came out it was negotiated that they
6:37
wanted David to come out and talk to
6:39
them up at the front of the property and
6:42
it was agreed that the whole thing would
6:44
be done no weapons you know kind of on
6:48
neutral ground where there'd be no
6:50
threat of anyone being shot or hurt or
6:52
whatever and David bowed out but he he
6:57
asked Wayne Martin and Steve Schneider
7:00
to go up and talk to him and so they
7:03
they walk up to the front of the
7:05
property near the gate and the uh this
7:09
Bradley comes in armored
7:12
vehicle and uh the back end opens up and
7:16
all these guys jump out with their guns
7:18
trained up Steve and
7:21
Wayne and
7:24
uh so anyway it's like drizzling rain
7:28
and they talk for a while and eventually
7:30
Steve and Wayne come
7:32
tell us how scared they were that they
7:34
were either going to be shot or grabbed
7:36
or whatever but uh
7:41
Jack Harwell told me on the phone he
7:43
says he says "You know that day we came
7:46
out he says the plan was that we were to
7:49
lure them over to the back of Bradley
7:51
and grab them put them in there." First
7:54
of all they wanted to get David but they
7:56
they were going to do it to Wayne and
7:58
and they would probably gunned him down
8:00
right there and then gun next to him
8:02
jack Harwell opposed them jack Harwell
8:06
opposed them he says that's not what the
8:10
negotiators agreed upon you know that's
8:12
not that wasn't the plan and so he
8:15
jumped out of the back of the deal and
8:17
walked over to the where they were
8:20
standing because when they saw the tank
8:22
drive in and these guys jumping out they
8:24
kind of froze you know so they were a
8:26
little distance from from the Bradley
8:29
and he
8:30
says he said "So the the FBI
8:34
guy walked over so there was like four
8:37
of them standing there talking." And he
8:40
says "But when we got back in the tank,"
8:41
he said "Boy
8:42
he you know chewed him up one side and
8:45
down the other for messing up the their
8:49
plan to duck Wayne and
8:52
Steve." Well that's not what you set up
8:55
you're going to go back on the deal he
8:57
said "I don't think that's
8:58
right." So anyway he says "Can can we
9:01
get
9:02
together coffee or
9:05
whatever i really like to talk." He says
9:08
there's things I want to say that I
9:10
can't tell my family and
9:13
uh and I just like someone to talk to
9:17
sort of that knows what I'm going
9:19
through and within a few days he was
9:23
dead and I went to his the I went to the
9:26
viewing i didn't go to the funeral i
9:28
went to the
9:29
viewing and uh I talked to his widow and
9:34
his son one of his
9:36
sons and he kind of confirms my dad's
9:41
been upset ever since this happened he
9:44
says and he won't talk to us about it we
9:48
know that he's
9:50
troubled and uh like I said he was going
9:54
to tell me something which I never got
9:56
to hear how do you die
9:59
well in a bathroom the official story
10:01
and the rumors are two different things
10:04
you know some said there was blood all
10:06
over the bathroom now I don't think
10:08
that's a heart attack you know so I I
10:12
don't know i didn't do any autopsies i
10:14
wasn't there i can't our government's
10:17
just That's what they do they It's just
10:19
But he he had announced that he was
10:21
going to go public with some information
10:25
what was the sheriff's name again
10:26
harwell
10:28
i think the guy the guy that became he
10:31
was in office for a long time everybody
10:33
liked him the guy even the criminal no
10:36
he was just real old i I don't know
10:38
exactly how the guy that took his place
10:40
no that's was the lieutenant
10:43
that took the 911 call larry Lynch he
10:48
wasn't quite so friendly i went and
10:49
talked to him after at one point too
10:53
i don't know he would talk to me but he
10:55
had an attitude you know and uh then he
10:58
got into trouble misappropriation funds
11:01
or something so the last election they
11:04
had the guy that gets elected as the
11:07
sheriff that we got now he was the
11:09
bodyguard for Judge Walter Smith oh jeez
11:15
you know
11:18
I didn't know he was Walter Smith's
11:19
bodyguard well him and his brothers they
11:21
were federal marshals you know it it
11:24
seems like you know I was uh doing some
11:27
research on when Hinckley shot uh Reagan
11:32
and Hinckley was friends with the Bush
11:35
family and hung out with the boys i mean
11:38
this stuff is just
11:42
keeps on going unbelievable
11:46
how about those Dallas Cowboys though
11:48
what do you think just I don't know did
11:51
that
11:57
if you can accept the position of this
11:59
if you look at it back it was a little
12:01
different this year it was good
12:04
right
12:06
there may be a few people that talked to
12:08
me on the phone and they said well who's
12:09
your guest speaking I said they're going
12:11
to have to put up with me said they
12:13
don't have any guest speakers this week
12:16
and I don't know how serious the problem
12:18
is I don't They came anyway
12:21
okay um did your uh professor from
12:24
Loyola come yeah she was here might be
12:27
sufficient she's here she
12:30
was still used to
12:33
She's the one that helped us all right
12:43
what's this these are This
12:46
is my card it's none of my business
12:52
i don't even know what it is you want me
12:55
to get you one
12:57
i'm going i could use one
13:02
hey can I get
13:08
I get one you want to sign this it might
13:09
be worth some money one day
13:13
hey it is selling movie rights
13:19
so Clive over the years I've seen them
13:21
the news media and stuff try to set you
13:24
up with questions you know that try to
13:27
make you look bad and you've always
13:28
answered them just about as well as I
13:31
could think of anybody to answer but
13:34
maybe I missed an interview did you ever
13:36
just tell somebody you know did you ever
13:40
did you you always been so so your
13:43
demeanor's always been very uh and I was
13:46
just thinking man I could not do that
13:50
paul called me up couple weeks back
13:57
he had a friend
13:59
got one of these
14:03
magazine she wants to ask us some
14:05
questions so we in that for about an
14:06
hour she just throwing everything that
14:10
come into her mind and I
14:14
and so
14:18
he got off the phone
14:20
then Paul called back another day and he
14:23
says he said you know all the answers
14:26
you get wasted
14:31
it doesn't matter how clear how good
14:34
your answers are if your mind's made up
14:37
you don't get to first base you know i
14:40
say "Well you can only try." And so
14:44
uh this friend apparently ganged up on
14:47
him with another friend of his a guy and
14:51
they got all over it the other day
14:54
he called me he says "I've got to go to
14:57
a speaking engagement if I pay for your
14:59
plane fair will you come out and kind of
15:01
be with me
15:04
should I'm supposed to fly out to
15:06
California on Tuesday
15:09
so is everybody going out to the Mount
15:11
Carmel Center now uh I don't think so
15:14
i'm ready to
15:18
You ever go out we've been there a
15:20
couple of times
15:22
yeah we were out there last month last
15:26
month spent about six hours listening to
15:29
