Welcome to day 19 of the 30 mixed media
0:03
card challenge. Um you'll find all of
0:06
them are linked in the description below
0:08
and on the screen. But today we're
0:12
making this card here. So let's get
0:17
You need a card blank or some card
0:19
folded in half. I'm making a standard 7
0:22
in x 5 in card, but obviously you can
0:24
make it any size. And I'm going to get
0:26
some tissue paper. Now, this is an old
0:28
paper servette, just one I've had
0:31
hanging around for ages and not used.
0:33
And you're just going to tear up your
0:34
tissue paper wherever you've got it
0:36
from. And you can do whatever color you
0:38
like. And you're just tearing it up into
0:40
small pieces. And then we're going to
0:42
glue them to the front of the card. You
0:44
want a PVA based glue like Modge Podge
0:47
or this one's called decopage glue. And
0:50
a brush. And just add some glue to the
0:52
front of your card. And then take your
0:55
pieces of tissue paper in turn and glue
0:58
them on. And you're gonna cover the
1:00
whole of the piece of tissue paper with
1:03
the glue. You'll notice I'm not worrying
1:05
if it gets crinkled up and it gets
1:07
folded over. That's just adding to the
1:10
3D effect. It's just giving some texture
1:12
to the card. And you just keep doing
1:14
this until you've covered as much of the
1:16
front of the card as you want. I'm going
1:18
to cover most of the front, but I'm
1:20
going to leave some white bits around
1:23
You might just do a patch. You might
1:24
cover the whole thing so there's no
1:26
white showing. And you'll notice that
1:28
the more layers you put on, the deeper
1:30
the color. So again, you're adding more
1:33
interest by having some of it with more
1:36
layers and some of it with fewer layers.
1:39
Once you're completely happy with it,
1:41
just leave it to dry. You don't want to
1:43
do anything else until it's dry. And
1:46
you'll see I'm just looking at it and
1:47
then deciding on a few bits that need a
1:54
I hope you like this effect. I do. I
1:56
love it because I think it's dead cheap,
1:58
dead easy, and really effective.
2:02
Once it's dry, you can add anything else
2:05
you want to the card. Now, a standard
2:07
thing with cards that works really well
2:09
is to put something down the left hand
2:11
side down the fold. I'm going to use a
2:14
piece of lace and I'm just going to use
2:16
the same PVA glue and I'm going to use
2:19
the same technique of putting plenty of
2:21
glue underneath and plenty of glue on
2:23
top. Um, great for down this left hand
2:26
side is something called washi tape as
2:28
well. Or you could draw, you could use a
2:31
ruler and draw straight lines.
2:35
You could do a fancy doodle using a
2:37
stencil or you could even get a rubber
2:40
stamp and put that down the side.
2:42
anything you like. It's just giving it a
2:43
border on that edge. And then I'm going
2:46
to add lace flowers. So really for me,
2:49
this card's very much about the lace on
2:51
top of the paper effect underneath. And
2:54
these flowers were just cut out of some
2:56
simple lace. And I think they're really
2:59
rather effective. I'm just putting them
3:00
in this corner. Again, you could do any
3:03
design you want all over the card, but I
3:05
quite like this something in the corner
3:08
design. And you'll see I'm putting
3:10
plenty of glue on the top. It's just so
3:11
those edges don't catch and don't try
3:13
and come up and rip them off the front
3:15
of the card. We just want them to be
3:20
And then you could add anything else you
3:22
want. I'm adding a greeting which you
3:25
can get free off my website. I'll put a
3:27
link in the description and on the
3:30
screen for you so you can get to those,
3:32
but you can get them from anywhere. And
3:34
I'm sticking them on with some of the
3:35
little foam pads because I really like
3:38
those. um they just give a little bit
3:40
more 3D a bit of a brighter effect. And
3:44
then put your greeting on. You could of
3:46
course have written your greeting if you
3:47
prefer. And that's it. You've got a
3:49
beautiful card. Hope you've enjoyed it
3:52
and I hope you're going to make one for
3:53
your next celebration.
