Welcome to day 13 of the 30 mixed media
0:04
card challenge. You'll find that all the
0:06
cards can be made from craft supplies
0:08
you've probably got at home and you'll
0:09
find the other videos in the description
0:11
below and on the screen. But today we're
0:14
going to be making this card here. So,
0:17
let's get started. All you're going to
0:19
need for this card is a card blank or a
0:21
piece of card folded in half, some glue.
0:25
Now I'm using a deccoage medium like
0:27
Modge Podge or a PVA glue, something
0:29
like that. And some scraps of fabric.
0:32
Now your scraps of fabric can be any
0:33
size you like. They can be any fabrics
0:35
you like. What I would say is craft
0:37
cotton work really well. Now I'm using
0:40
squares and rectangles that I've just
0:42
cut very roughly just using a pair of
0:44
scissors. And you could make any shapes.
0:47
I mean you could cut out birds. You
0:48
could make really quite complex collages
0:50
if you wanted. But I wanted to keep it
0:52
really simple and show you how easy it
0:54
is to get a great effect. If you're
0:56
anything like me, you keep scrap fabric.
0:59
You never know what to do with it.
1:00
Here's a great project. So, all you need
1:02
to do is cover the front in glue and
1:06
then start gluing on all those bits of
1:10
fabric. And I'm creating as I go. So,
1:13
what you do is pick it up usually with
1:15
your brush work. Sometimes you'll see I
1:17
have to get my fingers involved and then
1:18
you get gluey. But pick it up, position
1:21
it where you want and then cover it over
1:23
with glue and that'll just seal it down.
1:25
It'll stop you having any edges and
1:27
gives a really nice effect on top to be
1:29
honest. You can even buy some glues that
1:31
have glitter effects in them and things
1:33
like that. So do have a look around, but
1:36
as I say can just use whatever glue
1:38
you've got and give it a go. So, I'm
1:41
just building it up. And I don't think I
1:44
am going to put anything dramatic on the
1:46
top, but you could do um as I say, you
1:49
could cut out shapes to make a certain
1:52
design or a certain picture and
1:55
basically end up with a a detailed
1:59
Obviously, I've sped this up slightly,
2:02
but h it is really quick and easy, and
2:05
it has made a small dent in my tub full
2:08
of scrap fabrics, and hopefully it'll do
2:09
the same for you. If you are enjoying
2:12
this video and you like the idea of
2:14
making these cards, please can you give
2:16
me a thumbs up below so it spreads to
2:18
more people. And if you want to, you can
2:21
leave me a comment letting me know how
2:22
you get on with yours. So, I've guessed
2:26
what I'm going to need for this card,
2:27
and I don't think I've done a bad job of
2:29
that. It's not going to be quite enough
2:32
to cover the whole card, but that's not
2:34
bad going. So, I'll just cut a couple
2:41
So, once you finished, do just check
2:42
you've got the whole thing covered in
2:44
glue and make sure you haven't glued the
2:46
card shut. Another thing just to be
2:49
careful of, can be a good idea to open
2:51
your card out, but I don't tend to do
2:53
that. So, you can see I'm just making
2:55
sure it's all covered. Let it dry and
2:58
then you can start decorating any more
3:00
you want to do. So, all I'm going to do,
3:04
I think, is add a greeting. I'm not
3:05
going to put any ink around the edge of
3:07
the card or anything like that. I'm
3:09
going to use one of the greetings that
3:10
you can get free from my website. So,
3:13
there's a link on the screen or on the
3:15
description below, and there's a whole
3:16
set of greetings on there to use. I'm
3:18
going to stick it on using little foam
3:20
pads because they just raise it up and
3:21
give a nice 3D effect.
3:24
And I'm literally just going to put that
3:26
on the middle there. And that will be my
3:28
card complete. And I think I'd be really
3:31
pleased to to receive that. So I'm
3:33
hoping whoever I send this to enjoys it
3:36
as well. So thank you for watching and I
3:39
hope you've enjoyed the video.
