With costs already rising, and an economy on the brink, these firms are concerned that Angela Rayner’s new legislation could deal a crushing blow. It’s been billed as the biggest upgrade to workplace protections in a generation, and it’s heading for its third reading in the House of Lords this week. Ministers insist the bill will modernise the labour market and deliver fairer treatment for millions of workers. But industry experts caution that the detail of the Bill risks creating a “perfect storm” for SMEs.
