Set Any AutoCAD Layer Current Without Searching the List

Stop scrolling through long AutoCAD layer lists just to find the layer you need. Use the LAYMCUR command and select an existing object. AutoCAD instantly makes that object's layer the current layer. Command sequence: LAYMCUR → Select Object Any new object you create will now be placed on the selected object's layer. This is a simple but useful shortcut for drawings containing dozens or hundreds of layers.
